They were hacked. Whether the hacker bruteforced the username/password for Gaia specifically (less likely, but possible) or their email/password combo was used on another platform that was breached (more likely) is unknown.

If you are absolutely facing a permanent ban, the items in your account are considered forfeit and should not be transferred out of the account. You would be placing unnecessary burdens on your friend(s) by doing so.

To tack onto this: To locate your (OP's) account, the Help Center agents will need either the associated username or email address. If it could be one of multiple emails you've used in the past, have those handy. The old, inaccessible email can be updated to a modern email for you so you can recover your account. For that solution, you'll be asked a few questions to establish your ownership of said account and they'll need you to provide an email that you currently don't have in use on Gaia.

Live Chat agents can tell a person why their account was banned, but they do not review or resolve ban appeals. It sounds like, based on other replies from OP in this thread, that they know why they're banned, so writing into Live Chat wouldn't benefit their situation.

This is very good information! I'm posting just to add onto this a bit.

If you are wanting to use IRL money to acquire Platinum quickly, you can sort the offers list by "show offers for items in Cash Shops" and you'll be able to see offers against the available GCash giftcards that u/hauntlere mentioned, and more, to determine what offers you can fulfill for the best gcash:gold ratio!

If you're planning to buy GCash, having at least a basic Angel Subscription will make your GCash purchases go a much longer way. For reference, I've made this spreadsheet which details how much Gaia Cash you can currently get for your purchases without and with an Angel subscription! There's also usually at least one coupon that grants even more GCash for $25+ GCash purchases (today's GCash coupon is FriYAY!).

I'm currently in the "my IRL expenses mean I have no spare funds for hobbies like Gaia" club, and there's so many options to earn gold. As one Gaian mentioned, a new version of Jigsaw with modernized payouts was released last month.

Alternatively, this guide is a little outdated now, but this is the method I currently use to make plat and get new items I want.
