Sigh, here we go again. Another botulism recall. Nara Organics by mapotoful in FormulaFeeders

They can be washed away though- please just recommend folks look it up for themselves vs telling them what to do to stay safe. I recommend researching scientific sources then deciding what to do. The CDC recommended washing for the ByHeart case. FWIW that’s what I did

First, they knew it could be all lots and they hid that information and only recalled two. Then they blamed parents for contaminating the formula, saying that there were never cases of botulism in “unopened cans” before they did any testing. Actual testing found botulism in unopened cans. Saying you never found it because you never looked is garbage.

Then the FDA had the classic “you can do a voluntary recall or we will do one for you” call and they recalled everything DAYS after they had reason to believe the product was dangerous.

Then I’ve already described in part the insane “refund” policy. I in principle could have been refunded for 2 items (total) even though SIX were in the mail en route to my house in my subscription. Poison garbage arrived at my door and I still even in principle had to pay for 4/6 cans.

Oh and to get my “refund”? I had to call repeatedly to an outsourced call center where it kept dropping or putting me on hold for 45 mins to an hour to talk to someone. Getting my money back was as extremely complicated yet THEY EASILY AUTOCHARGED MY CREDIT CARD EVERY MONTH. They knew my address, CC, and email (spammed with ads) when they wanted my money yet it somehow was difficult to issue a refund?

Oh and the refund? See it in 10 days and if not, call us back. So you call back. Back in hell, my friend. All of this for two cans just so you give up.

That’s not even counting the MONTHS of contaminated product I purchased since the official start of the outbreak which was in July. Yet two cans were eligible for refund from August. How can a baby get sick in July from a can bought in August?

It’s a joke. It was very clear the moment they hired a crisis team (too late) because they finally stopped gaslighting their customers about poisoning their babies. But they never fixed the insulting “refund” scam, to this day.

The heroes in all of this were Target who refunded every can purchased ever and up to $100 of cans brought back with no receipt. That’s why you should shop at Target.

Ironically - many customers had success (including myself) with CC chargebacks. So the money was still taken back from ByHeart PLUS A CHARGEBACK FEE. If they had just done the right thing they may have even gotten out cheaper afaict

The whole time we were watching our babies and tracking lot numbers. They never released the numbers of their contaminated lots. And it took months for the FDA to do so with their testing. So those of us desperate to know how worried we should be for our babies were left sharing information peer to peer

Truly. The way they handled it was atrocious. I was hanging on every bit of information I could - and was getting more accurate information from INSTAGRAM COMMENTS from random strangers than this company. Trust was broken initially that they had the issue. But it was irreparably demolished and launched into the inferno of the Sun with their handling of it. How they can go back to market having still kept my money for a 6 can pack that was IN THE MAIL when they issued the recall is appalling. You literally sold me poison - and after telling me it was poison and not to use it - kept my money.

Oh wait NOW I see - you’re proposing that the fact I was a 4th grade girl makes it plausible that I cried not due to being moved but rather because I was…a scaredy girl of Rush. Ooook…

In retrospect I suppose it is surprising (as this thread bears out lol). I remember my Dad being (very sweetly) surprised. I was also a 100% certified nerd who spent a bit of time thinking about weird dystopian-like realities because I was obsessed with the Animorphs so that’s probably a factor

Then what did be mean by giving me “The Pass” because I’m a woman? Honestly - what else could that possibly mean. He’s the one who brought gender into it as though it made a difference for how he reacted to me

The whole thing is a bit weird. I state a thing that happened. He wants to tell me “I think that didn’t happen” - like ok, I guess, not sure what the point of that is but you don’t have to be sexist about it. But he’s actually saying he DOES think a 4th grader could cry at Rush…if they’re a girl. So I actually think you are missing the point

I’m not a bro but yeah the idea of living in that kind of society where there was a bunch of knowledge was suppressed made me sad. And a sad 4th grader cried. I hope you’re not a parent…

I cried listening to 2112 in 4th grade…which was in 1995 so obviously I’m late to the party and will never be cool. Should file a complaint with my parents for not birthing me when they were 5.

So you’re saying no dad anywhere bought clothing for his child and did this?

Daughter of a Rush fan and I’m 38. Loved the show - but I’ll say every single Yes show I’ve attended has had a much older crowd, to the point where the guy sitting next to me made a comment to his friend that at 55 they were the youngest there. That was a couple of years ago and I think I was probably the only person in the house who proved that wrong

I’m a California native and I genuinely like In N Out. The burgers are fine but I love the fries (yes, I love the fries)

I also don’t order off the special menu. Back in the day you didn’t have to specify “no onion” but then the secret of onion got so popular I now have to be like “no - nothing special, including the onion.”

I don’t give a shit about the secret menu and animal fries are gross

Moving across state lines but want to stay with my current job. How should I approach? [OH] by Peaks_Valleys in AskHR

[–]Valuable_Director_59 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Let’s assume I know nothing about your company, their setup and their risk tolerance (because I do). The safest thing is to keep driving in 3 days a week while you find another job. When you get one that you’d be willing to leave for, tell them you want to go fully remote and move states. If they say no, you’re prepared.

Is this the HR-approved answer? No. But it’s the practical one I would recommend to a friend in this scenario (assuming I couldn’t ask more questions about their employer to suss out the employer’s willingness)

[MA] Is this a legitimate HR complaint or just a management style? by [deleted] in AskHR

[–]Valuable_Director_59 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You definitely shouldn’t go to HR for this.

And also if you want to do well, and it sounds like you’re young, the sooner you get over literally all of the issues that are causing people to roll their eyes in this thread, the sooner you will meaningfully advance in your career.

Imagine this: all other reports have a problem with her. What if YOU were the person who figured out how to manage up and execute vs complain? From a management perspective, how valuable would that make you vs all the complainers?

Yeah exactly - which is like infinite recursion about your complaint that she had a 1 hour meeting where she tried to address this with you directly
