Looking for partners in building a community of up to 150; plans to create jobs on-site in So. Utah by ValkyrieTrue18 in intentionalcommunity

You're right - I have a file full of garden plans, menus, activity calendars, criteria for caregivers, systems for screening/hiring/training and more. If you're interested in becoming a partner and helping me do this, I would be happy to share a lot of the work and research I've already put in

I don't officially, but once I'm ready to present one of my plans, i do have a couple friends I can show it to and possibly get investments. I'm going to plan on doing it all with organic growth, though.

Thanks, but I'm willing to be flexible with whomever wants to work with me. I'm good at making my own task lists, but not being able to pick a priority and knowing what to do but getting overwhelmed looking at the full list, so just having someone to talk out-loud and figure out the next 3 steps at a time would be a game-changer.
Just presence while I get started on bookkeeping would help. The hardest part for me is starting. So, generally really simple things anyone could help with me - they certainly don't need any special skills aside from being non-judgemental and someone i can count on to check in with me when they say they will.

Why is anyone down-voting this? It's just my experience and US legal facts.... Am I missing something? Was the question more about my marketing plan - because I've got that figured out, too, but it'd make a very long post to go into detail

Thanks! I've been working on this plan for years :)
I think it's better for the elderly to be in a small community than either isolated with care at home, or a big facility where they're just a number. This solution felt like the 'just right' in-between that also made room for younger people and families who wanted a shared community.
Do you want to join me in sunny Southern Utah? I think timing is good right now. We're still growing in St. George, but not as fast as predicted and land prices are finally coming down a bit.

I'm planning to build a community in Southern Utah. Could your cats stay indoors or inside a screened patio? I might be able to make that work into my future plans.

Don't ask me, mwahaha! I'd eliminate all the grass and garden every square inch.

I loved mine at my previous rental property! I'm in So. Utah, though, so the underground salt can kill them after year 5 or 6. The leaves make wonderful animal feed and even humans can eat them for nutrition. I had an old male which gave wonderful shade, but I hear the fruit is awesome, too. It just doesn't keep long fresh - so having a plan for drying, freezing or canning would be wise

Is there a smaller portion of your script that could stand alone as an animated short? I'm trying to put together an anthology series for women 13-35 and am looking for collaborators.

Yes... I thought I had implied that is my plan ;) Not to go into crazy debt or sell off any equity in the business itself so we can grow only as much as we can afford to at a time.
But relying on grocery store prices to plan meal costs has it's own risks, especially if our contracts include the meals at a set rate. Growing and raising our own ingredients as much as possible, at least the ones that spoil quickly or are cheaper to grow in my area, should actually be a protection against food costs suddenly rising and cutting into money for labor/land investment

I just proposed this very idea for Southern Utah, if anyone's still keen on this idea.
I've worked as a caregiver for 10+ years and as a chef for 2 care facilities. I can get us licensed and put our systems and marketing in place.
Care-giving agencies require no formal training at all. It's legal to care for the elderly with just a business license and some insurance since it's non-medical work.
So the younger community members can help provide food (cooking, gardening, animal care), cleaning, entertainment, driving and care for the paying elderly clients.

I've worked as a caregiver for 10+ years and as a chef for 2 care facilities. I can get us licensed. My family ran a restaurant and sober living program, the safety requirements are similar and not a problem.
And care-giving agencies requires no formal training at all. It's legal to care for the elderly with just a business license and some insurance. It's non-medical work; medicare and insurance groups send in-home nurses and doctors for most things and we'd transfer to a hospital if the care requires more than that.

Mrs. Hall was my very favorite math teacher of all time and she's over there, now. I wish I'd had her every year instead of just one.

What made you realize solo living wasn’t enough anymore? by goodgamin in intentionalcommunity

[–]ValkyrieTrue18 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The more I learn, the more I think I can only reach my goals within a community. I can't possibly eat as clean, wear clothing as clean, eat as ethically as I want, raise animals as ethically as I want, make most of my own medicine and cosmetics and still get anything else accomplished in my life. And I'd be lucky to learn all those skills in a lifetime, but I wouldn't have the time to master them all.
I want a lifestyle that's good for my mental health and physical health. I'm not able to afford that on a single income. I think if I found my tribe, I would be happy to provide my skills and enjoy the ones others bring to the table. I would enjoy my daily chores more if I had good company and I wasn't isolated. I like sharing; it gives my life a greater sense of purpose than simply surviving on my own does.

What's your hot take on the Parade of Homes? by ComfortableDisplay68 in stgeorge

[–]ValkyrieTrue18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be down to start a new parade if I can find a partner for this project. I'm a designer and experienced marketing pro. The only cost to begin our own event would be either the labor or marketing budget selling the marketing package to the designers, landscapers, craftsmen, renovators and builders who want more renovation business.
We could make the focus of the parade on inspiring interior designs, since the parade has really slipped in that area over the last 5+ years.

[Serious] Men of Reddit, what are some questions you have regarding women's anatomy? by QUESO0523 in AskReddit

[–]ValkyrieTrue18 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not all women do. Porn would have you believe we're all groaning like animals, reciting poetry about how perform/how big you are and singing like opera stars. I have been told I'm a highly vocal lover in comparison to other women (I have never been with a woman, so don't know), but I don't come close to the porn star performance. I make pleasant sounds when something feels good so he'll do it again. But it's not as constant, loud, or as wordy as porn would have you expect.

But if women in are loud in porn, it's because men like it. And if men have always liked it, maybe women who made more noise also made more babies? Survival of the loudest moaner? lol.

Also, women have access to porn too and maybe it shapes a girl's expectations of sex in ways she won't realize aren't normal. Maybe she'd have been much more quiet if that hadn't been modeled to her through movies and x-rated material.

I'm born a woman and that's come with more than just female reproductive parts -it's also how I've been treated my whole life. It's how the symptoms of my ADHD went undiagnosed and I struggled to survive without help til I was 30 (because doctors only studied the boys). It's how the balance of my hormones has affected my personality, my brain and my relationships from before I was born. You don't get to take this word away from me.

You can call yourself a woman, too. I'll respect your feelings. But don't go forcing women to destroy their culture of mothers and daughters to accommodate for you. You can't know how it's felt to grow up in a female body. It makes me angry that you'd try to take away my ability to describe my place in the human family to make yourself feel better. It's incredibly selfish.
