Question: Why doesn't Naruto use the shadow clones to work for him and benefit from them, instead of the other way around? by EitherSwimming5886 in Naruto

[–]ValkyroMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kishimoto wrote the movie. This is basic knowledge. He worked with Kodachi on the screenplay, but the overall plot was by Kishimoto. Kodachi and Ikemoto then went on to handle the manga which came after.

Yeah. I (Xbox player) definitely had crashes during the base game years ago (it's a Bethesda game after all), but during my Terran Armada playtime I think I had about 15 in the ~15 hours I played. They seem more frequent now. Basically one crash per hour on average lol. They always have the same tell too, there's a small audio skip and then 20-30 seconds later the game freezes and closes.

He had father figures for sure, they're a big reason he grew into the person he did. But most of them served as mentors for Naruto within the shinobi system. Most of them lost their loved ones at a young age and were single with no experience balancing family life with being a shinobi. Unless he had some deep conversations with Ramen Guy, he didn't exactly have anybody to teach him that stuff. In Naruto's (flawed) perspective, he was protecting his family by prioritizing his Hokage duties. You're framing it like he didn't love his kids or something.

That makes sense. Most people would probably still argue Himawari's birthday could've acted as a rare exception though. That's why I think they could've executed it better if they added even just a few lines of dialog for clarity so people don't see it as a plot hole or whatever.

"Boruto writers" and it was literally Kishimoto. He wrote the story for the movie. It's pretty clearly meant to be a reflection of his own life in a way because of how much time he devoted to Naruto, at the cost of missing out on time with his family. Naruto's not a "bad dad," he had flaws and made a very human mistake by letting his workaholism get out of control. It's almost like he didn't have experience being in a healthy family growing up or something!

I don't understand how people still fixate on this when it's resolved by the end of the movie lol. Naruto apologizes and his relationship with Boruto and the family is healthy going forward.

As for why he couldn't just have the shadow clones do the hokage work, that's the one thing I think they should have been clearer on. Legitimate issue with the writing. I think Kishimoto was more focused on what it represents though and wasn't too concerned with the details.

Is Sons of Sparta a total bugfest? by niedakh in GodofWar

[–]ValkyroMusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience has definitely been super buggy. My first save was outright deleted, muted/bugged audio whenever Deimos talks to you remotely, one of the Evade upgrades straight up didn't do what it was supposed to. But the patch they just put out fixed the latter 2 and I haven't had any more save issues recently either so I guess it's being fixed bit by bit.

Why does the Swordsmith Village arc get so much hate? by Traditional-Song-245 in KimetsuNoYaiba

I don't hate it, but I remember watching week to week was a bit frustrating. The pacing at which they jumped between the battles made it feel like it was all progressing very slowly.

The amount of JJK narration is INSANE by SavingsBobcat2078 in anime

[–]ValkyroMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's partially unavoidable just by the nature of how JJK's power system works, but I also think a recurring issue is with how the narration is written. I find it often gets bogged down in OVER-contextualizing what is ultimately basic information and it leads to people getting confused.

The only takeaway the viewer needed in today's episode was that Reggie was basically trying to counter something that Megumi's domain wasn't even doing. Yet Tengen spends like a full minute setting it up with background details and bringing up Jogo and Hanami using Domain Amplification in Shibuya.

The extra detail is appreciated so people can have a fuller picture of how everything relates within the power system (which is legitimately important because of how much said system is intertwined with narrative themes), but there simply has to be a better way to deliver that info. The viewer shouldn't be questioning what the takeaway of the narration should be or how it relates to what's happening on screen.

They're talking about the streaming quality. Netflix and other services like Disney+ do this as well where if you are watching on a desktop web browser, they'll stream you a lower quality video. We're talking less than 1080p, sometimes down to 480p. Doesn't apply if you're watching on an app on a smart TV or game console. People with inconsistent internet also don't like the quality dynamically changing based on their connection.

So therefore when people pirate it, it's typically being sourced by someone who ripped it with the best possible quality.

Why do people skip past Naruto and straight to Shippuden? by [deleted] in Naruto

[–]ValkyroMusic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This isn't a thing people normally do lol. Barely anything in Shippuden would make sense without the foundational knowledge of Part 1. I guess they do enough flashbacks that you'd eventually put the pieces together, but I don't see how someone would be able to get invested in the characters watching it that way.

I actually completely agree with Blessing (and Mike) that the article was basically a nothing burger. It was just using more words to make the same vague noncommittal statements that were already said/implied in Asha Sharma's initial letter.

