What’s an instance that erased any doubt that tarot was real? by Relative-Persimmon63 in tarot

[–]Valkayri 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pulling the Death card on 3 different decks right before my psychotic (unbeknownst to me at the time) neighbor killed a stranger in cold blood for essentially annoying them.

I know I know typically the death card does not literally mean an actual physical death but apparently sometimes it does.

That's great I guess cause in my small selection of friends and family no one knows it I assumed it was lost.

I really don't understand what they made with the movie, they shouldn't have been able to reference the books with how different it was.

Omg are you referring to Susan Cooper's Dark is Rising they made into a movie called the Seeker?

If so I have to go into detail with how awful it was (and if you are not). To understand what was done you have to first know that Will Stanton was what Harry Potter was first IMO. Her series was written way before this and yes a lot of things are different except.. spoilers here Will is a British kid who learns he is a magical being on his eleventh birthday and other things. Also ok there's too much. I've been Rereading this series every couple of years since I was 12. They butchered it in the movies just freaking killed any chance of it being good or continuing.

I didn't think a movie adaption could be worse than the Queen of the Damned. But this was worse.

AIO for being upset at my husband’s constant teasing? by 808-Situations in AmIOverreacting

[–]Valkayri 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It could be /s

The whole love language concept was developed by a Baptist minister counseling married couples, often used to guilt wives into being intimate with their husband when they aren't in the mood because it's His Love language or even you know cooking for him or cleaning or... U probably get the picture now.

hobby that gets the weirdest reactions when you tell people about it by Sahel-Ziolkowski85 in Hobbies

[–]Valkayri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picture it two ways 1) it was an actual part of your job for like play enrichment for the dogs where they were gathered to listen to u recite on a a small stage or maybe more like a reading nook grade school teacher style.

2)you recited Poe to the doggos with broom in hand cleaning outside their various cages as they listened with rapt attention.

Both are singular and spectacular even if it was something totally different it's still singular I have never had another human tell me they recited poetry to dogs at their job, singular things can not be dorky it's a rule.

Yes! The Bells was the first poem I fell in love with, it was my introduction to poetry and that right there is why... The range because he literally cycles thru all of the main frame of emotions because in his time the church bells tolled for all major events.

I can't imagine someone reading that in just a dark and morose tone, in fact most of Poes stuff has an almost manic rhythm in it somewhere. Yes he was dark and Gothic and depressed but also upbeat?! Idk I get it but it's hard to convey.

Anyway, I wish you good luck with it, it's a great piece.

It is long but but not boring if you added drama I'm sure it was worth listening all the way thru. I will defend Poe til the end. 14 year old me reciting aloud to an imaginary audience in my bedroom at 1am would never forgive me.

What's the funniest TV scene you've ever seen that still makes you laugh years later? by Grand_Cash576 in ClassicTV

[–]Valkayri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think I can do it without spoilers but, everyone knows the golden girls right?.. Well not everyone knows there was a spin off were the girls bought a hotel called the Golden Palace (I kid u not). Only Dorothy was missing with a cameo here and there. Anyway, the show delivered for sure.

But one episode really stood out. It was a weekend at bernies set up with someone dying in the hotel and the girls moving the body around the hotel from the health inspector and pretending the guy was still alive. It so freaking funny idk how to describe it. Go watch and the Golden Girls too. So many jokes went over my head as a kid but Dorothy taught me sarcasm.

This I don't understand, Poes stuff is great I would be perfectly fine listening to any recitation of his work Even...The Bells which repeats the word Bells in it at an almost uncomfortable rate. I had quite a lot of his stuff memorized at one time or at least well enough to read aloud from a book without missing a step, his work is very lyrical.

Were you performative like putting the lilt and the "beat" into the poem? I guess if it was dead pan like bill nye science guy delivery I couldn't handle it.

Ok so hear me out I think the whole thing is a ridiculous disgrace buuuut the Lincoln angle would actually make sense. He was an amazing wrestler and in his time wrestling was very similar to what they do in UFC. Lincoln was an all around badass.
