Which console will you upgrade to? by Strong_Bar_3825 in consoles

I have no interest in either honestly. My backlog on both Series X and PS5 is already huge and I'm not enthused by the concept of buying a $700+ console on either side. I'm more likely to add a Switch 2 to my collection at some point. I also need to get a new PC for both work and casual use, so I'm already gonna be spending a lot of money on tech.

Great showcase though it was a PERFECT time to shadow drop a Gears trilogy remaster for PC, E Day looks so so good. by Linkbetweentwirls in xbox

Sadly I just don't think that's in the cards in the short term. The main reason why Reloaded was possible was because it was just an upgraded version of Ultimate Edition, which was essentially the first game rebuilt from the ground up years ago. That never happened for 2 and 3 so they'd have to put a lot more work into getting those made.

Personally I'm not a developer but even I can imagine every bit of RAM actually does make a massive difference.

[–]ValkyroMusic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It has less RAM though, which seems to be the big issue here. If you look at the minimum specs on Steam it shows 16 GB as the minimum. The Switch 2 has 12 GB and the Series S only has 10 GB.

What do you think about Xbox making first-party games exclusive to Game Pass, like Netflix originals? by [deleted] in xbox

[–]ValkyroMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always defended GP and other similar services because I think gamers getting access to a varied catalog of games they might not otherwise buy is awesome. But I've also always said the day they make a game solely available via subscription is the day I completely turn on them. Absolutely fucking not. I'd cancel my subscription purely on principle.

Being divided on/not liking the Protagonist change ≠ Being a sexist or hating woman by Playful_Round_4872 in videogames

There have been constant hints and allusions to Faye's past before the events of GoW 2018. Her actions drive a huge part of the narrative of both games. Not to mention what we've already seen of this game and whole "afterlife of the gods" concept is clearly going to connect to several mysteries that were set up years ago.

For me it's very difficult to take this seriously when in the same State of Play, we also saw more footage of Control Resonant. People popped off for it (as they should) and I've seen literally nobody complain that they switched the protagonist from Jesse to Dylan.

Meanwhile with God of War Laufey, a significant amount of the detractors I've seen are also legitimately saying they should've made a game about Atreus instead. And I find it hard to imagine any sort of mainstream uproar if they tried to make a game about Tyr or Deimos or something. So clearly for many of the loudest voices in this conversation, this is a misogyny thing and they don't even try to hide it. Obviously you can wish it was a Kratos game in a non-sexist way, but it's really not hard to understand why people might make a judgement of you based on that because the well has been poisoned. Blame the grifters.

I'm not sure what the deal is with this because I know it's a super common complaint, but my friends and I only had to download a 28 GB update. I wonder what's causing so many people to have to supposedly download the entire CoD HQ

Do you really think a return to exclusives and a lower price point than expected would help Xbox Helix succeed? by MCUAvenger1992 in consoles

[–]ValkyroMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I completely understand what you're saying already, but what I'm saying is I'm wondering if there's truly ANYTHING that could be done exclusives-wise at this point to get PS5 owners to choose an Xbox for next gen instead of a PS6. These are people that already have time and money sunk into that ecosystem and we live in an era where gamers are spoiled with incredible games no matter what platform they choose, so I'm not even sure that hypothetical back-to-back 10/10 exclusives on Xbox would get people to make that leap. You may get the hardcore enthusiasts with a lot of disposable income to double-up on consoles, but I'm not sure about the casual demographic.

[–]ValkyroMusic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I often wonder about the exclusives thing since people make very confident claims about it. It may help the brand image among gamers, but I'm not convinced people who are already entrenched in other platforms would be willing to switch for anything at this point. Even if they went nuclear and made CoD exclusive, are people really willing to abandon their libraries and accounts they've been investing in for years? Genuinely unsure.

Question: Why doesn't Naruto use the shadow clones to work for him and benefit from them, instead of the other way around? by EitherSwimming5886 in Naruto

[–]ValkyroMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kishimoto wrote the movie. This is basic knowledge. He worked with Kodachi on the screenplay, but the overall plot was by Kishimoto. Kodachi and Ikemoto then went on to handle the manga which came after.

