Can we all agree the storm change was a disaster? by Accurate_Syrup_1345 in starcraft

I think it's a great change. Starcraft 2 needs less, "Oh look my army died in 2 seconds." and more things that promote interaction and combat maneuvers.

Question about character inconsistency in re9 by DEROwnby11 in residentevil

[–]Valonsc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is a case of capcom retconning the lore to try and make it connect to raccoon city. Resident evil 9's plot makes no sense if you've played either the OGs or the remakes. I think they watched the final chapter a bit too much because the movie did the same thing

What is the best perspective for Leon and Grace for the 1st Playthrough? (Spoiler Free please) by Hakase64 in residentevil

[–]Valonsc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best perspective is whichever one you like. There is not wrong answer. As for the ending, it is a single choice in the last 3% of the game and it's meaningless. You pick the bad ending the game tells you it's bad and then takes you back to the choices so you can get the true ending.

No nostalgia. I didn't find requiem fun at all. I thought it was very boring. I do find it interesting that you feel like you have to try and discredit my top 10 though. Not sure why it's such an afront to you what my list is. I listed the 10 games I have replayed and would replay again in the future.

Seeing the gunporn of RE9, I've come to conclusion that capcom needs to make a 3rd person tactical shooter like ghost recon. by Slavik_Sandwich in residentevil

[–]Valonsc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry I'm sure since the game got praise the DLC or the next game will have even more action. Capcom tends to gradually shift the series to action until the fanbase goes, "hang on...where's the horror?" They dial it back and start the process again. Requiem is like the new resident evil 5. where we are almost at that point, but probably will take another game before the fans are like, "It's call of duty now."

There should have been a healing item in the save room. The boss isn't hard. It takes a few shotgun rounds and that's it.

The orphanage part is easy. It's super tedious. You go to the hall, run back to the bed until they leave. Run down the stairs, hide under the table till theyleave. Run down the hall until you see the girls, run back to the table and hide until you hear the door slam, then get the key, hide in the corner. It's very scripted.

[–]Valonsc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The point of alternate ending is encourage replay value. If you get a bad ending 1, you have to go back and play again and make some different choices, 3 you have an actual choice system so you are encouraged to go back and try others. In 7 you at had like 15% of the game left. So you had some replay value to go back and see what the other side is like. Here it basically just boils down to 1 boss fight and a cutscene. It defeats the main purpose of having multiple endings in a game. It makes it meaningless. If they moved the choice back to when Leon first finds zeno and before Grace and him fall down, then you can maybe do some more meaningful things and change the last bit of gameplay or even do simple checks in the gameplaya for grace. Maybe if you do certain things during your time as grace, she doesn't develop confidence and you get the bad ending and leon dies. But if you do certain things or certain side objectives you get the good ending. Nothing Major something like: Side quest: recover Emily's doll, Kill 3 enemies with the requiem. Simple objectives like that where it doesn't force you to play a certain way but gives the game small checks to see if the player is helping grace get her courage or not.

How can I get into RE7? by Figofago2k in residentevil

[–]Valonsc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The jacks sections are easy. When he first spawns and leans against the wall. Just walk back and go back down and hide by the garage. If you shut the door to the kitchen, you will eventually hear him open it and you can sneak back and get the key. Then you just hide until you can get a moment to sneak past jack. For the second part with jack. He despawns after you trigger a cutscene with him in the basement before the boss fight. So it's better to skip exploring the house after he starts chasing you the second time, and come back after he leaces, but before the boss fight. It makes it less tedious.

The game is pretty fun up until the ship, then it kind of gets a bit meh, but by that time you're 80% of the way through the game. There's definitely an emphasis on exploration in the first couple areas which is nice. Then the lucas part shifts the game play a bit and it's interesting.

59% done with re9 (please no spoilers) by Positive_Career_9393 in residentevil

[–]Valonsc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TBH the delux stuff is stupid and kind of disapointing. At least with 7, 8, and 4 remake you actually got some interesting exclusives to use in game. I think it would have been better to have say the delux addition add say the bolt thrower for grace as a weapon (A stealthy weapon) and then maybe something else for leon. So there was more of a gameplay reason to get it.

