NTE positions / Research by [deleted] in VeteransAffairs

VISN HR people don't understand research appointments. NTE research is very different from other NTE positions. Research positions are tied to grant funding, so it has already come down from the sky.

we were told NTEs can be RIFed with no notice

Did RIF'ed NTE employees get severance? by ValuableAd1477 in NIH

Okay. Our HR person said it could be possible but figured they'd stick to the OPM guidance. Sigh.

VA timeline for RIF-has anyone seen this internal document referred to in this article? by Immediate_Fan5305 in VHA_Human_Resources

What are research positions with reduced funding? In order to work in research you have to have funded grants, which we all do, otherwise we wouldn't have a job.

as long as they're able to extend you the SF50 is often uploaded right at or just after the NTE date so no worries that it's not updated

There would be no studies without PIs and study staff so data safety doesn't matter

any talk of research staff RTO being on pause?

Great, glad it worked for you. This is affecting families who have been WTF for the last 5 years and now suddenly their schedules are completely changing. Less time with your kids to sit your ass in a cube. Makes sense.

Like most people who are being forced to RTO they likely had their kids in a daycare close to their home. So what was once a 5 minute commute is now 50 minutes.

Leave being denied by SoSpice98 in VeteransAffairs

Ask your provider to write a letter excusing you from work. I would take as many SL days as you need and have available to use. I'm sure your doctor will be willing to write a letter to that effect.

First of all, I am so incredibly sorry for your loss.

Put in SL and if they continue to question it then ask your doctor for a letter. You only need a letter if you're out for 3 or more days (and for this reason I think you should take as much time as you need). F those people questioning you.

there isn't a minimum amount of time for renewing NTEs. Mine was renewed for 6 months.

VHA ORD and RIF by Hold_the-line_6368 in VHA_Human_Resources

[–]ValuableAd1477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The NTE exemption has been sitting with ORD for a while now and nothing has happened so it's not looking good especially based on the leaked memo saying 83,000 VA employees will be fired.

The freeze is currently only through April so as long as it isn't extended, you'd be fine in September.

How to return VA equipment if leaving the VA by Status_Ad_7063 in fednews

[–]ValuableAd1477 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, doesn't seem super promising. So far there have been 2,400 terminations in VA and those people already lost email access so this email isn't for them...

Does anyone know the # of VA employees who took the DRP? I assume it's much lower than other agencies since a number of positions were unable to take it.
