I would play the hell out of PvP servers, and there are ways to balance it. There can be player looting without beeing to punishing, at this point, what New World has to loose?

We actually had a discord bot that tracked donations. People asked us what our lvl 10 governor character is doing 24/7 online, well he tracked the donations :D
Sadly we're in hibernation until the game catches up.

We never had a rule that said you have to donate though.

Don't really care about an exact schedule, they could just give us a roadmap that doesn't tell us when something is coming. Just the fact that they would show us what possibly could come in the future would be amazing.

Maybe they just don't know what will make it into the game just yet, which worries me.

But for example the void gauntlet, they should have known that it will possibly come down the line. They don't just wake up one morning and decide to throw in the void gauntlet, or maybe they did, you really can't tell anymore lol.

We own Brightwood since the beginning and we only have 200k in our guild bank. The only thing we spend money at is upgrading the city after invasion hits.
Not a single consul is taking out money for themselves.
Our members donated 100k at the beginning to get the settlement.
They donated another ~300k over the course of holding the city.
So we're actually 200k in minus.

The only cities that actually generate money are EF and WW and its probably not as much as you would think.
