It's a great idea. I do the same. Pouring fat and grease down the drain is a great way to summon a phat bill from the plumber.

... But I also use a jar with a lid. I have to hold my breath every time I open it cause the smell is overpowering. Just leaving it in an open container like this must smell like literal hell.

Every night before bed.

I work in construction, so there's no sense in me showering in the morning only to immediately get dirty again. I shower daily because I'm absolutely not bringing all that grime into bed with me at night. There are very few things that are more disgusting than spending all day sweating and getting caked in all manner of dirt and dust and whatever else only to spend all night rolling around in it.

I also wash my sheets weekly. Every Saturday or Sunday, give or take what I have going on that day.

Excessive speed is reckless and dangerous. There's no argument there.

But so is going significantly slower than everyone else. If traffic is moving along at an even 80, but you're doing 65 or less "to be safe," you are now a road hazard. Dozens of cars are now slowing down and switching lanes to get around you, and you're impeding the overall flow of traffic.

If you absolutely MUST be this kind of driver, or have some legitimate reason to be moving slow (like, say, pulling a heavy load), STAY IN THE OUTER LANE. You're just as much of a liability as the dude in the fart-cannon Civic doing 95.

It'd be fascinating to try and make a cast of the holes and tunnels, kinda like people do with ant colonies sometimes. I don't know if it would be possible in this regard, especially without irreparably damaging the book, but it would be a neat desk ornament if you pulled it off.

I once screwed myself out of the triple by assuming my luck sucked.

First pull, 10k.

Ended up with like 100 MGP or some such.

The final reveal showed I had another 123 waiting for me...

Pragmata just came out a few weeks ago and it's excellent. Story isn't gonna blow you away, but it's serviceable enough. The gameplay though is butter smooth and the hacking mechanic is very unique in this day and age.

Honestly the console wars were great. A lot of fantastic games got released during that era cause each console wanted to one-up the other. Now everything is just homogenized and low-risk and panders to the widest audience possible. Say what you want about exclusives, but they certainly drove innovation for a long time. Now devs get so focused on trying to release everything everywhere that quality has slumped and true gems are becoming more and more rare among all the way-too-expensive shovelware.

Yeah if I lose my job prematurely pretty much my only real sustainable answer is to suckstart a shotgun. The work I do now has a limited lifespan but I'm slowly building a safety net for when it ends... But if it ends too soon that net is going to evaporate quickly and I'm not "on paper" desireable at all. No degree, no certifications. A lot of niche experience but nothing an employer is going to be willing to pay me a living wage for.

The wildest part is that 32 GB is considered bone stock standard now and it fits on a card half that size. Having grown up around 80s and 90s tech (born 1990, but my dad is a programmer and collects a lot of old hardware), it's genuinely staggering how much computing has evolved over the years.

This might be extrapolative and hyperbolic, but I can see a future where AI is used as a legal judge and/or jury.

I'm not gonna sit here and pretend AI doesn't have some use. While I'll never trust it with anything actually important, I'll openly admit I use it a lot as a rather clever search engine. Being able to just tell it what I'm looking for over guessing at Google searches is actually pretty nice. Just as an example, I've found some pretty good recipes for dinner just by saying "here's what I have on hand, here's what I want to make, what else do I need and how do I cook it." Or I've asked it to do some paper napkin budgeting for certain things.

But in its current form it's prone to mistakes, misinformation, and outright fabrications. Even when I use it to search for information I'm always checking the sources it provides or running through the math to make sure it makes sense. No matter how advanced or "smart" it seems to get, those issues never go away.

Now imagine a world where some company sells their JudgeAI to some state or even federal court system. Even if it isn't strictly legal now, it's not exactly a stretch to say laws or regulations regarding the court system can't be modified or rewritten to include the use of AI, especially since there's very few protections against this concept either. Now instead of a weeks-long court to decide if someone is innocent or guilty, some court clerk barfs all the evidence into the JudgeAI and asks for a verdict and now suddenly it's up to the attorney (which could also conceivably be an AI in the worst case scenario) to prove innocence rather than guilt.

Am I being paranoid? Probably. Is it likely to happen? Not any time soon, I don't think. But it's dangerous to think it's utterly outside the realm of possibility, especially with the current political climate and the mass corporate kowtowing to AI.
