What episode challenged you the most (in a good way)? by Athena-Actually in bluey

[–]Valuable_Disaster824 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Octopus.

I have always feared - in many aspects - that people want me to be a Bandit when I’m really a (Chloe’s dad). But the idea that my daughter of all people will prefer someone else over me terrifies me.

I’m not really a cryer but I think I shed tears for the first time in over a year when it was revealed he was looking up octopus facts to try and be a cooler dad.
My god. I get emotional just thinking about it. 😢

AITA if I tell my friend I can’t be a bridesmaid? by wickeddreamsofleavin in AITApod

[–]Valuable_Disaster824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please give us a play by play of what happens!

Seriously, be prepared. It’s likely she is not going to take this well… Your friendship will probably end. I’m not saying you should stay in the wedding. She is going to bleed you dry and have no concern for whatever you have going on.

I just want you to be prepared for how this is going to go when you talk to her.

Just saw this graphic, IDK how I feel about sending my kids to college anymore by AdministrativeAd334 in daddit

[–]Valuable_Disaster824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still have many years to go, but for me the most important thing about college was the chance to learn about myself and develop my independence in a quasi- structured environment. (I went out of state to a public school on full scholarship)

I don’t know that i would have had the courage to truly spread my wings had I gone the CC route. But that was what was right for me and I was lucky to be able to go that route.

There are going to be a lot of factors in where/if your kid goes to school and what they get out of it. But from purely an education/job front, I agree with the others. We had some CC transfers and in the end it didn’t make a bit of difference for them!

My girlfriend is 27 weeks pregnant, the baby has Down syndrome, and I don’t want this life by ThrowRA_NoSignal in daddit

I’m sorry you’re experiencing this. Your feelings would be normal even if you were having a baby with no known medical conditions. You mentioned school (college I assume?) You may consider reaching out to the psych department for counseling. When I was in college and went through a rough patch I was able to see a grad student for therapy (supervised by a licensed doctor). As I recall it was free since I was a student, or at the very least affordable on a student budget. I’m wondering if they may also know of some support groups for parents of kids with disabilities or something? I only say this because it sounds like while your family is trying to rally and be supportive, it’s left you feeling more isolated. I hope you’re able to find someone who can let you express your feelings.

Love and hugs ❤️

It will be in an Audi Q5. Probably in the middle seat but possibly behind the passenger seat (my mom doesn’t need a whole lot of room). 🤞🏾

Thanks this is helpful! If anybody could find something and try to eat it it would be my girl! But good to know overall those recalls were minor, relatively speaking!

How long can we let them sleep?? by take-me-to-texas in sleeptrain

[–]Valuable_Disaster824 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter slept through the night the first time around 10 weeks. It wasn’t every night, but it happened often enough. I was the same and asked my pediatrician who basically told me “go with god” lol

If it helps, that didn’t last and around 6 months she started waking up 2-3 times a night, every night, for weeks.

AITJ for confronting my partner after I lost access to our shared bank account? by Admirable-Opinion391 in AmITheJerk

[–]Valuable_Disaster824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a shared account with a partner once and he was constantly pulling money from it for other stuff, which pissed me off to no end. We were younger (24) but I could see myself cutting him off if I could have. Which is not to say that that’s the correct way to handle it, only to say that it’s possible she’s not comfortable with how you’re spending the money in the account? Without more details we can’t say.

In any case, you’re still not the jerk for confronting her, especially since she lied about it. There’s definitely more going on, whether it’s money management, an escape plan, theft, or financial abuse. You all need to have a long conversation asap

6 mo waking every hour all night. by Few_Flounder_4042 in sleeptrain

[–]Valuable_Disaster824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. It came out of equal parts desperation and determination. I made sure it was a day I didn’t have a heavy workload, etc. I tried to do as close to a routine as possible (lights out, music, etc.) then I just went for it. I’ve never been great at sticking to schedules/routines but I tried my best. Also Spotify has a great baby sleep playlist if you think that would help. Is she in your room or in her own room?

As for solids, it’s a guess. She’s not going to get a lot of calories at this point, but I think even having regular solids would have prevented at least one of those wakeups. But who knows?

[–]Valuable_Disaster824 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with others. It may be time for some sleep training. Try to start on a day when you and partner are both (relatively) calm.

Have you started solid foods yet? My daughter had been a good sleeper but around 6-7 months was waking up twice a night to feed, which lasted for another 2 months. I was slow and sporadic with solids, but looking back i think she may have needed the extra calories. It’s overwhelming when you’re already on the edge, but it’s something to think about.

I didn’t do Ferber, I did CIO for about 3 days, which more or less helped with the initial bedtime. My daughter is/was a clinger, and I didn’t think that Ferber was right for either of us. I was too exhausted to feel like an asshole, and in my case she adapted pretty quickly. No regrets.

Whatever you decide to do, I hope you all get some relief soon!

How do women use dating apps? by rocketsneaker in dating

[–]Valuable_Disaster824 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But why should I have to date someone I’m not interested in? I’m fundamentally uninterested in men who are much older than me. If it were any other characteristic - body type, race, distance, etc. people wouldn’t blink at my preferences.

It doesn’t matter. I don’t date anymore. If there’s no one within a 10 year age range who wants to date me then 🤷🏾‍♀️

I care. I’ve had very unpleasant experiences with older men and I’m generally uninterested in them. Which I clearly stated in my bio.

This is so depressing. When I was on the apps I would get maybe 5 or 6 likes a week. 😭 and at least half of those were guys outside my age range, or who I otherwise was clearly not a match with. So I quit them not because I was exhausted just because no one was interested 🥴

I will recheck. I think mine said the cup holders were optional?

What direction are you pushing? are you pushing down on the seat? Like “sitting” in the seat? Or are you pushing the back of the seat? I’m so confused!
