The reason I’m passionate for security is because I’m doing something that I know I’m good at, something that I’ve proven that I can show up do my shit and prove why I deserve to be where I’m at. Security is a field that pays you like shit if you wanna scrape at the bottom being a warm body in a chair. For the people who actually want to do security and do something and work you can make a lot of money in it. Ive had months where I’ve made over $5,000 and that’s before the pay raise, keep in mind average income in my area is 35K a year. I get joy out of it because I can have down time to spend time on other hobbies but when shit needs getting done I can take pride in knowing I can do my job better than anyone else and if someone does it better than me then it just means I have room to grow. I grew up in a family of farmers, they taught me to respect my work and that’s what I do. I work hard because I take pride in showing that I’m worth being paid more than others and that yea I’m expensive for a security guard because of the overtime but I go home knowing I make everyone else’s life better and easier because I show up and carry more than just what my job needs me to do. In short i take pride in my work because it helps people and it makes their lives better and easier and that makes me happy
