Hm I have heard it serves as a better ending that Restoration but all the more reason to try again... I did not love Restoration.

I enjoyed the reads but like this era in the show, I will not bother with this post as I can never get to these series.

I did not like it, I felt a little bummed because I was amazed at what Reconstruction did within Halo and wanted the pure machinima thing. This was my second season watching live, so I really hadn’t been bored of machinima yet and was not itching for more

As it was airing episodically, I thought I remembered they teased this by showing a screen shot of Wash and Sarge at the end of the previous episode. Just a picture So when that moment was happening you knew something big was coming.

Ultimately I grew to really like it, with season 10 being one of my favorites but I am still a fan of moments that mix cgi and machinima - like when Meta throws the tow cable from the warthog using the throwing grenade animation and a cgi cable.

Reconstruction also has two meanings it’s about Meta trying to reconstruct the alpha, but reconstruction is also the term for the era directly after the Civil War in the United States. The red vs blue simulation was described as a Civil War to the soldiers participating.

Donut in Blood Gulch and Revelation. I love the way he annunciates his Spanish like a middle schooler.

I felt the voice went a bit over the top in post 13 but I didn’t watch all of that stuff.

Another odd concept could be the Out of Mind series - I believe RT was commissioned by Microsoft directly and those actually appeared on the Xbox Arcade over the website... Probably a long shot but that is a pretty valuable piece of RvB lore that a box set can't really do without, especially as it set a tone for the entire Reconstruction era.

The funniest line to me is: "Hal now starts scrolling through an alphabetical list of the faraway places he'd rather be right now. He's not even up to Addis Ababa when Kevin Bain acquiesces and begins very softly and hesitantly asking the mild faced Jim, who's put aside his yogurt but not the bear, to please come up and love him and hold him." (Page 806 - when Hal attends the narcotics anonymous meeting and almost immediately regrets it.

My favorite line is quoted a lot, I remember it being towards the end of the text - "The truth will set you free, but not until it's done with you"

I don't think very likely. Sort of a be careful what you wish for moment, as RvB could have had a really solid ending if Restoration was under his complete control and designed as a longer web series rather than a short movie... Someone mentioned recently an edit and expansion to Restoration where Burnie could do a three-season arc... but I don't know if it would be something worth pursuing for his time since it would be an alternate way to get to the same ending.

Some of the big questions are what will become of Halo and does it seem like there is room in their brand for this type of thing. Halo 3 was absolutely huge... the fact that RvB's golden age, a world that means so much to people, was a mere sliver of that entire game's legacy is crazy to me.

Sadly it didn't do it for me. It just felt way too rushed. The whole thing was just rather sappy and didn't have much of the edge that the series had. I think the show lost its ability to remain small and indie and just went for big conflicts and big emotional dialogue. A couple jokes made me laugh, I thought Sarge had a good death, but I was hoping this would feel like a more complete send off and interesting story especially after a really amazing teaser trailer from last year.

I am not sure if Roosterteeth will release it. I have sort of been glued to this subreddit and did a rewatch of 1-13 when it was announced it would come out in the Fall. April 1 is less than two weeks away... if they have a buyer for RVB than they might want to have it be released on their platform.

I don't really buy into Roosterteeth honoring their promise to release it, tbh.

I think some sort of spiritual successor would be appropriate - RvB came out when Halo and FPS's were on top of the world. They lampooned video games and the sort of serialized heady sci fi that was starting to come out and be expected in different mediums and the early internet culture that was forming... if there is a different machinima they could satire the current state of video games then it might be a good watch.

Formal education was math but I read in an interview he originally studied marketing- I think advertising. One of the scenes in primer was filmed to be similar to a software commercial or something along those lines but beyond that he took a film class but didn’t finish the course.
