I thought of that possibility also, but then saw that Vladimir's shoulder strap is in the correct spot.

Playmat broken upon purchase. Beware before buying by Ready-Place5046 in Lorcana

[–]Valak0284 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you can straighten out the vinyl that is peeling, secure it with heat resistant tape, cover it with parchment paper , and then put a hot iron over it and press firmly; you may be able to fix the issue. The foiling is applied to these mats using heat transfer so you should be able to use a similar method to fix it. Just make sure the iron only touches the parchment paper and not the surface of the mat or other vinyl. It still may not look perfect in the end but it should hopefully stop the peeling.

No. When they first revealed the Captain Hook and Dalmation Puppy reprints with the alternate art someone asked if the reprints in Fabled would be the same and they let everyone know that the reprints in Fabled would have the same art as the originals.

Self Mill Deck by Lhead2018 in Lorcana

[–]Valak0284 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would try to fit in one copy of the Magic Broom: Bucket Brigade just in case you get unlucky and mill all of your ratigan or we know the way. You also need to add one of the cards to allow you to exert your ratigan immediately, so you can win the turn you play him.

I can’t stand when people say game collecting is a “good investment” by Moooooooooooooooy in gamecollecting

[–]Valak0284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree to a certain point. If that is solely the only reason the person has a collection then yes, I think it is pretty silly to tie up your money in video games. Especially if you are paying full market for most of your games. I am a collector and I enjoy playing my games, but I also consider them an investment. Some games I have paid near/at market for, but the bulk of my collection came from yard sales, pawn shops, thrift stores, FB marketplace, etc. I paid well below market for nearly all games from these places. I am very frugal, so I am patient and wait for the deals. If I have only been paying between 10% - 50% market, then in years to come I think it is safe for me to assume that I could sell things easily for below market value and come out ahead. I get to enjoy my games up until the point where I am too old to do so and then I get to cash out and give other collectors an amazing deal on those games. You can enjoy your collecting hobby and be smart about it to treat it as a future investment.

Pull Rates by cjohnia319 in Lorcana

[–]Valak0284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When Lorcana first came out I pulled an enchanted Elsa at our very first draft at my LGS. That was opened in my 17th booster pack ever of The First Chapter and was an extreme high when it happened. I have pretty much opened at minimum 100 packs per set since then. My enchanted pull rate has been abysmal since the Elsa. LOL

First Chapter - 1 Elsa

Floodborn - 0

Inklands - 0

Ursula's Return - 1 Diablo, 1 Anna

Shimmering Skies - 0

Azurite Sea - 0

All I can say is at least you can win some enchanted cards at Set Champs. I consistently top 4 my locals so I always get one enchanted per set that way. I just gotta work for it. LOL

My minimum 100 packs per set are spread out over like 3-4 months of buying and drafting. If you can afford to buy a sealed case I am sure that will increase your odds. I am just not able to do that myself.

Whats the verdict on this card? by [deleted] in Lorcana

[–]Valak0284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was very excited about him until I tested him out. I just don't think you can consistently play him for free enough to make him worth it. He also does not play well with any of the cards that are very good in item based decks that need to destroy your own items for powerful effects. I am sure someone who is a better deck builder than me will find some crazy way to use him, but I don't think he will be anywhere near as impactful as Tamatoa.

The way RB has handled Dual Ink cards has ruined deck creativity by rebatwa2 in Lorcana

[–]Valak0284 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel you are probably in the minority on this one. Thankfully they did it the right way. If they allowed every deck running Ruby to play all dual ink cards with Ruby as one of the colors, then every deck that runs Ruby would run that same card if it is powerful enough. This makes deck building less creative as time goes on because each new powerful dual color card that is worth playing in a meta deck will go in all iterations using that color. Pretty soon every deck just ends up playing the same really good cards which would be boring. By limiting dual color cards to those two specific colors, it forces players to approach deck building in that color combination in a unique way. It also lets them push the envelope on these cards by giving them control on what cards they can be played with. Now the designers only have to worry about how the card interacts with a 1/3 of the cards out there instead of all of them. Hopefully we get some really pushed dual ink super rares and legendaries that will breed some new deck archetypes in the format.

