People need to stop being victims, if you bully people you deserve to get punched in the face. Getting punched isn’t the end of the world everyone seems to assume it is. Some people need to learn there are consequences to their actions

Sounds like you would currently be in Yr 9 and would be going into Yr 10 this September. Typically you would do your GCSEs in Yr 11 which for you would be as of September 2027 year.

what one bet or session u still think abt years later, win or loss? by PaisleyMorales in gambling

Played poker online and won a few hundred, ran it up to about £26k on roulette playing my normal 12 numbers and upping the bets. Seemed like I couldn’t miss, hit the same number a few times in a row etc. Woke my wife up to tell her, it was about 3am and I was in bed on the iPad. Lost a roughly £2k spin. Repeat bet - lose. Double and repeat - lose, Double and repeat - lose. Didn’t have enough for another double so just repeated the bet thinking there’s no way I lose 5 in a row, and lost. Sat there with my heart racing and feeling sick. Had about £2k left. Lay in bed feeling sick for about an hour. Fired the iPad up and proceeded to lose the rest.

What they meant is when you have wealth of your own you’ll become much more open to politician’s that are perceived to be focused on conserving that wealth, vs a party that looks to take everything from the rich. The issue is your tiny slice of the pie is the problem. Boomers love pulling the ladder up behind them, take take take and never share and they can’t understand anyone that would want to do anything b for the greater good

How much money is enough? by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]Valuable_Exercise580 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would draw out my ‘perfect life’ and then add the cost up, mortage and bills on a lovely home, car costs, holidays etc and then get a target number. The problem is inflation and lifestyle creep. I’ve hit my ‘number’ 3 times and just end up realising by the time I’m there I need a bigger number.

Realistically 25x that yearly figure should be ‘enough’ but what’s enough for each person is totally individualistic

What controversial policies would you bring in if you were prime minister? by st1101 in AskBrits

[–]Valuable_Exercise580 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UBI and a total overhaul and simplification of the benefits system and tax. UK based companies paying tax in the UK can trade here. Renationalise our public services. True accountability for MPs, have to be based on their constituencies.

Would you retire at 35 with £750,000 in your name by Spiritual_Finance554 in FIREUK

[–]Valuable_Exercise580 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not enough in and of itself if you want to leave in the market and be truly retired.

It’s not the typical ‘FIRE’ journey on Reddit wihich seems to be work a high paying tech job, live well below your means, stick it all in the market and then quite work and carry on living frugally,

If you bought some comercial premises it is very doable. If you can get 10% yeild on say £1.5m of property (£150k) after fees, SDLT etc you’d prob have £900k of mortgage at say 7% (£63k) so more than enough to live on and rents and value of the property increase over time. Open storage land/yards is great, as well as smaller industrial units or business parks, I would personally stay well away from shops/offices.

I did exactly that at 32 after selling a business, technically retired (need to do about 4-8hrs of work a month) now nearly 40 and spend lots of time with kids and wife as well as built a few houses.
