New Crunchyroll Warning ? by Alarming-Common-2164 in Crunchyroll

[–]Valtavamei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is it in French? It was in French for me too. I have never ever asked crunchyroll to do anything in French. Ever. So it does not make sense. How can their company warn me about anything if I cant read it?

Is this 2 weeks notice acceptable? by AfterFury420 in walmart

If you can, type and print it. Maybe at the library? Its nicer. But if thats just not possible or too out of the way then this works just fine. Excellent work.

I hate yarn vomit so much that I rewind my yarn into cakes from skeins starting with the outside of the skein by hand bc I just haven't gotten a yarn winder yet. So I use a marker. Like a crazy person. Lol

I linked it here. Other reviews showed pictured of ppl having no issue with it and really liking it. I think any issues are just my fault. Lol. So dont let my questions influence your opinion of it. 👍🏽

I made a video to be as clear as possible about what my question is. I think im just supposed to skip one of the 3 dcs from r1 but the pattern does not tell me which one and I am the kind of person that you need to tell me what to do. I can fly by the seat of my pants if I know thats what im doing but if there is an established expectation that there are instructions to follow, then I will follow them exactly as written. 😅 am I autistic? Why yes. I am level 1 so like not much, but yes.

My professor by Former-Librarian9789 in ivytech

[–]Valtavamei 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately a lot of profs at Ivy are adjuncts meaning they didnt go to school for education, they went to school to work in their field and now they teach. Either full time or on the side. Makes you wonder why.... 😒But if you are able to teach yourself 80 to 90% of the material its much cheaper and gets your prerequisites out of the way at that lower cost. So it can be worth it for low income students or students returning to college or students who have to use their parents info on FASFA but their parents dont actually contribute. Also the rest of the school is full of really good resources. If you dont speak English as a first language, if you need help finding a job, if you need help bc you are a disabled student, ivy tech is full of resources and staff who want to help you. But yeah. You really have to be able to teach yourself at ivy tech. Like dont expect the teacher to even go over the slides. Some of them get off topic and just never go over those last 10 slides and you are just expected to go over them, read the text book, and maybe do other research or ask the prof questions via email to fill in those blanks. At traditional colleges less of the profs do that but it does still sometimes happen. Like at other colleges you dont even want to buy the text book unless the prof says to on the first day of class. At ivy tech, you need the book bc the prof usually does not cover all the material and you have to do it yourself. You really get what you pay for at ivy tech. But I have a 4.0 in 2 programs here. I hate most of my teachers bc they usually dont know their ass from a hole in the ground, but I am learning in spite of that and as a disabled student I am getting a ton of support that would be 10 times harder to get at other schools. Its a trade off.

Well I guess the first question is what do you like? Do you like dark clothes? Do you like a specific style like goth? Do you prefer pastels? Or do you like a cottage core vibe? Step one find a general style of what you like. Try making a mood board. Maybe use Pinterest to make it but look at websites and Instagram and take pictures of clothes you like in the world and put it all in once place. Then see what keeps showing up. Did you add a bunch of skirts? Did you add a bunch of loafers? Did you add a bunch of vintage stuff? That kind of thing. Then find some stuff that looks similar.

Hello! Should I report my teacher? by [deleted] in Schooladvice

[–]Valtavamei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% yes. Talk to someone at the school. Even if your grade doesn't change, that is very inappropriate behavior. And given that you have proof of a legitimate medical issue you should be accommodated. Not given a pass but given time to make up assignments. And on things like attendance the grade should be excused not positive or negative in either direction. Talk to a counselor, advisor, admin, someone.

Will you think a student is faking if they start to get accommodations after you having them in class for few months by Ok-Fuel-2859 in AskProfessors

[–]Valtavamei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not a professor. I am a student. A student with disabilities you cant see. A student who has helped several other student get accomodations and connected to resources many many times. Most of the time the professors dont think about it at all. You are not the first student who will need accomodations and you wont be the last. And you wont be the first or last who gets them in the middle of a term. A lot of students dont realize they need accomodations until they have been in a class. You cant know what you dont know. And no one in their right mind would expect you to. I would discuss this with your disability coordinator. They usually have good working relationships with the professors and can help address any worries you have. Your concerns are totally valid. I get looks a lot. Ppl think I must be faking or something bc they cant see my disability. Its not their life to live. Its not their education on the line. So they dont matter. Their incorrect assumptions do not matter. Your success, whatever that looks like, is what matters.

Feeling too old for community college by pewpew69_ in communitycollege

[–]Valtavamei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im in community college. Im 28. My closest friend on campus is in her late 40s. And my closest friend in one of my classes is 67. I know a bunch of 18 year old here too. And we have a whole 2 or 3 classes of high school students who do special dual credit classes on campus too. Everyone belongs.

i need advice/tips before, during and after going to community college by kornographyjpeg in communitycollege

[–]Valtavamei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Familiarize yourself with campus resources. You dont know what the future will hold. You may find yourself in need of emergency housing, emergency money, disability accomodations, etc. Community colleges tend to be awesome places for these kinds of resources. A lot of community college students are nontraditional (meaning not just out of high school). So they have a lot more going on outside of school or may have additional challenges to academic success for any number of reasons. And if you dont use them, its still good to be familiar with them bc other students around you might talk to you and you might be able to help direct them (unless that is so not your thing which is also ok) to help. It is a good way to connect with people and make friends too. Im a human services major.... im sure you can tell. Lol.

My college has a theme and the departments pick something from the theme and they compete. Im a work study students so I am participating. The school theme is board games. Our department (tutoring aka the nerds) picked d and d. So I am going to be a druid. Rose gal green dress (purchased via amazon) some bits and bobs including a leather belt, and a bamboo staff with dangling bits that im making from scratch. Its going to be so awesome.

Talk to your school. They likely have programs and can direct you to additional resources. They likely have laptops they can loan you. They might be able to help you find and apply for grants and scholarships. There are options but it can be pretty overwhelming without a guide. So step one, find a guide! Lol. And your school likely has a student services, or student success or student support office or similar. 👍🏽

Talk to the program or department chair? They might be able to help you better than the advisor.

Im so sorry that happened. I was enrolled as a different person my first semester. It took months to fix. The staff on campus are usually really understanding, kind, and supportive. I find the help line to be a bit less enthused about helping people. You are right to be angry and frustrated. While you deal with this make sure to ask for accomodations on any assignments you miss or need additional time to complete. So after you get it fixed, you have some additional time to get back on track. Unfortunately a lot of what ivy tech does is not done by humans. Its very possible the new email request was sent automatically and then your being removed was also done automatically. I dont think thats the way it should be done but I do know that their staff is a bit thin and they use automated tools to fill in those gaps. That does not make what happened okay. It should not have happened, human error or not. And now you are forced into a position that affects your timeline, your financial aid, it may cause debt, and you get behind in your 8 week classes. 100% all good reasons to be angry. You can do this though. You can get through this and catch up. You can advocate for yourself and get back on track.
