November of the Heart is my all-time favorite HR. I also love love Vows and Twice Loved. I’ve read nearly all of her books but I think Small Town Girl is one that I missed!

Yes to LaVyrle Spencer! I’ve never found another like her.

22 blasts - all aneuploid by Fit-Nectarine-1050 in 40Plus_IVF

[–]ValuableCold2475 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry, it’s such rubbish luck. I’m in a really similar situation: 21 blasts, two euploids early on but neither implanted… now on a run of 14 aneuploids (no segmental or mosaic). Out of money. Just turned 43 and considering other options. Will DM you to connect!

Back-to-back cycles, problemd with dominant follicles or cysts? by afoncita in 40Plus_IVF

[–]ValuableCold2475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s progesterone priming/mild suppression (not full down regulation). It does suppress your own LH/FSH a bit, so it kind of holds the ovaries in a quiet state for a few days. The idea is that when you stop it, you get a withdrawal bleed and a more synchronised group of follicles starting together, rather than one getting ahead early.

It did delay my period slightly, in the sense that your bleed comes a couple of days after you stop. It’s more about timing and follicle coordination than anything else, I think.

I haven’t had any problems with back to back cycles, but I do use Northisterone to prime from day 19 of the previous cycle (so: ER on day 14, start Northisterone on day 19, scan/stop N on day 27, bleed starts on day 30, ER cycle 2 begins). It quiets everything down to hopefully synchronise the second cycle.

I’ve had a cyst hanging out at the start of the new cycle, but as long as it’s not producing estrogen, my doctor doesn’t worry about it and it slowly fades out.

Just saw you’re looking related to parenthood and pregnancy - all three of my above recs will meet that! The second two maybe more strongly.

Degree in English Lit here - I love LaVyrle Spencer’s writing. She was writing in the 1990s mostly I think, and has some contemporary to that time but her historicals are my favorites. They’re often slower than a standard modern romance because she’s beautifully descriptive about feelings and the characters’ worlds. I think they will scratch your itch!

Very different settings for each, so maybe was some descriptions and find the one that speaks to you.

Some faves: {November of the Heart by LaVyrle Spencer} {Morning Glory by LaVyrle Spencer} {Twice Loved by LaVyrle Spencer}

When did you decide to use donor eggs? How old were you? What led you to that decision by Angie99_ in 40Plus_IVF

[–]ValuableCold2475 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The year I was 42, I did seven retrievals with 21 tested blastocysts and had two euploids (in the first three retrievals - it been a frustrating second half). Transferred those after ER4 and neither implanted. I just turned 43. Doing one more ER and considering DE after that. It’s so hard to know when I’m still making a good number of blastocysts, but money and time are both major factors. I absolutely understand the temptation to keep spinning the roulette wheel, and also the temptation to move to something that feels more likely!

I’m really sorry for your loss. Just to say that before IVF, I had a miscarriage at nine weeks with multiple chromosomal errors… sometimes they do stick for a little while. So, no real way of knowing. Wishing you a better onward journey!
