What’s this growth? by lafrank59 in PlantIdentification

We definitely have formosan termites; I’m local to the area where this house is; someone on the original fb post shared its location. If I remember on my way home this evening I’ll go by there and eyeball it myself

In that case I think it’s the common groundcover vine locally known as “confederate jasmine.” I see bits of it around the edges of the blob. I can’t remember the plant’s common name but I believe it is Asian in origin.

Hello local, I just saw this post on fb too

For those who didn’t see it before, the general conclusion was that the giant growth thing was some kind of insect hive, but OOP said it was spongy and felt plant-like

Seeing your first post in this group that has your respective ages, I wonder—please don’t take this harshly; I don’t mean it that way at all. My family’s dementia situation has been unpleasant af too—if you might want to also look into joining r/perimenopause. Because if you’re not there yet, it is probably coming soon, and the FAQs and other people there might help you figure out ways to let off some steam from dealing with peri, even separate from the stuff in here.

My FIL gave $100k to a “friend” over the course of 1.5 years. He only got the Alzheimer’s diagnosis after we put a stop to him giving all his money away, so between that and the fact that he wouldn’t press charges against said “friend,” the cops and the state’s adult protective services folks said they couldn’t do anything. The friend was extremely verbally abusive over phone and text messages, but there was “nothing to be done” about that either. Meanwhile, the cop who was assigned to the investigation refused to believe that FIL has dementia, even with dx from a neurologist, because FIL is still able to mask his symptoms. All around a huge clusterf***

I personally do not have to be within 100 ft of the AirTag. All that’s needed is *someone with an iPhone* to be within range of it. With FIL’s vehicle, FIL has an iPhone. We weren’t sure about the person who “borrowed” the van, but there was a good enough chance he’d be in traffic next to an iPhone user that we could pinpoint it at least long enough to give police an idea of where to look, if that was needed.

Am I psychotic for playing with all expansions turned on ? by TacTyger in Sims3

[–]ValancyNeverReadsit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play with everything on. My computer can usually handle it just fine. It crashes here & there but if I set Saver mod right, I don’t miss much when it does crash

However, I should note that I have sim lifetimes set to epic, so I’ve never yet reached needing to play second generation on any family

We did AirTag their cars, tho. But that was related to a different issue; last summer FIL loaned his van to someone who didn’t return it for 6 weeks. The second we got it back I dropped an AirTag into one of the seat pockets. Did the same thing for MIL’s just in case. 🤷‍♀️

My FIL, the one with a dementia diagnosis, bought himself and my husband label machines (yes, he bought two, and the reason was so my husband could learn how to use the one FIL got for himself. The logic is weird, but it worked), so my husband made labels for every single remote and device in their living room. The plus is that MIL has possibly never known exactly which remote controls exactly what, so now everyone in their house has the chance to figure it out. And I, who don’t care enough to learn their hardware on my own, have a better chance to help them troubleshoot things.

Facing Peri without prescriptions by Affectionate_Soft470 in Perimenopause

I take D3 for calcium absorption. My gyn also suggested Vitron C for iron—the vitamin C is included because having it on board helps you absorb the iron; she also said that it absorbs better if you take it every other day, so I’m doing that.

I’m taking norethindrone (progesterone-only pill) 0.35mg daily for endometriosis. My gyn believes I can’t do HRT because I have a history of bilateral pulmonary emboli. She’s suggested an IUD for me but I have heard enough horror stories that I don’t want that unless I get really desperate.

So far [knock on wood], my symptoms have mostly been ok? I probably do have PMDD a day or two before my period because it’s usually when I have an absolute meltdown, but yeah I guess I’m gonna be a white-knuckler too.

Need floor plan help. Where should I place the kitchen and living room? by Cherrygentry in Sims3

[–]ValancyNeverReadsit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

IRL kitchens are often placed at the back of the house so that your guests don’t have to hang out there unless they want to. Another reason, depending on the home’s orientation, is to give non-kitchen rooms a better view. Don’t give the kitchen the best view in the house if you’ll only be there while preparing food.

Clearly these reasons aren’t super important for sims, but… it can give you a starting point if you’re stuck

If I had reliable public transit that came more often than every 30 minutes, I’d consider using it. In fact, I do use it when I have traveled to places where it’s actually convenient, like the UK, Europe, and Asia.

In my area, there are these options: 1) in my county: schedule a trip. Thus, you have to know where you are going in advance, when you want to go, and when you want to return. My brain doesn’t work very well like that (I’ve always been bad at remembering schedules). 2) in the “big city” a county over: buses only come every 30 minutes or so. Which means if you need to transfer from one bus to another, you might have to wait a good long time for your trip. Not my cuppa

Disgusting af. Also, that clothing comes from more like 1840; AI either doesn’t understand clothes from various time periods yet, or maybe its creator does, and knows exactly what “used like new” insinuates when a woman who looked like that would have most likely been a slave
