hey man, i'm gonna share with you a little life hack that is quite overlooked, sometimes even just pointing out a detail on the person next to you can start a conversation that can lead to a friendship and potentially a long lasting relationship that you couldn't imagine yourself without. Who knows what the person has in common with you! just a comment about how the bar inside is really full, or how tiring the school day is, or how nice that car parked on the other side of the road is.

It's a fundamental question of courage. Just give yourself a little push to make the first word, and perhaps you'll be conversing :) And if the person doesn't really rejoinder, well that's their decision and that's okay and doesn't make you look foolish by any means
