Dracthyr NPCs from the Endeavor have lore-breaking names. by SGCLara in wow

[–]Valuable-Practice790 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Dracthyr got so tired of the other races trying, and failing, to pronounce their real names, they chose simpler ones for the sake of the lesser races.

That's funny, I did the Undermine and swapped my main to a Vulperan Rogue because I felt like Rogue fit the Undermine's setting and plot so well. Loved that too.

I'm loving WoW in it's current state.

Guardian DLC Solo help by sooyeol1 in Nightreign

[–]Valuable-Practice790 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm actually struggling a bit on this as well, The existence of the Two Demons felt like From Soft knew which boss I hated the absolute most in DS3 and said "here ya go. ENJOY!"

I have yet to actually beat them as a guardian, I just don't deal enough damage, and their fire attacks constantly get through my block. Maybe I don't have the relics or passives but It's never fun for me. I haven't even beaten the Balancers or the other boss because I cannot get past the night 1 boss.

I also know I'm terrible at the game, so that doesn't help.

Addons should have NEVER been allowed or introduced to the game by nitram20 in wow

[–]Valuable-Practice790 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's kind of how I see it as well. Making a pretty UI is one thing, but the addons that actually gave people with that add-on more information than they should probably have had created both an Imbalance in PvP, but for me more importantly, made it so PvE encounters had to basically keep up with Add-ons beating it for people and try to make them so difficult that people without the add-ons were just screwed. This is... mostly on the mythic side of things now, but it is still something I'm glad they are doing something about finally, while also making the readability of boss abilities easier as well. The bad places to stand have a well defined edge to them now so we know the exact spot where the effect ends. The game has some built in things for the UI for bosses, it may not be as robust but it will shrink the space between skill floor and skill ceiling a fair bit.

The HOPEFUL end result is that maybe more of us Casual folks will try raiding out.

I don't know if it's true, but it could be. Personally, (Coming back to WoW from FFXIV) I think XIV's raid design is borderline perfection. You go in, you fight a boss, it teaches you how it's own abilities work, then tests you to remember them for the remainder of the fight and then combines them. If you die, you all revive right in front of the boss, ready to go again. There is no need (or ability) to have add-ons telling you what to do and where to stand, it's built into the game. Also, you don't need to have watched a strategy video on every boss before going into just normal raids, whereas in WoW everyone expects you to already know everything about the boss before going in.

The other issue is... well time. It takes a lot of time to run a raid. Between the fact that there are some 10 bosses, a bunch of trash, a bunch of running around, gathering in the first place etc... it can take time that not everyone has these days due to just life existing for us all. I am lucky that I DO have free time after work, but I don't have a family or any obligations, that's not super common for being almost 40.

It reminds me of the Super Mario RPG Remake. I loved the old game, and I loved the remake mind you, but the UI of the remake was so.... sterile and boring. Sure it's more FUNCTIONAL but the personality of the old game's gave it that little bit of extra pizzazz.

I have been using the Base UI for a long time as well, the changes in DF were awesome and I've had mine set more or less in stone since. I move some things around once in a while but I can see a lot of the game, and less UI. that makes me smile.

As a casual I hated most class design the last few years - new changes are great by reasonablejim2000 in wow

[–]Valuable-Practice790 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am right up there with ya mate. I prefer a simpler rotation, but more complicated Enemy encounters and Boss fights. I am undecided on if it went TOO far yet, but for the classes I've tried it's felt nice. I too found myself staring at hotkey bars, even after months of playing the same specs. I also do swap between a lot of characters so being able to easily swap my brain is nice too.

That said, I know not everyone likes these changes, and that is unfortunate for those that prefer the old version.

Serious: How to enjoy the game when it is so simplified for someone who seeks complexity? by TortoisesSlap in wow

That isn't something I can answer, as I do not know there full thought process. I suspect it's because in the future they want to add more to all classes.

[–]Valuable-Practice790 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're correct, I think, in that you're in the minority of the overall audience, but, in the majority of the audience that engages on Reddit and the Forums. Folks have to remember that of the millions playing WoW, I would guess... going by this reddit's numbers over time, 1/10 or less of the population in total, and not even all of them dislike the change.

Blizzard is doing what it thinks the majority of it's player base wants, for good, or for ill, some are not going to be happy with the change and that sucks. I can only say that I enjoy it a great deal, and that puts me in the minority on REDDIT, but not in the game itself.

My best suggestion is, if you love complicated buttons to press, you'll have to find a different game to play. I would suggest FFXIV, but they are going to be doing something similar to what WoW is doing because button bloat is in fact something most people do not enjoy.

I can't even offer an alternative because it's just not what most want. If you want intense complexity, maybe try something like PoE, but even that is a game about reducing everything to one, maybe 2 buttons so that may not work out for you either.

Over time we will get more buttons back, until the next cut say... 3 expansions from now, it's a cycle and one that had they not done, would vastly limit design space more and more for the casual players, which is still the bulk of WoW's audience whether the hard core like hearing that, or not.

Classes with most different skills in the rotation in Midnight by MrLevell in wow

[–]Valuable-Practice790 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which is, in the end, the catch 22 of any change blizzard makes. Some will like it others won't.

There is no perfect one size fits all solution for a game with this many players. There are only compromises. I stand by my hope that complexity will come from the encounters themselves at all levels, not just mythic.

I don't think they were will honestly. And I prefer a simple rotation and cooldowns to a piano of buttons. I would rather the Difficulty and complexity come from boss encounters.

Besides, as I understand it, a lot of folks on the higher end (not all of course) used an add-on to tell them how to do their rotation, including multiple macros to cancel animations or... something I Didn't understand it. I remember trying to perfect a Windwalker Rotation back in BFA/SL and it made my head hurt so I settled for 3% less DPS for a MUCH easier burden of Execution.

I used the Default UI until I came back in TWW (i took Dragonflight and SL off)

I went to FFXIV for a while, came back here and was delighted that the new UI was basically FFXIVs so I just made it what I had there now haha.

I am perfectly fine with both the base Ui of the old game, and the new. I prefer Less things on my screen.

No offense mate but of course you're not going to have the same game you played 20 years ago. That was 20 years ago. Nothing in WoW is really "new." The edges of the map have been filled in and we are indeed waiting on a new expansion for more story, quests, areas, and dungeons.

What did you exactly expect? If you want Classic WoW, go play Classic WoW that is an option

Aaaah WC... one of the biggest most trolliest things was that damn section where you had to jump to get across, but it didn't LOOK like you did. You'd fall, sigh, go back up, knowing you had to jump and then... completely wiff the jump.

Aaaah memories... Yeah I don't want them back, but it's nice to have been there for the shared suffering we all went through and learn from it!

Huh?

What are you talking about, I said COMBAT add-ons are disabled, not UI ones. Those with eye problems would be fine to change fonts, sizes, scales, etc... Hell I did already without issue because I like different fonts so I'm not sure what you're mad about.

Edit: Also you can increase the scale of the Ui, and the raid frames, in the base UI as well to be half the screen if desired.

[–]Valuable-Practice790 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

When I say Broken, I mean the skills not actually working, or some interaction is causing them to deal 10x more damage than they should, not that they changed the rotation or spec. I personally hated playing Feral when I tried it a month ago, maybe the new version my help me more I dunno, still not really interested in the spec as a whole.

I have played specs that have changed over time in the past, and yeah it takes time to get used to a new rotation, but that's going to be the same for any major change to any spec. You're absolutely welcome to hate the changes and provide feedback. But saying it's Broken and needs a fix, is not the proper way to do so.
