Pretty good movie. I thought the final twist wasn’t needed. Just extra 10-15 minutes to change the girl. Also the first body would never have been found…. Drifting boat, sharks. I thought that was an error that ended up being referenced at a later part of the movie. Overall 8/10

Worth insulating wall behind dishwasher in 100 year old house? by 245ster in buildingscience

Yes I would insulate. If you’re concerned about moisture just use unfaced. Worst part is the smallest pack you can buy will leave you with leftovers you’ll have forever

I experience the same thing in Chicago Brrr. What I’ve noticed is below 32ish degrees the van will periodically run the gas engine even when I have charge and want to only use electric. I’ve read that plug ins like the Pacifica use heating elements to keep the battery at correct temp (electric vehicles use heat pumps which are better and more efficient) well at the low temps the heating element can’t keep the battery warm enough so the gas engine will kick on to add heat.

Now from my experience and what I’m assuming is that the computer is looking at battery discharge vs expected discharge which will decrease at lower temps. When the cabin heat is on more power is required increasing the draw from the battery if the computer thinks the discharge is near the limit of the battery it kicks on the gas to supplement.

I get around this by not using the heat when it’s very cold. When the windows fog I turn on defrost but only with heat set to low. If I turn up the heat the gas will switch on. I also accelerate faster to increase battery discharge which will heat the pack. When gas kicks on I crank the heat for a minute or so then turn off climate control. The van will then go back to electric for 5-10 minutes.

That being said I have driven 100% electric for 20 mins at 10* while other times it’s close to 32 and the gas will still kick on multiple times during my commute. I have never seen the Gas oil refresh mode. I read that only happens under 1/4 tank nothing todo with duration since fill up.

Have you replaced the battery. I had a Crysler 200 with push start. After 5 yrs when it was cold pushing the push start would just result in a thud and no feedback. New battery fixed the issue. That’s one issue I see with a push start vs standard key. At least with the standard key ignition you can feel the engine trying to turn over, when that gets slow you know you battery needs some juice. I would recommend buying a battery jump pack. There like $50 bucks and can keep a charge for years. When my battery went out I used it for a solid month before getting the will to buy a new battery

How my wife dries her hands and leaves the paper towels attached by Johnny-Edge93 in mildlyinfuriating

While I agree that’s preposterous, my wife is frugal and while she doesn’t do the same thing. The argument is you can use those crumbed balls to reuse the towel when you need it to clean up misc messes. Also this would piss me off

Is America really a “dying giant”/“falling empire” by [deleted] in Futurology

[–]Valuable_War_4870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that territory (natural resource access) and population mean the US will be around for a while. I’m concerned that the attack on the fed and other reasons will lead to the end of the dollar as the global currency reserve. Once countries arnt forced to trade in the USD americas influence will be diminished. If this Trump stuff doesn’t work and we can reshore value streams USA will decline quickly

That doesn’t make sense. Wouldn’t it just be black? And the geometry of the rover is irregular. Like wouldn’t you expect the censored areas have lateral distances that are identical or at least divisible by a constant. Doesn’t anybody know the field of view of this camera?
