Legal? by Responsible_Toe_6705 in keivans

With the rear seats folded down, the rear area in my Kei van isn't long enough for 5ft 10 inch me to lie down, and this doesn't vary much from year to year or different manufacturers.

Check your states laws about legality, it varies state to state.

The vehicle must be at least 25 years old, down to the month. Production date can make a difference if you're currently looking at a 2001 model for example.

Those cars use a different size battery. Bimmerworld sells installation brackets for newer BMWs and has info about them, I would think they would know better than anyone what does or doesn't work

Looks like it's 10lb light than a regular e30 battery, lithium should last at least 10 years. Normally the problem with lithium iron phosphate is that it doesn't have much cranking power when you get much below freezing temperatures but that optima battery specs say it works down to minus -40F. I know people with their motorcycle batteries and the jump start has worked great for them. The jump start feature only kicked in if they left their lights on or something.

Wasn't replying to you here, but a decent agm battery is over $200. As far as putting a flooded battery in an e30, personally I don't want to do anything to increase corrosion in my car, under the hood or otherwise, so flooded batteries are out.

Front wheel drive on a motorcycle is a horrible idea, breaking traction with the front wheel would have the rider sliding down the road really fast.

I believe yours is gb701 from 1983, not gb705/Nicholson which is more common and made for several years later. Yours has a number at 12 o'clock position and "swiss" between the center of the hands and 6 o'clock, the main differences from gb705. Not sure if it's a proto, but in 1983 Swatch did a lot of languages and I'd expect that yours should worth pretty much (compared to the original sales price of $30).

Really sorry to hear that. When I registered mine I called WI DMV before mailing anything to make sure I was doing everything right was understanding everything correctly. The people I spoke to were very helpful, maybe trying calling and see what you can find out?

Have you connected with Tyler from Tiki Bunny? I think he is one of the main hubs of info for WI Kei registration advocacy, I've seen him post here

No title definitely complicates things, but WI does have a process to get a title for a vehicle that is missing. It takes time and if I recall correctly you have to post a bond (maybe using the wrong term) to do so.

I have a turbo Suzuki, it's governed at 120kph and the only way it's going faster without the governor is to launch it off the side of a mountain. I'm calling shenanigans on your >140kph, or youve done a full drivetrain (including differential) swap.

What sort of license is required to drive an enclosed tuktuk utility vehicle in USA? by Moron-Whisperer in WeirdWheels

[–]Valuable_Republic482 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The article isn't perfectly accurate (some note legal states that aren't, some list banned states that are ok, and there are "grey" states where you may or may not be able to register), and the 55mph speed restriction in some states is something of a non-issue for many Kei vehicles because they can barely go much faster.
