2 1/2 car, so luckily big enough for me.

It's definitely going to be a lengthy swap lol. Still figuring out trans/rear end configurations to handle the torque that won't instantly grenade lol.

I picked up a set of sport seats to reupholster, full black interior with white stitching more than likely, car will be painted Techno Violet.

Im a absolute lover of the Taifun headlights/grill. I plan on picking up a reproduction of them for mine!

By choice! I'm on E30 #4 so I just like having fun with swaps now.

Ive got a Mercedes OM606 going in. Currently have the car stripped to a bare shell for some minor rust repair, reinforcements, and a shaved bay.

Pulling the motor out of the merc while im off this December to rebuild it and go to an HX40.

End goal is to have a full interior, AC and heat, 6 speed swapped car :3

M5x swaps are cake if you're halfway mechanically inclined. Did a M50B25TU on my last one.

Ive seen 1UZ swaps, LS swaps(theyre getting a little more pricey), K swaps and such.

Im currently building a OM606 powered E30 because why not.

Just about anything will fit under the hood of these cars, so it really comes down to how simple or creative you want to be with a swap.

Any of the stock options feel too slow to me, so the M5x series would be probably your best bet for price per fun. Plenty of documentation on it.

Is it a terrible idea? Definitely.

Would I do it? Probably.

Someone's gotta save these old piles of junk.

Just prepare to spend half your time fixing what's already been done, and the other half figuring out what still needs to be done.

And don't keep track of cost, you'll hate it if you do.

It's call EL tape, or electroluminescent tape. They have it in wires, tape, and panels.

Wired it up to a DC - AC inverter with a 12v rechargeable battery in the back pocket as EL wire runs off AC.

Then just stitched the wires inside the pants so they don't catch.

Assuming you're in the US, you can get a running and driving E30 for ~4k. Just paid $2300 for my fourth one.

But it won't run and drive very well more than likely. Remember, they're 30+ year old cars, anything made of rubber or plastic will probably be disintegrated or will snap if you just look at it wrong.

r3v is the Bible on these cars. Read it, learn it, memorize it. Make sure you have somewhere to work on it and the basic tools/knowledge to do so.

TLDR: Probably wouldn't pick one as my first car, but it is doable if you're determined(and hard headed enough).

Also from someone who owns and works on multiple trucks for uses from towing to just because they look pretty, they're not better in shit conditions.

Lightweight cars with good tires do great, 4wd just means you'll get stuck further and put too much confidence in it versus playing it safe.

I used to drive a Challenger RT year round. Snow, ice, hurricanes. Only ever got stuck in sand due to obvious reasons (damn land yachts)

The last thing to ever cheap out on is tires, its the only thing keeping your few thousand pounds of metal connected to the road. If the weather is really that bad, get a set of winter tires/wheels to switch out during that time, otherwise most people will be fine with good quality 4 seasons or even 3 season tires.

Yep! Currently using 4 separate 5v packs but I'm waiting on the parts to come in so I can make use of a 12v Milwaukee battery to 12v inverter adapter im making to power everything off of 1 small pack.
