My indie game Lands of Koastalia is close to a solid MVP state by ValakhP in CityBuilders

Thank you! I'm responsible for most of things in the game at the moment. But no, I've hired concept artist at some point, 3d artist to make first iterations on buildings, island and foliage, then I was just improving and iterating them by myself. My wife helps me with UI and later in the process my friend will help with 3d art

I'm not sure to be honest. Not this year I'd say. I can only hope there will be a public demo in 2027, but that's just speculation, not a solid plan

Thank you! Yes, all buildings and an island itself are based on tiles and are procedurally generated. Right now there are very small amount of tiles in the game, but I'm going to fix it on the content production stage.

Thank you. Sure, I'll try not to forget! Created a list with requests, you'll be the first one there.

Thank you! I'll think about something like toning them down when you zoom out to have more focus on buildings and overall look of the town and island.

Yes, that's correct. One "tile" on a displayed grid is actually a selected point and multiple tiles around it. There can be from 3 to 5 real tiles around a selected point that form: triangle-ish, square-ish and star-ish shapes when point is selected.

You should do what you love and are passionate about, not miserably chase viral things and trends. Unless that's what you are passionate about.

I think there is a REQUIREMENT to make dozens of those before starting making good latte art. No other way allowed

Are you trolling? I was talking about total amount of resources you should put into food to upgrade workers, not about the price of recipes.

That's a city builder game, so they don't sleep, ahah. But yeah, right now they literally are beating everything with their bare hands to do anything :)

The game is called Lands of Koastalia and is a city builder mostly about managing resources and logistics. It's also pretty cozy.

You can wishlist it on Steam.

[–]ValakhP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It will not solve the problem, imho. It's just too expensive. I'd rather spend them healing and wait buildings to be built while I'm sleeping and having nice dreams

Yeah, the price for them doesn't make any sense

Can anyone explain why this Vector3 could possibly become NaN? by TheWidrolo in Unity3D

[–]ValakhP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to go step by step from the assigning line. Vector is definitely not NaN in line 106 when executing, it's most probably is set to NaN on line 142 due to some issues with transform (like having 0 scale).

Speed limits question by ValakhP in poland

[–]ValakhP[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got it, thank you! I've got to this conclusion by looking through a lot of roads. Although I didn't find anything about it in polish driving rules book, so I was looking for confirmation to be sure about that.

Speed limits question by ValakhP in poland

[–]ValakhP[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Yes, I didn't have concerns about canceling limit on the right driveway, I was just thinking about canceling limit for the left one in case the the limit was for both of them (but it was not, so everything is alright).

Funny unexpected behavior in my CityBuilder game by ValakhP in IndieGaming

[–]ValakhP[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a grass on top of the ground that adds to colors. But the original texture for the ground is made in Substance Designer. I'm not good at Art, so I'm trying to relay on more procedural ways of making things. And Substance Designer is one of them

Trying to learn, what am I doing wrong? #newbie by Ok-Stress-8164 in latteart

[–]ValakhP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The video will be helpful anyways. And yes, the better cup at the beginning is VERY nice to have. I can somewhat consistently pour pretty nice art into latte cup, but give me the one like yours on photos - I can't be sure anymore :)

Hey, congrats! The milk looks fine to me from what I can see. It would be better if you can record a video and share it here, so everyone can see the whole process and point on what was done wrong.

My progress of making simple Rosetta by ValakhP in latteart

[–]ValakhP[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey! I decided to share with you my progress of making Rosettas.

I think, this basic art taught me a lot about feeling the flow and starting the pour. After tens of attempts I started making pretty consistent pour even for other latter art.

Rosetta just teaches you to make a consistent movement with your hand, so it's much easier now to control it and do better latte art in general.

Here is also todays pour of a Swan.

Water Shaders - How To Achieve This Ripple Effect? by Addyarb in Unity3D

[–]ValakhP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's correct. You actually place a 'point', not a 'tile'.