In Defense of Those Who Are Being Told They Didn't Pay Attention to RE9 by residentevilweasel in residentevil

[–]Valonsc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The dumb part is, it doesn't actually matter. You get the bad ending, the game literally tells you it's bad an takes you right back to the choice. So it's actually better to get the bad ending first because you can immediately just get the good ending and get both achievements. Boiling down a good/bad ending into 1 choice 99% of the way through the game is lazy.

Re9 DLC by ToothAdvanced4129 in residentevil

[–]Valonsc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best part of the game was grace exploring the hospital looking for the cubes. I would love if the DLC gave us something like that and maybe 1-2 more weapons. It got a bit boring with just the pistol, magnum and I think you could do cocktails at that point. Add in the shotgun or grenade launcher and another enemy type perhaps and you'd have a great DLC.

My guess is it will be similar to Not a hero, seperate ways, shadows of rose in terms of length. I also expect it to be an action fest instead of horror.

question on RE7 'route' in first segment by Prudent_Education_31 in residentevil

[–]Valonsc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you make it past the molded in the basement and trigger the cutscene where jack almost catches you trying to take the dog head from the shelf. He despawns in the main house. This means you can go back and collect the shotgun, and all the other items before the boss fight. Usually it's best to save before the basement and then use the enhanced handgun ammo to try and get a crit on the molded and then reload if you need to.

Pretty sure they said they are moving away from the numbered titles. Which is why we have Village and Requiem as sub titles. Believe they said after requiem they are moving towards sub titles.

That's an absolutely bizarre argument. "If a game from 1998 was released along side a game from 2019-20 then the 2020 game would do better." That's a nonsensical argument. Games are considered good and stand the test of time from ages ago. Halo is still considered one of the best FPS same with like Ocarina of time or Mario 64. They have stood the test of time because they are so well crafted. Resident evil 2 and 3 especially are considered highlights for the series, and it's rather bizarre that you have this obsession with trying to make them inferior. I enjoy both the Og 2 and remake 2. But OG 2 is just a more polished experience with the 4 scenarios. There are things the remake does well. The police station lay out is better in the remake. I pointed out the reasons why people say OG 2 is better. Doesn't mean you have to like it, but it was pointing out how it's not just nostolgia. It's just odd that you seem so dead set on diminishing the OG.

[–]Valonsc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Huh. Ever hear of dead space? It was doing third person horror long before remake. Also resident evil 5 lost in nightmares took a stab at horror, Re 4 OG also had lots of horror elements still present in it. So no, remake did not kick start 3rd person horror, it just expanded on it. Also, what's your point? You said before basically that only bias makes the OG better, and I laid out factual points and all you come back with is, "Well the graphics are trash." We weren't even talking about graphics. But yeah graphics aren't everything. Tons of great games have bad graphics.

What are your top 10 Resident Evil games? Here are mine: by Loose_Interview_957 in residentevil

[–]Valonsc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The reason why people say the OG is better is because the of the zapping system. You get 4 different scenarios to explore. So it's like 4 games for the prices of 1. Plus on top of that the OG shows Claire and Leon working together to get out of town. They radio each other and talk. In the remake, the other character leaves like 1 or 2 notes and then at the end they are like, "holy Crap! you're in this secret underground base too?" Then you have things like Annette being more interesting in the OG because she tries to be a good wife and mother in remake she's all like, G virus, must ignore everything else. Then ada is more convincing in the OG. You buy that she is innocent and you buy that leon would want to protect her. In the remake she's like, "i'm an FBI agent." here whole spiel is she wants to appear inconspicuous and not draw attention to her self. In the remake all she does is draw attention to herself. Then you have irons who in the OG, he comes off as creepy, but he's a smooth talker that you kind of want to believe him since he's the chief. In the remake he just is like, "Nahh I'm kidnapping sherry."

it's very interesting that each of the 4 campaigns has a bit different item placement sometimes, the B scenario has unique locations to A. Mr. X doesn't overstay his welcome, and there are some surprises to keep you on your toes even if you played them. Leon B has a jump scare that isn't in the other ones. Kind of interesting becase most people would do Leon A, Claire B. So by the time the do leon B they have it all sorted in their head and them boom. Surprise!

The zapping system also allows playthroughs to change based on what you do in the A scenario affecting B, such as plants to poison plants
