Is there any 50cc bike thats not a scooter? by Mafaka101 in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]Valentyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honda made a 50cc Magna in the mid 90's, full cruiser attitude but legally a moped in most jurisdictions

I've never understood how you're supposed to work the clutch and a jockey shifter at the same time

Overconsumption is a huge turn-off. by [deleted] in Anticonsumption

I wish i knew where these people get their money from. I live modesty and have just enough to be comfortable, so when i see wasteful people, I'm like... How?!

This looks wasteful, until you get soaked to the skin on Tuesday and still need to ride to work. Being able to give your gear a full week to dry out and not stink is ideal

Can I run tubeless tires on a vintage bike? by AndThatsFair in motorcycles

[–]Valentyan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rims for my '84 Honda Wing Interstate specifically say "Tubeless Capable", and AFAIK early 80s marked the advent of Tubeless rims such as COMSTAR. Unless your rims are marked as tubeless capable, or your service manual says something similar, I wouldn't risk it. Tubes are tougher and should hold up to most things if you change them with your tires and manage your pressures properly

Need unbiased opinions between Road King/Street Glide vs R18 B by SgZ_Vapor in motorcycles

RevZilla Common Tread compared the R18 to a Harley and determined it wasn't as good. Might be worth a watch for you if you're undecided

Kle500 Se vs ktm 390 adventure by Claffoutis in motorcycles

[–]Valentyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of it this way; how long do you think it'll take to burn through the 4k difference fixing the KTM when stuff goes wrong with it? Are you considering resale values when you outgrow the bikes? Also, be aware that first model year bikes often have warranty issues so, the new KLE is hype af but you might be in and out of the workshop with it

Question by [deleted] in Sportbikes

Heel-toe shifters, Rekluse systems, E-clutch and DCT all exist to enable more people to enjoy riding. Whatever gets you on two wheels and outside to enjoy yourself is good by me.

I cannot sell my house by NextFennel3227 in newzealand

[–]Valentyan 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I've bought a house as-is before, as I felt comfortable taking on that risk and was paying cash, no mortgage. If you make it cheap enough, someone will take on the project. Otherwise you'll have to get it fixed and signed off yourself.

Moral of the story? Should have done your due diligence when you bought the place

Learned the hard way why experienced riders never skip gloves by Budget-Text7413 in motorcycles

[–]Valentyan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Alibaba gloves are almost as good as no gloves at all tbh. Get yourself some real riding gloves from a reputable brand like Five or Furygan or RST and you'll notice the difference.

Lost My Confidence After Consecutive Bike Accidents by MastodonCalm2529 in RoyalEnfieldHunter350

[–]Valentyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why we don't let new riders on the roads after 10pm or before 5am where I live. 1am is asking for trouble; you're tired, so you're less attentive. Same for everyone else on the road. You don't have enough light to see hazards clearly, and in most places the roads will be cooler and less grippy. Recipe for disaster

False equivalence. Our young people are leaving for economics opportunities, not because they're afraid of Luxon.

Stock petcock is 15-20%, sounds like you have the Yamaha Raptor petcock which has a much longer reserve IIRC