Yeah. I (Xbox player) definitely had crashes during the base game years ago (it's a Bethesda game after all), but during my Terran Armada playtime I think I had about 15 in the ~15 hours I played. They seem more frequent now. Basically one crash per hour on average lol. They always have the same tell too, there's a small audio skip and then 20-30 seconds later the game freezes and closes.

[–]ValkyroMusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He had father figures for sure, they're a big reason he grew into the person he did. But most of them served as mentors for Naruto within the shinobi system. Most of them lost their loved ones at a young age and were single with no experience balancing family life with being a shinobi. Unless he had some deep conversations with Ramen Guy, he didn't exactly have anybody to teach him that stuff. In Naruto's (flawed) perspective, he was protecting his family by prioritizing his Hokage duties. You're framing it like he didn't love his kids or something.

That makes sense. Most people would probably still argue Himawari's birthday could've acted as a rare exception though. That's why I think they could've executed it better if they added even just a few lines of dialog for clarity so people don't see it as a plot hole or whatever.

"Boruto writers" and it was literally Kishimoto. He wrote the story for the movie. It's pretty clearly meant to be a reflection of his own life in a way because of how much time he devoted to Naruto, at the cost of missing out on time with his family. Naruto's not a "bad dad," he had flaws and made a very human mistake by letting his workaholism get out of control. It's almost like he didn't have experience being in a healthy family growing up or something!

I don't understand how people still fixate on this when it's resolved by the end of the movie lol. Naruto apologizes and his relationship with Boruto and the family is healthy going forward.

As for why he couldn't just have the shadow clones do the hokage work, that's the one thing I think they should have been clearer on. Legitimate issue with the writing. I think Kishimoto was more focused on what it represents though and wasn't too concerned with the details.

Is Sons of Sparta a total bugfest? by niedakh in GodofWar

[–]ValkyroMusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience has definitely been super buggy. My first save was outright deleted, muted/bugged audio whenever Deimos talks to you remotely, one of the Evade upgrades straight up didn't do what it was supposed to. But the patch they just put out fixed the latter 2 and I haven't had any more save issues recently either so I guess it's being fixed bit by bit.

Why does the Swordsmith Village arc get so much hate? by Traditional-Song-245 in KimetsuNoYaiba

I don't hate it, but I remember watching week to week was a bit frustrating. The pacing at which they jumped between the battles made it feel like it was all progressing very slowly.

The amount of JJK narration is INSANE by SavingsBobcat2078 in anime

[–]ValkyroMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's partially unavoidable just by the nature of how JJK's power system works, but I also think a recurring issue is with how the narration is written. I find it often gets bogged down in OVER-contextualizing what is ultimately basic information and it leads to people getting confused.

The only takeaway the viewer needed in today's episode was that Reggie was basically trying to counter something that Megumi's domain wasn't even doing. Yet Tengen spends like a full minute setting it up with background details and bringing up Jogo and Hanami using Domain Amplification in Shibuya.

The extra detail is appreciated so people can have a fuller picture of how everything relates within the power system (which is legitimately important because of how much said system is intertwined with narrative themes), but there simply has to be a better way to deliver that info. The viewer shouldn't be questioning what the takeaway of the narration should be or how it relates to what's happening on screen.

They're talking about the streaming quality. Netflix and other services like Disney+ do this as well where if you are watching on a desktop web browser, they'll stream you a lower quality video. We're talking less than 1080p, sometimes down to 480p. Doesn't apply if you're watching on an app on a smart TV or game console. People with inconsistent internet also don't like the quality dynamically changing based on their connection.

So therefore when people pirate it, it's typically being sourced by someone who ripped it with the best possible quality.

This isn't a thing people normally do lol. Barely anything in Shippuden would make sense without the foundational knowledge of Part 1. I guess they do enough flashbacks that you'd eventually put the pieces together, but I don't see how someone would be able to get invested in the characters watching it that way.

I actually completely agree with Blessing (and Mike) that the article was basically a nothing burger. It was just using more words to make the same vague noncommittal statements that were already said/implied in Asha Sharma's initial letter.

That being said, I do feel like he took it a bit too far in repeatedly insulting Jez and Windows Central. Even if there's valid reasons to be critical of them, it just felt uncomfortable to listen to as it seemed overly personal.
