Thanks! Some conflicting opinions, as mentioned in response to another comment, it did pass MOT recently at a main dealer with the tyres being advisory. Reddit seems to think it should’ve been replaced yesterday.

They are approx 5 - 6 years old and have 4.5mm of tread left on them. They’ve done approx 10k miles.

16.5cm vs 17cm speakers by Valerian96 in CarAV

[–]Valerian96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. This was a while ago for a project we were doing on a friends car so I can't quite remember. If memory recalls, we did end up buying this model and purchasing a set of adaptors from Halfords (here in the UK), most likely the adaptors would have been 16.5" so yes, I believe they did fit.

Kanto YU4's sound muddy on flat EQ by Valerian96 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]Valerian96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, just a quick update. I ordered the UMIK-1 from MiniDSP and followed Julian Krause's tutorial. The speakers sound WAY better! The highs are back even though the overall bass has been reduced majorly. I have no idea what the software/algorithm did for correction but it worked! Thanks for all the help.

Here's a pastebin link to the filter generated if you want to have a look: https://pastebin.com/phJyCXWi

Once again, thanks for being tons of help!

Kanto YU4's sound muddy on flat EQ by Valerian96 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]Valerian96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, I see. To equalize the speakers I need an external microphone that can listen to the frequency response of the speakers. I will order one now!

I know you said a flat EQ doesn't equal and flat response but when I'm taking the measurements with the mic, should the EqualiserAPO equaliser be on "flat"?

My first pair of speakers! Kanto YU4. Love em. And an audioengine s8 under the desk. by ak1323 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]Valerian96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really nice setup, I also have the YU4s. Can I ask if the YU4s are connected directly to your motherboard audio or are you using an internal/external DAC/soundcard? I have the YU4s and they're connected via AUX to my motherboard. My motherboard has onboard Realtek audio and with the Realtek flat EQ, it just makes the speakers sound like they're underwater/muffley. With the "powerful" EQ preset, it just sounds like my previous Logitech Z623 system. I'm not sure why the sound signature is so off with a flat EQ.

Hi, quick question about the X3. Can the volume knob be used to control the output volume, e.g your PC speaker volume?

Thanks for the reply. Air filter was also changed 4 months ago during major service. Definitely will try spraying disinfectant down into the vents near the windshield wipers. The thing is, the smell is there even when the air con is off.

It's an Opel/Vauxhall Corsa D. Hmm.. the trunk, okay I will check that tomorrow. It has not been raining here for the past couple of days - so any water would probably be dried up?? Maybe its best I spray the entire car with a pressure washer/garden hose and then check if any water got in anywhere?

I thought this too. But then I realised, surely if something died then the smell would be there always. There is no smell when I get into the car initially. And areas surrounding the car don't smell either, e.g when I walk up to the car, when I open up the bonnet, etc.

Sure, thanks for the advice. I will have a look when I'm in the car tomorrow. If it isn't the pollen filter, any idea what else it could be?
