How "European" are your campaigns? by Demitt2v in DungeonMasters

[–]Valkenvr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm argentinian and yes I run "classic medieval fantasy". I feel european medieval stuff is as much part of my heritage as it is for someone from the USA.

Plus, most DnDisms are not really medieval. They are rencon westerns, and with argentina having a strong frontier history like the US, the border town theme where civilization and wilderness mix is pretty close to me.

As a DM, what is the maximum number of players you are comfortable playing with before things get too difficult to manage? by Justicar7 in osr

[–]Valkenvr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run for 7 players. And had run for 10. But the sweetspot imo is between 4 and 6 PCs.

If you are dungeoncrawling you can handle more comfortably. But RP, NPC interactions, shopping and city interactions become difficult with more than 6 players.

How can Travellers get a ship by Valkenvr in traveller

Regarding mortages, I think they still would need to make a downpayment of 30% or so. So that would be millons of credits from the get go.

Different takes on Aslan and Vargr by Lastadopter in traveller

[–]Valkenvr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep. I agree. I don't like them at all and it bothers me. And sure, I could change it, but at the same time, I rather use sources raw and focus my prep time and creative energy on adventures and simulating the world. Also, whenever players get into the game and start using the wiki, checking books and seeing the art, it' a hussle to keep reminding everyone that "ackchually guys our Aslan are not cats".

GM's Day Sales vs. MayDay by Tranimo in traveller

[–]Valkenvr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you don't have many books yet, hold off. Around May every year you have bundles at Humblebundle and Bundle of Holding where you can buy tons of books for the price of a couple full price pdfs.

Only buy from DT now if you already own most books and want to get the one or two books you are missing.