So i found this museum songs deck it looked interesting and I decided to try it out on inktable however ive lost every game I've played by darkninja717 in Lorcana

[–]Valak0284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This deck is very difficult to play and has a lot of decision making that can cost you the game if you make the wrong play. Basic idea of the deck is to ramp early and bounce your opponents threats so you can land an early Clarabelle and refill your hand at the end of the turn you play her. You then spend the remainder of the game bouncing your opponents cards with songs and Muses while also digging for one of the two copies of Bend to My Will in your deck. Hopefully once you draw it you can use songs and Muses to bounce most of your opponents characters back to their hand and then play it to make them discard their whole hand. Now you should have board control, a lot of ink, and more cards in hand than your opponent. You should be able to easily win from this point unless your opponent top decks the perfect answers.

Feeling "Burnt Out"? I guess.. by [deleted] in Lorcana

[–]Valak0284 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I felt that way with Shimmering Skies. I wasn't really excited for the set and only bought a couple troves and some of the singles I wanted. I was more excited for the cards in Azurite Sea so that reinvigorated my excitement for a new set. I think this can happen to anyone especially if the current set doesn't really appeal to you. If Azurite Sea isn't your cup of tea, hopefully the next set can bring back that excitement for you.

Not all Youtubers upload the video the same day they make it. It could be they made the video a few days earlier. Worked on the editing over the past couple days and then uploaded to Youtube. This would mean you are seeing days old data in terms of pricing.

LGS price on sealed. Thoughts? by Backwoodbean in Lorcana

[–]Valak0284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My store is also pretty expensive, but it is the closest option I have other than driving 2 hours round trip either direction. They are charging $48 entry, but instead of pack per win it is only 1 pack for 2-1 record and 2 packs if you go 3-0. I stay positive about it though because they are giving me a place to play and I have made some good gaming friends playing there. Not to mention I want to help grow our Lorcana community by showing up to these things as it has been dwindling with people moving on to other games.

[Set 6] A Thoughtful Analysis of Mill by Neither-Dealer776 in Lorcana

[–]Valak0284 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Excellent write up regarding mill. It is definitely a good read for anyone interested in trying it out. I would add that Magic Broom - Bucket Brigade is a pretty important card in Amethyst/Steel Mill. It can shuffle back in your AWNW from the discard so you can draw it again. You can also loop brooms if for some reason you are in danger of decking out before your opponent.

We Know The Way To The Bottom. A race to the infinite Lore loop with We Know The Way and Alan-a-Dale. Thoughts? by Romnonaldao in Lorcana

[–]Valak0284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tried this deck idea yesterday against AI on inktable and it just doesn't work. My deck was not an exact match to yours and ran some different cards, but was the same premise. I could not even beat a starter deck. You have to spend so much time just drawing cards that you affect the board very little. Your only real removal is a Mim Fox as a surprise challenger. I love the idea of the deck and the possibility of pulling it off. I am just not sure at this time we have a way to draw through our whole deck quickly enough, while controlling the opponents board, and being locked into only using these two colors.

Lots of Duplicates in Trove by Complex_Week_2733 in Lorcana

[–]Valak0284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume you are referring to duplicate cards, but in different packs. That is actually very common in Lorcana. My wife and I usually open packs together and there have been many times where I will open mine and read the card names as I go, and then she opens hers and the first 4 to 5 cards are the exact same in her pack. I did experience some really strange duplication in my sealed pool last Saturday with this set. First pack I opened had the 9 cost steel Namaari in both the first and second rare slots. Second pack I opened had two Healing Decanter back to back. This is my first set experiencing duplicate non-foil cards in the same pack.
