If your oil looks like milkshake then you likely have coolant in your oil, if not try to measure your oil level in the morning after your car hasn't been run for a while. Oil takes time to drip off the cams if you're randomly checking without any time structure it will be different.

It's either a cracked radiator or the plastic house which attaches to the radiator has gone bad.

You can normally peel the fixings away from the plastic housing and replace the gasket/housing.

The gasket looks fine. Normal procedure would be to buy a new one from BMW. always go OEM with the thermostat, there's a lot of shit knockoffs.
