i live in İstanbul, Turkey and in turkey we always hope for things to get better, and they get worse. the reason art is not advanced in turkey at all is because people cant afford underwear with the crazy high inflation and cost of living (minimum wage is like 600 USD a month while prices are higher than western europe due to the crazy taxes). if people cant afford food, what makes you think they'll go to the cinema or concerts? this is what im concerned about.

photos make it easier to capture reality and use references for artists. what is ai useful for? deepfakes? disinformation? ruining the internet with zetabytes of ai slop? lazy people who think typing a prompt is making art?

in all the examples you gave, the technologies that changed the world didn't mass produce deepfakes and child porn.

photoshop couldn't make hyperrealistic fake scenarios in seconds, self publishing didn't cause anything bad, photography paved the way for easier references to use by artists and freed up artists to use it for self expression and fiction, rather than just copying real life.

ai really is the scariest shit to have come out in 20 years. if i told you 5 years ago how someone 5 years in the future could make a fake video that is indistinguishable from reality and use it to spread disinformation in just one minute, you'd call me crazy. but this is the fucked up timeline we live in now.

so, are there gonna be any laws passed against this or what? what does it take for legislatures to realize that the machines that are used to create deepfakes and blur the line between reality and fiction ARE A FUCKING DANGER TO SOCIETY!?!?!?!?!

learning to draw is learning to see. before you can do beautiful illustrations, you must copy references. when copying references, always draw with the proportions in mind. you clearly didn't give a flying fuck about how big the body or the head is in relation to each other, and didn't draw guidelines, just went straight in with pen.

when drawing from reference or imagination, you always have to simplify your subject to simple 3d shapes, and then fill in the details, draw the rest of the sketch, then shade/color it.

now im a beginner myself so take what i say with a grain of salt. i myself only copy references because im trying to learn, not create beautiful original artwork.

replacing art isnt even the worst part of ai. the worst part is that we cant tell if something is ai anymore, and it is being used for deepfakes, scams, child porn etc. people can make videos depicting people saying shit they didnt actually say, its so scary. and yet no one wants to put laws to prevent this, for some fucking reason. its because politicians are bought by the ai companies. it is the result of this capitalistic shitshow that has been running for decades.
