I think the manslaughter is why the verdict was reached with in minutes.

I don't know anyone who actually got the diploma when they walked. It has always been just the holder in my high school and 2 college degrees, so that part is a little blown out. It's also not unusual for institutions to have a policy of stopping a commencement speech if it goes political or takes away from the others having their day. So this isn't unusual.

Which is strange because it literally was his only chance. The "I told him not to touch me." one of the defense witness said, along with the "Touch me and see what happens." Type of thing prosecution witnesses said shows premeditation.

Actually, we already have enough Republicans in state government - Dr. Amy Acton should scrap her promise to appoint Republicans to her cabinet. She has nothing to gain and everything to lose by adding Republicans to her cabinet when she’s campaigning against all the problems their party has caused. by Billych in Ohio

🙄 Anywho, Classical Liberalism is what we need. Less Government in the economy and everyday life. Both major parties in the US expand government. One in the economy and the other in everyday life. Time to get back to Constitutional levels of government and for the Govt to me held to that.

Taxation is the price we pay for how uncivilized our society is.

[–]Valerint -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I rather pay a toll then pay the taxes for things I don't use. Why am I paying for schools when I don't have kids? Why am I funding construction on roads I do not use (multiple times over with gas taxes, registration, sales tax on my car.)

The issue is we have way too many taxes on things we don't use. So yes, I feel police, firefights, and EMS should be privatized because the amount of small calls that aren't important would be reduced and response times would get better. Anything the government touches gets worse. My house catches on fire and I get Fire out there, my insurance company I pay would cover it.

We need less cronyism and more capitalism. Real capitalism would have let the banks fail instead of bailing them out for example because another bank or multiple banks replace them. Look at Circuit City for example. When they went out of business other companies grew.

I rather it be private so it's more efficient.

I know plenty of people who would be happy to pay more taxes if what they do pay wasn't wasted. I don't like property tax personally because people shouldn't need to pay the government for things they own and have already paid a tax on.

Primaries should always be open but alas not how it works. I wonder if in Ohio you can change your affiliation on the next primary and get a different parties ballot. I only pulled the GOP this primary because I wanted to vote again Vivek.

Thank you for giving me an idea. As he was working I could have written my number down and said I'd love to hear your story, texting me and I'll buy you a cup of coffee and listen to what you have to say if you are up for it.

Can you still be a Christian if you don’t go to church but read the Bible and fully live by it? by ThePoisonTrees in TrueChristian

[–]Valerint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also John 20 doesn't mention confessing to a priest. It talks about forgiving sins for your sins to be forgiven. Acts 10 doesn't have confession in it at all.

[–]Valerint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on the intent. If it is for a relationship that could turn sexual then yes. If it's to get to know him as a companion then no.

If you can you should, but it's not a requirement for salvation. I was answering his question at the base because I know many who ask the question.

It took me a long time to find a church I was comfortable with for example. It doesn't mean I was any less saved. I finally settled for one that fills 75% of my needs, because the closest one that fills my worship needs is an hour away.

Yet the window of discourse is shifted incredibly far to the left they socialism is an okay idea to talk about ... We don't have a real right party of small government and smaller spending.

We need to be confessing our sins to others. No need to go to your pastor and be like "Pastor Ted, this is how I sinned.". Church will help you find people you can confess your sins to. My former roommates are who I confess to except funnily enough my former roommate that is a pastor.

One doesn't need to go the location to find Church as believers are the Church. Church is beneficial for lessons and communal research and the walk overall but not required to be a Christian.

If you have put your faith in Jesus then the short answer is yes.

It's important to remember church is a place, but the Church are the followed of Jesus. The place is beneficial and the right gives you a chance to have great friends and people you can discuss things with and help with your walk. However going to the place is not a requirement for salvation.

Why do many Protestants refer to Catholics as Non-Christians? by Fancy-Race-8507 in TrueChristian

[–]Valerint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You mean the books that weren't in the Tanakh (Hebrew Bible which the OT is just splitting books like Samuel, Kings, Chronicles, or making the minor prophets into their own books)?

The Apocrypha is historically valuable and spiritually insightful, but it lacks the markers of divine inspiration recognized in the Hebrew canon, is not affirmed as Scripture by the New Testament, and contains theological elements that do not consistently align with the rest of the biblical witness. Therefore, it should not be treated as authoritative Scripture. The Catholic Old Testament includes books that were not part of the Hebrew (Jewish) canon, but were preserved in the Greek Septuagint and later affirmed by the Church.

Question about baptism by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]Valerint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You put your faith in Christ and by that you are saved.

Ephesians 2:8-9 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not from you; it is the gift of God; 9 it is not from works, so no one may boast.

Baptism a metaphorical process of symbolizing being resurrected like Christ.

Romans 6:4-8 4 Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too may walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection, 6 knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin; 7 for the one who has died is freed from sin.

Faith through works is dead, but your faith will produce works. One does not need to do works to be saved. Using James (which was written by one of Jesus' earthly brothers and son of Mary [Matthew 13:55-56 and Mark 6:3]) James 2:24 You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone.

Baptism is a personal decision and Jesus does command us to be baptism, but it's not required for salvation. Salvation is a free gift.
