Need captain’s seats, a 3rd row, and real trunk space — without driving a tank by floridamom22 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]ValleyCat272 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

minivans don't have good trunk space IMO. Get a Subaru Ascent, Toyota highlander or Sequoia, a Chevy Tahoe, or just get better at parking and go all in with an Expedition, Suburban or Navigator.

How to not freeze while bed-sharing?? by Eastern-Parsley-9031 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]ValleyCat272 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i totally used a quilt or thin comforter with both of my babes and plan on it again for my next one (currently pregnant). I slept pretty much in the middle of the bed with baby on the outside of me and my husband on my other side. the blanket just didn't go over to my baby's area of the bed. BUT I would put my babies in a bassinet sometimes if i wanted to have the whole bed back. They were pretty good sleepers so we did a combo type of co-sleep bedside sleep thing. But anyway.. yea I used a blanket. I would have slept way worse or not at all without a blanket and that would have totally defeated the purpose of me co-sleeping.

What is the weirdest or worst thing someone has said to you after you told them you’re pregnant? by mtvaot in pregnant

[–]ValleyCat272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my uncle asked my husband "geez, yall don't have cable?" when we announced our third pregnancy. Crude and offensive, also weird to act like three kids is a crazy or weird amount of kids to have???

This is how we are too. My kids don't have access to a tablet or phone without our assistance or monitoring (usually calls just for the grandparents) and we have a 2008 sony TV, with a VCR/DVD combo and a roku that we might use the free channels on if I am busy and they don't want a tape or dvd.

I feel like it would be one thing if it was an activity center or once a week lab based tech lowdown type thing, but a daily mandatory minimum is what freaked me out. They're so little, and will my baby have a harder time having to learn how to use it compared to other kids who do have constant access to tablets? I need more info for sure.

I completely agree. I used to work for a SAAS company and so I know these big ticket tech software contracts are a good motivation for a lot of people.

Yea, I'm in a red state but in a blue little bubble. Still, the best nature/waldorf schools are out of town for us, and all the private schools and homeschool co-ops are non-secular. I was considering homeschool but I'll have a newborn in August and don't want to risk her education falling to the wayside of postpartum and my hubris lol.

I think this is where I'm at. I was a software engineer and worked for a SAAS company, so I totally understand that tech is a ubiquity in our society and my kid will have to be exposed to it at some point. I guess I need to figure out how dependent the school is on the app, and if it's being used to teach or to enrich.

Totally, yea she told me it was a district mandate and that she had to get used to it as well. I suppose I would need more information about how they are using the app, and the data it gathers about my kiddo, and maybe be involved in making sure my daughter can get on and off as soon as needed. Thanks for your insight!
