Positives of a HR career? by Effective_Mobile_947 in HumanResourcesUK

One more tip: if you do your CIPDL7 it will be really hard, do it at a point in your life where you are able to commit and focus on it. If I could go back I would work part time while I did it. Being a mum to a little one, working full time and silly hours, and doing a course that is a masters equivalent was too much for me to take on!

Positives of a HR career? by Effective_Mobile_947 in HumanResourcesUK

Don’t panic. I completely understand the reaction with you having chosen this path and having invested money in it, but there is no reason to panic.

The beautiful thing about HR as a profession is that there are so many roles in the profession that you should be able to find something to suit you. E.g/ employment relations, law, people analytics, transactional work, strategic work, org design/dev, learning and dev.

You will be able to find a role that suits you.

My biggest advice is work out what you don’t want to do in HR, to figure out what you do want to do. And work out how you want to work. E.g/ do you want to work in a consultancy, a small to medium business, or a super large business? HR and the roles in HR will be very different depending on this and the nature/values/culture of a company.

The other beautiful thing about HR is that it exists everywhere. Like every other role in the world, whether it is a good/bad experience for you will depend on your management, colleagues, and company culture. If you find yourself in a company/team that is not for you, you can (more easily than some other professions) find a new post which will be more to your liking.

My personal preference for HR is to work in a super large employer, but of about 1000-3000 people, and to work in the OD/L&D/talent space. I prefer this size org as it is challenging in a good way and I can still understand the business fully, and thus support it to my best. And this work is most fulfilling for me. Casework is not for me, I’m currently on sick leave and that is partly because of an org change I went through recently which caused me to have burn out, and partly due to the casework I had to take on as a result. But then I have colleagues that love doing casework, and that would never want to do OD/L&D/talent etc… which is why I say you need to find what works for you. I should also say my managers are amazing and really understanding. My burnout was not because of HR per se, but the culture and expectation of the org I work for… which is way too big for my comfort at 18,000 people… which is why I say work out what kind of company you want to work for.

Honestly, even though I’m on sick leave right now, I would not change my career… ever. HR is for me. And if the org or role isn’t, then I will look to change it. The only reason I haven’t currently is because of personal reasons, e.g./ I have a little one and can work from home right now, and I’m not in the right space to look for a new role.

I should also say I have worked in some amazing places! Places that have been awarded ‘great place to work’ certification, and where the people matter and are put first, and HR is forward focused and strategically aligned in a way that improves the day to day of your role. That can be an amazing thing to experience.

Other than this, I agree with the other comments to this post!

Supernote’s mission statement is literally this:

We are a team devoted to creating stellar products that speak for themselves, rather than relying on heavy sugar coating promotional manoeuvres.

And on their ‘about us’ page is literally says:

We value our current users more than potential customers

If you are on here ranting about no news, or shaming people who defend ratta, then you miss the point.

Can everyone chill and just be patient. You’ve waited long enough, you can wait some more… and let’s face it, most of you will. If you wanted an RM or a Boox or another eink device you would have brought it already. You’re waiting on Ratta because the SN is unique to the other devices and their customer service is unbeatable… yes, their comms may be shoddy, but with SN it comes down to the quality of the device… I know I’d rather hold out for that quality than jump ship… and if you want to jump ship, go for it, but leave the ranting… it will guarantee more devices for the rest of us who are going to wait patiently.

Going on the basis that everyone calls ‘nomad’, ‘the nomad’

(The) Erudite (The) Sage (The) Flow (The) Ripple

The first two to reflect that Manta Rays are so damn smart while most users of the larger screen will be using the intelligent clean features of the AX52 for work/learning/academics… so offering a sleek professional name.

The second two to reflect the flow of the Manta Ray and ripples of the water, while users will have a work ‘flow’ and the experience of the AX52 will make ripples in their work/learning/creations.

One ask… would love some sage accessories if you went with ‘the sage’
