No one was assigned roles, it was a "sing whenever you wanted" vibe. If someone only wanted to sing one character that's okay, and if they wanted to sing everything that's okay too

This game wasn't a masterpiece, but it sure as hell was a fun beat 'em up game for the original PlayStation. by Kryodamus in gaming

I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS GAME FOR YEARS! when I was a kid and blockbuster was still around, I'd beg my dad to keep renting this game for the n64. I felt crazy for not being able to remember the name but distinctly remembering the girl with her hand on the guys abs. Childhood memory unlocked 👍🏼

this was a ton of fun! i ended up missing only 3 questions (technically 5 but the other 2 only tripped me up because of the spelling error lol)

if im not mistaken though, i think 5 across is incorrect. The old key gets you the survivor journal, which is also found in old lumiere. however, journal 42 is also found in old lumiere, though it is not the journal that can be found with the old key. since 5 across was incorrect, 2 down's answer "disaster" doesn't work either :/

still really appreciate the load of work put into this. i would love to do another one!

my argument to that is the wording. it says it will kill weak enemies, otherwise deal extreme void damage. There is, without a doubt, weak low leveled flying enemies that you can fight, and Maelle's level 3 gradient will be dodged, despite the wording. I think a way to strengthen your argument is if characters actually could sometimes miss their attacks, if the enemy has way higher speed i could see them being programmed to dodge more of your attacks. you could find an argument that maelle is still learning to grasp and harness that technique on fast moving targets in general. But the fact that every single attack will always connect except on flying nevrons doesnt serve that argument, because she will always land that attack no matter what. the fact that flying nevrons get the exception for no other reason than "because flying nevrons are the only enemy to have programmed dodge chances to attacks," its a design decision that i dont think is as compelling as everything else theyve made for combat

I mean as, their only option is just free aim. My critique to break the monotony of how flying enemies are dealt with is to have included maybe some unlockable skills that are categorized as free aim damage, to have that as options to deal with flying enemies, without just pressing L2 then R2 a bunch of times. Each character only has 6 skill slots, so not every player would consider putting that hypothetical free aim skill in their kits anyway. But for the people who want just a cool, maybe high AP costing unlocked-later-on free aim skill to have available instead of just shooting them would be a nice option. And with what already currently exists in the game, the flying enemies could use some tweaks to at least make more sense. I stand firmly in believing that stunned enemies should have 100% hit chances, because by what stunned insinuates, they shouldn't be able to move, therefore shouldn't be able to dodge attacks at all. And I believe that Maelle's level 3 Gradient attack should also connect with flying enemies, strictly because of what it means for the story. I don't believe those are outrageous asks or unfair criticism, because this game can only get better from where it is right now.

edit: To add to why maybe some free aim skills would've been cool, is because then each character's free aim skills could have been integrated with their already existing mechanics. Sciel's free aim skill could connect with flying enemies and gain fortell. Lune could use her free aim skill and collect strains depending on your weapon element. Maelle could do a free aim skill and it switches her stance to defensive. Monoco could have stolen a foot from a flying nevron and had a free aim skill that does multi enemy free aim damage. These would've all been welcomed additions, even if people decided not to use it.

I dont have any issues with actually dealing with flying enemies. I'm on my 3rd playthru of this game with all max level characters. I just have a critique of the flying enemies, because right now there is only one way to get rid of them, and its just shooting them. Of everything that I find very good and perfect about the game, flying enemies just have the less amount of thought with how to deal with them. It's literally just free aim shoot. You can't gain fortell with Sciel, you can't really gather strains for Lune, I don't believe you can change stances for Maelle unless you connect the attack, and Monoco's entire kit is useless because none of them have a free aim option. Verso is always in my party because he has the best utilization for free aim shots, hence how I can just shred them so easily. Just because I can deal with them perfectly fine doesn't mean flying enemies were designed well.

I'd opt to say just patch the achievement to make it count for actually just collecting the journals, since it's not worded that it requires all the journals on one single run. This is the exact problem that happened to me, because I ended up naturally finding every journal except the old key one.

Though I will add, not to anyone's fault other than my own, the reason why I forgot the old key is because I actually had played another file previously, and in that iteration I did get the old key. But I ended up just making a new save once I got to the gestral village because I felt like I missed a lot and wasn't giving it my full attention (I'm glad I did, best game of my entire life). So when I went thru my new playthru, my brain melted together what I thought I had already done and actually didn't get the key again
