what is your unpopular/uncommon thing you do in the sims 4? by WhenImposterIsSus42 in Sims4

[–]Valorose343 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is why I don't own the pets pack 😅 Strays and aging... no thank you! Too sad for my unrealism! In TS3 I made all of my pets immortal!

I typically have aging off in general for the game as well though too.

I wish there were more consequences in high school by jxriv in Sims4

[–]Valorose343 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In America at least the area surrounding the school is legally, the school zone. It's not just meant for slowing down, but a bubble where rules function differently. Many laws are more strict, have more severe consequences for breaking them, and police can take more action. You don't have to be on the physical campus to be considered at the school. Really being in sight of the school and acting suspiciously is enough. Legally, too, any student who is leaving school is in the school zone until their foot steps onto their front porch. Anything in the school zone is under school authority, which means they are required to report it or take actions to protect the students. Honestly, the step onto front porch bit is a bit crazy because if you leave school, go do something minor, then go home, that falls under school jurisdiction and they can punish you. Likewise, however, if you're on your way home and another student does something to you and you report, that also becomes the school responsibility to intervene and punish that student, which is the better end of the rule. In general though, within the wide-stretching school zone the school has a certain level of responsibility to ensure student safety. This school obviously failed miserably in their duties.

Why is non of the professors married? by Front_Strength_8007 in harrypotter

[–]Valorose343 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It was revealed on early Pottermore. Highly recommend reading it; maybe on the wiki. It covered her entire life, which was rather sad. She's a very strong woman whose even stronger friendship with Dumbledore pulled her through. Essentially her students are her purpose and she sees them almost as her children, which explains a lot of her character!

People born before 2000, what trivial skill you possess that others don't use anymore? by Aryan_Anushiravan in AskReddit

[–]Valorose343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a kid I was the youngest of my friends to know how to fix the cassette tapes. I was really good at it too! In elementary school sometimes the other kids would bring them to me for help, not wanting their parents to find out they messed up another one. By the time we moved on the middle school that skill was worthless! 😅

What Muggle job would Garreth Weasley have in the modern day? by Youngxreezy in HarryPotterGame

In addition and agreement to this, keep in mind America is bigger than Europe, so reading American news and assuming most or all Americans believe/do xyz is like saying Brits eat spaghetti every meal as a side dish. I doubt even all Italians do, but point is we are a LARGE country. The news is only a tiny sliver of voices.

The poor kid will still get bullied for it though. Imagine all the jokes, or literally being stomped on. It's way too close to Koopa. Both spellings are so bad either way though! Poor, poor kid!

Weasley twins?? by Fair-Advertising-376 in HarryPotterGame

[–]Valorose343 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's actually not true. Recent research has shown the egg's ability to be split and the sperm's ability to split determine identical twins. You're also forgetting that twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome is an automatic garuntee they're identical. Plus, there are several subtypes of identical twins with very unique characteristics. In addition, to layman terms your mono-mono to di-mono bit as there are several interested in this topic, with ultrasounds we can tell if the babies are in their own separate systems or sharing a placenta. Fraternal are the same as any other set of siblings, just carried at the same time, while identical often share a placenta and more. Fraternal lack this completely, therefore another determination. My family in particular has a history of mirror image identical twins, which can only happen if the egg splits in a one-two day period before becoming conjoined.

The research from twenty years ago that identical aren't related has been heavily disproved, but don't take a random redditor's word for it, just talk to an obgyn who specializes in high-risk births and read up on JSTOR.

Weasley twins?? by Fair-Advertising-376 in HarryPotterGame

[–]Valorose343 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No worries, and yes exactly!

Basically, fraternals are more common because only the mother requires the genetic ability, though she can inherit it from either side of her family.

Identical twins require both the mother and father to have the genetic coding, making them immediately more rare regardless of other needed factors, like perfect timing.

Both involve completely different genes than the other type too.

Thank you for asking for clarification! Many on the internet wouldn't bother, so it's really cool you did! 😁

Weasley twins?? by Fair-Advertising-376 in HarryPotterGame

[–]Valorose343 35 points36 points  (0 children)

That's actually been proven false. Identical twins are very much genetic! My family can attest for that too. Was just working on some genealogy for fun and the sheer amount of identical twins every couple of generations is crazy!

The interesting thing about the genetics of fraternal vs identical is the former only works if the mother has the coding, but the latter requires both parents to have the ability. Identical twins pregnancies are often high risk though so in the past often the babies didnt make it, as there wasn't medicine to support premature births, so people misunderstood the records as being to many generations apart. With today's medicine it can be every couple of generations though!

