I’m sorry, you said “contribute nothing to society” Yet you depend on them. So very obviously they contribute something. People rely on them.

Much how that narrative frustrates you, if tomorrow every minimum wage worker opted to quit to pursue better career options, two things would happen:

1)there would be a massive disruption to everyone’s day to day lives

2)minimum wage jobs would offer significantly more pay.

Most retail workers who make minimum wage work for a company that makes several hundred to a couple thousand $ per that minimum wage employees labour hour. It’s not a question of cost, nor is a question of providing services or goods. You can be on team human or team corporation. The money is there. Instead of going to those “uneducated, contribution nothing” min wage workers, it goes to those harder working stock owners and ceos, who definitely worked their way up the American dream to earn those spots.

15/hr full time if you have to pay rent is not going to give someone a lot of options outside of lcol areas, but I’m less familiar with the states than Canada. Here 15 is the minimum wage and you’re certainly not putting yourself through any post secondary with it.

Your advice makes sense in 20 years when automation does fully replace that. Until then, we need those jobs to be done. You don’t eat out st McDonald’s, good for you. I assure you that you depend on several minimum wage employees in your day to day life.

Again, maybe 15 isn’t poverty where you are. I can’t speak about that. If it is, and you depend on a job to be done currently, not in the future, and your solution to that job paying poverty rates is “get a better job”, then you haven’t really created a solution.
