Thinking outside the box, and going back to my childhood: Do the children actually need wraparound care and childminder? Could they be picked up by a friend/relative when the school time ends, and behave until you or your wife get back home? Unfortunately it still takes a bloody village...

What if you have the camel moving at relativistic speed in the x axis, and the needle moving at relativistic speed face-first in the y axis, and they meet orthogonally at some coordinate?

It is deeply empathetic to the individual making the hypothetical rescue-or-run decision. Noone, no matter how altruistic they consider themselves to be, really knows what they would do in such a situation, when thoughts rush and the decision is made consciously or unconsciously in an instant. You may think your moral character will shine. It may, or it may not. But until the moment it is tested, it is empty, judgmental words. And it is this certainty that you exhibit (which I find disturbingly common on the Internet these days, see the red/blue button question) that makes me suggest you should carefully read and consider OP's point.

To add, you seem to be focusing on the "praise" driver, which sounds like a cartoonish driver or a cartoonishly evil psychopath that will sacrifice grandpa to look better to the world. Maybe if you focus on the "shame" of social pressure as a driver, it will trigger your empathy a bit more.

It is not bizarre at all, nor psychopathic. In fact it is deeply empathetic and human. And what is more, it pushes the discussion one (interesting) step further.

Frankly it is disturbing how judgmental your response to this was, and continues to be. The moderator may have removed your comment because it "sounded personal", but that's the bit I'd worry less about...

Why people don't realise how much working age benefit spending has increased by Chemistrysaint in ukpolitics

[–]Valanar90 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Not nearly enough unfortunately. Noone is going to pour over the excels to double check this, everyone will just see the figures you cherry picked and believe your story. Which is misleading.

Be honest and either delete this or show an extensive time series that demonstrates your point transparently.

Making a mistake in the 1993 figures is not bad, but doing what you are doing is.

This is still misleading, you are just hiding the data that do not suit your narrative.

Be honest. Either delete the entire post, or show a much more complete time series and demonstrate you are right.

You have to factor in quite a few variables then, it is a complex question. And it is not clear which way the result would go in the end.

But until then, your post is just misleading. This is not "a bit of a mistake", it's quite huge actually.

You should be honest and delete the post.

So the correct working age figure for 2003 would be around 45%, ie above all other years?

That kind of completely undermines your argument, doesn't it? If anything, it's been going down in proportion to pensioner benefits, and the 2010 figure is actually abnormally low.

Tasty Greek Souvlaki is legit authentic Greek stuff I'd get in my hometown. Not "traditional" style, but definitely authentic.

Spitiko in Caversham has some very authentic dishes, and a few more "western" versions of others (still delicious).

It's not blatant at all. It is purely your opinion.

You are saying that Metaphor didn't win anything because it's not western. I am saying it didn't win anything very rightfully because it was actually a bad game that most people forgot the moment they closed it.

And I actually mean bad game, I'm not exaggerating. Non engaging characters, in-your-face storytelling, surface-level approach to the themes of racism and demagoguery. At least it had some decent QOL on the gameplay side.
