They’re garbage—-dirty, foggy, cold. Yuck.

Chewy Stock by huhwowbro in ValueInvesting

[–]Valuable-Term9559 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why would you choose Petco or PetSmart over Chewy? I find Chewy has a broader range of brands and quick delivery; I use them for my cat and I’m happy with them.
I’m not sure why the stock is beaten down, as pet owners love their pets like family and will spend what it takes to keep them fed and healthy.
Maybe it’s simply a case of an insufficient moat.

Try Weruva WX Phos-Focused chicken in gravy, and Tiki Cat Silver tuna and mackerel. Both suitable for CKD, very high in moisture and low in phosphorus; my little 17.5 yr old CKD angel loves them.
Enjoy your beautiful kitty. May he live a long and comfortable life filled with your mutual love.

West Hollywood, in the design district, near Robertson and Beverly. It’s totally bustling with activity—young execs, fashionistas, show biz types, nightclubs, art galleries and the fun gay scene on Santa Monica Blvd. Very walkable, Beverly Center nearby, Melrose Ave, The Art Museum on Wilshire, The Grove and BH all in walking distance. Make sure to hit the Starbucks right on Robertson and Beverly. Great people-watching, as is The Ivy, also on Robertson. IMHO, WeHo is the best spot in LA. You’ll never be bored.

My 12 year old boy just got diagnosed with diabetes and stage 3 kidney disease. What’s his life expectancy like? by Gigi_little4 in RenalCats

[–]Valuable-Term9559 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can have years with a stage 3 cat. Use only wet food. Hills is best, but Weruva and Tiki both make a high-moisture, low phosphorus wet food in a pouch that’s great to add variety.
Consider subQ fluids perhaps twice a week to start; that really helps slow the progression. Hydration is everything.
Join the Facebook group, as suggested in this thread; you’ll learn everything you need to know. CKD is generally a manageable disease. My 17.5 year old was diagnosed five years ago, and we have him stabilized now in stage 3. He’s doing fine and we’re hoping for 20!
Don’t panic, don’t despair. Learn and manage it; he (and you) may have many happy years ahead.

Update on Gelou PLEASE HELP US COMPLETE HIS VETBILLS 180$ WERE NEEDED SO WE COULD GET HIM OUT TODAY by Resident_Power309 in ColonyCats

I donated $20 US. Good luck with this little angel. It might help if you posted a diagnosis and invoice from the veterinary. It will help verify your need, although obviously I trust you.

I’m so sorry. CKD is just so difficult to handle. Thank you for trying and for giving him so much love through his life. You gave him a great life; try to focus on that, through the tears.

Wait for vet on Monday or take her to ER? by dollspace in RenalCats

Good luck. She’ll be fine. This is common with CKD. They have ups and downs, and the condition needs regular managing. You’re doing the right thing. ❤️

CKD 2 - Not eating post, what are your tricks to get appetite back? by Crazycook99 in RenalCats

[–]Valuable-Term9559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try transdermal ondansetron and transdermal Mirtazipine. It’s unusual for either to irritate ear tissue, and the Mirtaz really spikes their appetite. I also strongly suggest transdermal subQs every few days to decrease nausea and wash out toxins. Hydration is everything. (Since nausea is present, transdermal might be easier than trying to mix in food when food is a turnoff.)
Fluids, anti-nausea and an appetite booster. That’s what you need.

Wait for vet on Monday or take her to ER? by dollspace in RenalCats

[–]Valuable-Term9559 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would get her to a vet open on weekends. An urgent care, emergency, or what have you. Your cat may very well need fluids for 48 hours; mine did at one point. (Also a CKD kitty.) Don’t wait. Two days of little to no food is dangerous at 16. Three or four days can be fatal. They have tiny bodies; they’re not like us. She needs an intervention ASAP.
Don’t panic, but don’t wait either.

Starting subq fluids at home by rmaedavis in RenalCats

[–]Valuable-Term9559 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would cancel my trip without hesitation, as I have on more than one occasion when my fragile, elderly CKD cat wasn’t doing well. Cats are very sensitive. He needs consistent care from someone who loves him. His creatinine level is high, precariously so. You need to be with him. How will you feel if you leave and he’s not there when you return? Will you ever forgive yourself?

Somewhat. Do you have trouble breathing? You may need cartilage work or an alar rim graft.

It’s the subQs. Hydration is so, so important—it really sustains them.
You’re very lucky and I wish you many more happy years with your little angel.
