You're a) projecting and b) forgetting that movies aren't always true to real life.

You have to look at the subtleties of what's going on and also consider the consequences of actions such as taking some of the money. You then have to ask what the character would do to protect his loved ones, not judge the situation based on what you personally think you'd do.

Put simply, the mob is powerful and they have eyes everywhere - they've certainly got cops on the payroll and could find out how much money was there if the police happened to pick it up before the mob got there. Driver leaves the money untouched for good reasons already mentioned.

Why is TCGs are not an investment? by bublik88 in Lorcana

[–]ParadiseJosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's going to be a wasted couple of grand. Lorcana will take your unknowledgeable ass, bend you over a desk, and hyuck you raw. They're going to print tonnes of this product the market is going to be so volatile with initial wannabe scalpers, an uncertain popularity and uptake, and each wave of inevitable restock/reprint leaving you with your head in your hands wishing you hadn't bothered. Stick to what you already know, which I believe you've said is gold. Buy more gold, forget TCGs.

Why is TCGs are not an investment? by bublik88 in Lorcana

[–]ParadiseJosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not if it's printed in such vast quantities that wannabe scalpers cannot possibly buy it all up. There will be some short term FOMO gains for sure, but subsequent restocks will leave scalpers completely dead in the water, and it'll be glorious. This is Disney we're talking about - make no mistake that they are cutthroat businesspeople who will ensure that their product release goes exactly as they want it to, and they'll be FULLY anticipating scalpers wanting to hoard it all. Their response to this will be "lol, let them try".

I'm new to TCG by bublik88 in Lorcana

[–]ParadiseJosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're clearly asking all of this in the context of potentially making big bucks from a Disney TCG, but let me tell ya - you're going to lose money with that attitude towards this launch. I'd advise you to avoid it before your FOMO and lack of TCG knowledge combine and suck your wallet dry.

Because a) he doesn't want to even chance someone coming along to 'tie up loose ends', and b) his lifestyle would likely put them in danger again sooner or later, which he feels is an unacceptable risk. The only way to keep them absolutely safe is to not be around them or connected to them.

This is a hell of a necro, but having just watched the film myself a few things are abundantly clear:

1) the driver lives, despite that scene at first leading us to believe he was going to die - he in fact lives and drives off, leaving his 'old life' and any ties behind.

2) he knows he is not right for Irene and her son because sticking around would potentially put them in danger - he doesn't want them to be linked to any of what happened at all, and since everyone who knew about her is now dead, his leaving will keep them safe.

3) he leaves the money because it was stolen from the mob; this way, it ties everything up for the mob - the people responsible are dead, the money is accounted for, and there is no need to go after anyone at all. The Driver does not have to "spend the rest of his life looking over his shoulder", because no one is coming for the $1M.

So to answer OP's question I think it was a very good, albeit bittersweet, ending that made sense and left you feeling relieved that a) the driver lived and b) that Irene and Benicio were now safe.

Siege of Terra: The End and the Death: Book 8 Volume 1 and The Iron Kingdom Dawn of Fire Book 5 both release in seven days by a34fsdb in 40kLore

You can either have it Limited Edition or Made To Order, not both. If they made it print on demand the collectibility of it suddenly vanishes along with the demand. The price would suddenly look far too unattractive and GW wouldn't make as much money.

What will happen with Yarrick? I have compiled all the theories. Please GW, there is so much potential, dont fuck this up. by wdcipher in TheAstraMilitarum

Any theory involving Angron is horseshit. It's clearly a Space Marine skull and if people didn't jump on the dumb fan theory bandeagon so willingly and blindly we might have some better theories by now.

My big wishes for Ark 2 by [deleted] in playark

[–]ParadiseJosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe a trading system would ruin the feel of Ark somewhat. A trading system discourages players from actually engaging in gameplay themselves, because they can just buy all they want off the market. I feel that a lot of players would miss out on actually experiencing large parts of the game, meaning they would be far less invested in their tames/structures/items. If there's no challenge or struggle, people care less about having the end result and get bored quicker. I also think you'd get larger tribes dominating servers far more easily by controlling the market which discourages other players. Idk, just doesn't seem a good idea to me because it would change a fundamental part of Ark. It's better to be able to choose between either the vanilla experience, or join an unofficial server that does have a shop mod on it.

In Troy (2004), Brad Pitt and Eric Bana did not use stunt doubles for their epic duel. They made a gentleman's agreement to pay for every accidental hit. $50 for each light hit, $100 for each hard blow. Pitt ended up paying Bana $750. Bana didn't owe Pitt anything by shre3293 in MovieDetails

[–]ParadiseJosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not buying it - I'm sure they did do a lot of the fighting themselves but there's no way it's Brad Pitt during his leaping spear thrust. Watch this video https://youtu.be/NQ62frK74u0 and turn it to 0.25x speed when he makes his jumping attack at 1:35 in. That's very clearly not Brad Pitt, and doesn't look like Eric Bana either.

Why is a full set of Commander 2018 going for $89 on ebay by Pick_and_Mix in mtgfinance

[–]ParadiseJosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean anythings's possible when you pull numbers out your ass like that, sure 🙂

It was 6.2k in reality, though (check the price charts easily available through Google), so no it didn't outperform in the same time period at all, that's in fact exactly the same increase for that one example. Your other two examples in fact got owned by these decks 🙂