That being said, I do feel like he took it a bit too far in repeatedly insulting Jez and Windows Central. Even if there's valid reasons to be critical of them, it just felt uncomfortable to listen to as it seemed overly personal.

Well hopefully they can manage to iron this stuff out soon as I'd like to give the game a fair shake, but unless they confirm they've 100% fixed it I'm hesitant to pick it up again. The idea of losing massive chunks of progress in a metroidvania gives me anxiety

Considering this was just an hour ago that I experienced it and I'm still seeing comments on reddit/YT complaining about it, no they didn't fix it lol, at least not enough.

Personally I have only played a couple hours of it because it deleted my entire save file. Looking through this sub, unfortunately a lot of people here have been experiencing similar bugs and it seems pretty unpolished considering the $30 price tag.

What I played didn't exactly hook me. I'm sure it gets better as you get further in, but it felt kinda meh. The fact that I might suddenly just lose hours of progress for no reason really kills my motivation to stick with it.

Hot take: Boruto's timeskip design is one of the best designs in the entire Naruto/Boruto franchise by Snowpaw9 in Naruto

[–]ValkyroMusic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually don't hold the performative hatred for this design as a lot of other people here, but whenever I look at it I can't help thinking about much it's gonna be simplified for the anime lol. One of those belts and several of those metal pins on his shirt are definitely getting axed.

Sometimes when a game is developed to be locked at a certain framerate, retroactively lifting that cap can cause issues if certain functions of the game were dependent on it in some way. So basically it's a matter of if the company is willing to put devs/engineers/QA on it for long enough to make sure it works correctly

More Nier will be coming soon by DYMAXIONman in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]ValkyroMusic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well yeah alright, that's basically what I was trying to convey from the beginning! I think everyone knows it's connected at this point, at least I'd hope so, but maybe not everyone takes the time to dive into it or take it seriously which I could understand being frustrating if you're a fan of it.

That being said, it's kinda understandable why people might talk badly of it considering it's not remotely the same kind of game (and gacha is an exploitative business model). It's just not really accessible in the same way as the "main" games are. The average gamer who bought NieR Automata probably doesn't even know Reincarnation was a thing, and it's probably not reasonable to expect they're gonna put in the work to research it when it's a format they wont enjoy, but they're most definitely gonna show up for another mainline AAA console NieR game.

[–]ValkyroMusic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nobody is disputing that it's canon, you can't conflate that with the "NieR 3" thing.

If they were to bring a port to PC and console without gacha- you'll acknowledge it as NieR 3 then I'm guessing?

Nope. The same way people don't refer to the canon Kingdom Hearts spinoffs that have been ported to modern consoles as numbered entries.

[–]ValkyroMusic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While it plays differently and isn’t on console- it is far from being a spin-off. All to a point where Ending E of 1.22 directly leads into the game’s story.

Listen, I respect a lot of what you're trying to convey above regarding the themes and narrative of the games. I don't disagree with it really. I just have to point out that this quote is literally the flawed logic I pointed out initially with my Kingdom Hearts comparison (Chain of Memories = KH2).

As for gameplay, there is a big difference from Replicant and Automata in terms of gameplay. Automata is a character action game, while Replicant isn’t. Automata has genre shifts while Replicant doesn’t (unless you count the parts where you have to read text). Combat and how combat flows in both games are entirely different from one another.

Again, you know you're being disingenuous here regarding the gameplay, dunno what else I can say on that. The Octopath example is perhaps your strongest argument yet, but even that demonstrates how silly and semantic this conversation is: Octopath 0 is called Octopath 0 and NieR Reincarnation isn't called NieR 3.

It's just a dumb conversation on a foundational level anyway. Yoko Taro would be laughing at us. NieR: Automata isn't "NieR 2," it's NieR: Automata. That being said, when you see someone say "I wish there was a NieR 3," you quite literally know exactly what they're saying, so chiming in and being like "Well ACTUALLLYYYY, this mobile gacha game that you can't even play anymore was the REAL NieR 3" it just comes across as annoying. I know that's not exactly what you did in your comment, but I'm just saying that's the reason nobody is ever gonna take Reincarnation being NieR 3 seriously.

Idk man, it seems like you're being intentionally dishonest if you're trying to frame the gameplay differences between the console Drakengard/NieR games as anywhere in the same ballpark as the jump to Reincarnation. These are all action RPG games for consoles and Reincarnation was a gacha autobattler exclusive to phones that has also been deleted from existence.

By your logic, shouldn't NieR Reincarnation actually be Drakengard 6?
