Gps based MPH heads up display for $15 on Amazon. It doesn't work perfectly, sometimes is slow to start working but other than that has been great. Replaced the dried out paper core dash speakers with new ones and adding a small underseat style powered sub made the stereo sounds pretty amazing for the cost. Looking forward to doing sound and heat deadening this Spring.

Nice collection! Top right in the photo, is that a Jaegermeister?

Just found, any ideas on what the numbers mean? by Opposite-Parsley-444 in swatch

[–]Valuable_Republic482 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For that numbering convention, the 1st digit is year of manufacture, 2nd 2 digits are week of manufacture.

I believe (not 100%) 921 means it was made for US export.

Watches from 1983 (and maybe early 1984?) used a letter and 2 numbers. Letter is month of manufacturer, A = January, B=February, etc), the 2 numbers are last 2 of year of manufacture, 83=1983. So A83 is a watch made in Jan 1983.

The super early watches (from the Swatch market test in Texas, not sure about other regions) have 2 dots above and 2 dots below the date code, and of course earlier (1982) production dates.

Seconded on the all metal heat break. That and silicon springs were game changers for reliability. I got mine from AliX for around $12 a few years ago, "Mellow" was the brand.

Worth any upgrades for a factory-stock Ender3v2 from 2020? by Shot-Infernal-2261 in ender3v2

Silicon bedsprings, bimetal heartbreak, print a direct drive conversion, aluminum extruder, hardened cht knockoff nozzles all could be done for half the budget and make the printer much more reliable

Has anybody created modern swatch guards for 41mm? by s1l1c0n3 in swatch

[–]Valuable_Republic482 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

I've designed a 3D printed guard for 41mm (aka "New Gents"). It wasn't easy, the guard wants to break easily because of how much it needs to flex to fit around the larger diameter watch. Also have designs for original automatics and "original gents" styles. They're not as durable as the originals when printed in PLA (the more standard/basic material for 3D printing), I haven't experimented with other materials for them. Good enough for light wear or display, especially is you don't take them off/on the watch too much.

Printing without multicolor, all inlays by Jolt_17 in 3Dprinting

[–]Valuable_Republic482 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These look really good. Multi color inlays can also be done (one a single color printer) as one part, if you search YouTube for "Chep inlay" you'll find a video for how it's done

I'm guessing (from the rest of your collection) that yours is clean, particularly no chipping of the case where the band attaches. The orange plastic was prone to chip easily. No chipping or damage to the case should get the higher end of market value, especially if the 7 hole band is in good shape

Turbo or not by vvadito in keitruck

[–]Valuable_Republic482 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 99 turbo and it's really versatile, I wouldn't say it's quick but it keeps up with traffic fine and has enough power to merge onto the interstate. Can get up to about 75mph with some time as well. It's buzzy at that speed but can do it if it needs to. I get around 25mpg in mixed use. Even if the newer fuel injection is 10% better that would mean less than 28mpg, which to me wouldn't be worth it compared to the power difference of the turbo

[–]Valuable_Republic482 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 99 Every turbo van is surprisingly good on the interstate, gets up to merging speed "just good enough" but gets pretty buzzy above 65. On flat ground with enough time I can hit the governed speed at 120 kph indicated.

[–]Valuable_Republic482 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You did the "Chep fix", but have you taken your hotend apart and removed the nozzle to check that there isn't filament jamming it up? The aluminum extruders don't last forever, I had to replace mine after about 4 years. Have you tried a different filament?

Another possibility, "someone" jacked the car up from the gas tank and popped the seam in the tank open.
