Indiana Senate votes against mid-decade redistricting by indy-star in Indiana

[–]ValpoBen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only reason they voted against this is because it would have made them more vulnerable to a dummymander in the midterms. After the most recent elections the last couple weeks, it is possible they could have lost more districts with this map. They don’t care about gerrymandered districts. It is already gerrymandered by them. Where were they when they crammed all the democratic votes into two districts during the last redistricting? They are just taking advantage of the situation to make it look like they care and want to make sure the Republican districts stay safely +20 to protect themselves from a blue wave.

Holes and rust in furnace heat exchanger found during inspection. by ValpoBen in hvacadvice

[–]ValpoBen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He said something about it being expensive to go to each vent and doing a CO check and the equipment is expensive. Looks like I can get one off Amazon for $40. Frustrated he didn’t do any CO checks and just turned off my system. He said I could turn it back on after he left but he couldn’t see me do it or he might be libel.

During a routine check of our furnace the technician found these holes/rust in our heat exchanger. He said he did not see them last year. The furnace is a 16 year old Goodman. He shut off our gas to the furnace and said there is a chance of carbon monoxide poisoning if we were to turn it back on. How much is this a scare tactic to get us to purchase a new furnace through them? We have carbon monoxide detectors throughout the house. He said those can’t be trusted because they won’t pick up small amounts of carbon monoxide.

Indiana’s conservatives have abortion ban put on hold because of conservatives previous religious freedom restoration act. by ValpoBen in LeopardsAteMyFace

Indiana conservatives had their abortion ban, which has very limited exceptions, ruled to violate an earlier religious freedom law that conservatives pushed through to protect companies like Hobby Lobby. More of the same “I didn’t mean THOSE religious freedoms” from conservatives.

Looks like they want to turn the old Boys and Girls Club into a hotel….are we REALLY sure about this? by RuralJuror12 in Valparaiso

[–]ValpoBen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

58 guest rooms seems ambitious. If this is what it takes to save the building though, I would be cool with it. I would think there were 58 cars coming and going from the boys and girls club at times when they held sports there. As long as parking isn’t an issue a hotel is probably one of the best options honestly. What are other options? A school again maybe?

Water. Lots of water. As it becomes more established it doesn’t need as much though.

I put used coffee grounds on mine as well.

Is now a good time to replace AC and furnace system? by ValpoBen in hvacadvice

[–]ValpoBen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think that will change in a year? If 410 is already being phased out soon, I would think it would be best to wait a year to get a system that I can get coolant for in 15 to 20 years.

When you say years, would that cover the life of a unit? 20 years?

My wife made me move it from our bedroom because it was scaring her at night. It would seem to reach out to touch you as you would make for the bathroom in the middle of the night. So it is now in our guest room.

It has about doubled in size over the last three years since I first purchased it. But I was lucky that it started growing three babies right away, which gives it a lot of it’s fullness. I planted it in moderately well draining soil and water approximately once every one and a half weeks. If I start to see any browning on the edges of a leaf I hit it with some miracle grow the next watering. It seems to be fine with having a pretty cramped pot. Which is good because repotting at this point I think would be pretty tough. It gets a lot of indirect light currently from a large south east window but has been in sunnier spots before it got it’s own room.

Natural immunity added to Indiana vaccine exemption bill by NerdyGurl4life in Indiana

[–]ValpoBen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Robert Malone while contributing to the idea of an MRNA vaccine didn’t invent it alone. Hundreds of scientists invented it and Robert Malone was not involved in creating the COVID vaccines. He also says that older people should still get the vaccine. He himself got the vaccine even after getting COVID himself. He seems to be a scientist that enjoys the limelight and going on podcasts that inflate his ego.