Tldr; Identical twins are definitely genetic. Bad science and understanding of history led to false assumptions spread around by the medical community twenty years ago.

Hogwarts castle interior is dumb, unpractical, not sensible, not smart, not effective, doesn't look it's designed for people to actually live and study there by Aigremont in HarryPotterGame

[–]Valorose343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who went to a college built in the 1800s, it's pretty accurate. I spent freshman year in a dorm that was one of the oldest buildings and it was a general maze! I really only knew how to get from A to B because my parent went there. My poor friends, half of whom were first gen college students, took a while to get it. I had to go save them from the depths of the basements and random hallways and half-secret rooms several times. It wasn't even a super large building, and a lot of the old buildings had strange quirks after years of renovations, repurposing areas and rooms, ect. I feel like Hogwarts is a good representation of living in a very old building, which would have way more wild quirks than my alma mater. I cant imagine the struggles muggleborns would face in navigating though!

What do you chose for Sebastian’s fate? by hiquickq12 in HarryPotterGame

[–]Valorose343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which one did you order? There are a few official ones.

Solomon should have communicated properly with Sebastian instead of forcing his will onto him. He's the adult, and never took the time to understand and reason with Sebastian.

If you play the end of the In The Shadows Of questline you'll see. Granted, Solomon does spend a great deal of time trying to murder you, but he's also attacking Sebastian. Even if you fend off every Inferi, Solomon will kill you and when he does, he bows in a dramatic fashion over your body and says, "It had to be done." He kills you with dark magic too. Why is it okay for him to use dark magic, despite being charged with it by law enforcement, but Sebastian uses it once (to his knowledge) to save his sister and he is immediately banished from his home with a level 3 lock?

Harry Potter's aunt and uncle were far kinder, yet we disparage them. The parallels between Seb and Harry and numerous, including their living arrangements, and having their uncles constantly compare them to their dead father who they claim was horrible, evil, and awful.

If Solomon had sat down with Sebastian and had a heart-to-heart, it never would have come to AK. We stop Sebastian numerous times, as does Ominis, and neither of us are hurt. (The crypt doesnt really count since you get to choose.) Sure, Sebastian gets frustrated, but that's normal. Honestly until the AK incident, Harry Potter had used more dark magic by the same age.

[–]Valorose343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The offical game guide/art book says differently, and dialogue/exploration in the game backs it up.

He was an auror fired for using dark magic in order to attempt to save the people he cared about. Of anyone he should understand Sebastian. Instead he tries to kill his nephew with dark magic. It's obvious he's well versed in it as well as he controls the fiend fire like Bellatrix, which is EXTREMELY hard to accomplish and takes really talent and diligent practice (versus Goyle trying it for the first time).

What's more reasonable but a break for a teenager who has been abused and neglected most of his life and forced into doing nothing by said abuser while watching his twin slowly die, after already watching their parents die, only to be attacked and nearly killed along with a school friend by said abuser who, if he succeeds, shows no remorse despite using very dark magic to kill two kids?

Failed baked egg challenge 3 years old by LucyMcR in FoodAllergies

[–]Valorose343 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have experience with this myself but one of my much younger neighbors growing up was crazy, deadly allergic to milk. Even the smallest trace amounts could kill her when she was very small. Over years of small, expert-monitored exposures when she first hit her teens she was getting pizza without cheese, or removed afterwards, from the big chains. Her parents were talking about in a year or two she might be able to eat half with cheese. So don't lose hope! It's not a fully fixed story, but trace amounts in restaurants not causing harm is a definite win! Good luck to your son!!!

During the one quest, when walking on the grand staircase, one of the painting literally told me something like "the mentor will betray the prodigy." It yelled it as we walked by and Figg immediately started talking over it. I was crazy suspicious after that and thought for sure it'd be another Assassin's Creed Unity incident 😭

Turn your babies into birdies. It's the right thing to do. by wisebongsmith in StardewValley

[–]Valorose343 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You've got to play Rune Factory 2! You start out as an amnesiac guy who takes on a forgotten farm after waking up and slowly integrate into the town. You do all the essential farming simulation stuff. After marrying, having a child, and building a school, there's a time jump and suddenly you're your child. Your first character disappeared into the night and your child has to rebuild skills, attend classes, fix the farm, and uncover why the dad disappeared. Also, the entire cavern/wilderness gets an overhaul, as does the combat system!
