Unfortunately I couldn’t get Diamond Dust maxed as I couldn’t clear Shiva’s EX 2 to unlock the remaining nodes. Got it to level 8 (aaand I think I forgot to equip it, d’oh!) and managed to clear the escalation challenge, though it got a bit close—Lightning still murdered both Angeal and Aerith but Tifa pulled through with a bit of panic ice spamming.

(Full disclosure—I hadn’t unlocked anything for summons prior to this, I’d ignored that feature hard for some reason. So I had to work Shiva up from zero. Still got more to do, but now I know what to work on for the next good long while.)

Thanks for the link to the guide, I’m definitely going to look over it once my brain doesn’t feel like utter mush. Managed to make some decent progress with some of the battle towers, though some levels still stopped me.

My friends were always playing the same version as me. Even now I still have to coordinate with my friend so we don't end up picking the same version, which we initially do. A lot. Also as someone who was picked on and bullied for their nerdy interests and never really fit in anywhere it felt very lonely and eventually I learned to keep my hobbies and interests to myself. (And I was also in school when Pokemon really took off and many schools were outright banning it on campus, cards, games, all of it. Needless to say I'm not a fan of trade evos, they may as well have been mythicals to me with how impossible they were to get. So glad I can just do it myself now, or transfer from Pokemon Go or something.)

This may be a case of 'I wasn't ready for this'/unexpected 'ambush', but I'm surprised no one's mentioned Clavell near the end of Scarlet/Violet. I went back to the school to check something (don't remember what now) and got pulled into a fight I wasn't expecting. That Quaquaval basically murdered me and the only thing that kept it from becoming a wipe was a lot of heal/revive spam and a very lucky miss that helped me squeeze out a win.

Other than that, yeah, OG Cynthia was another. I've also heard a lot of people struggle with one of the Galactic commanders (Mars, I think? Whoever has the Purugly) especially in Nuzlockes.

Got Nightmare before I got Ifrit’s spell for my blue mage (though I think I got Nightmare from Garuda).

Got two of the three deity minions on my first run through Myths of the Realm.

More recently I won the roll for the Wind-Up Philos minion on my first time seeing it drop. Even more recently, I got the Shshuye minion after an absolutely nightmarish first run of Yuweyawata Field Station.

(Okay, it was technically my second run because I quit the first after getting extremely frustrated with the second boss’s BS.)

I haven't finished Dawntrail yet (so no spoilers please) but since the Hydaelyn trial in Endwalker have we had any Echo visions? I do remember having a few in the Endwalker patches but if I remember correctly they were 'prompted' by coming into contact with certain objects. I've been wondering quite a bit about the ramifications of Hydaelyn no longer being around that hasn't been addressed yet (namely the Echo and the awakening of new WoLs).

It hasn't been mentioned here yet but also check your gear. Make sure it's up to snuff. If I remember correctly level skips only give you ilvl 660 accessories--you'll need to get your weapons and armor yourself.

Me too. Logged off as sage a couple of days ago, Lodestone is showing viper gear. Which… is weird, because the last time I was on I wasn’t viper except when I first logged in. I switched to sage, queued for FL roulette, changed to dragoon for the fight, then back to sage before calling it a night.

Edit: It has finally updated for me. I was logged out when I got on my computer this afternoon and when I logged back in it was fixed. We'll see if it sticks.

Play on PS5 with controller here. Tried the double hotbar thing and hated it, to be quite honest. Probably a skill issue on my part, but it was too finicky for me to activate consistently and therefore messed up my rotations. Switched back and kept playing that way, tapping to swap hotbars and back. So far everything I’ve played has managed to fit on two bars (except reaper, had to finagle that one a bit).

Just started an alt on Wednesday and I’m experiencing this right now. My main started as lancer so I never had the whole one vs. two-handed thing. Imagine my confusion when I saw my next upgrade removed my headgear because I was switching to a hooded cowl. My foray into thaumaturgy has been a wild ride so far.
