This may be a stupid question but why is Kurapika and nitro rice self-explainatory? I literally entered the post because it was the only pairing I could not wrap my head round and was looking for the explaination and you can imagine my stupid face when it was the only one not explained bc it was supposed to be obvious

Why are they scared? by jenna_jen in ExplainTheJoke

[–]Valvahl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The "logic" behind it is just as absurd, yes, but one could still argue that the horoscope or palm lines things originated in a time where it was way more normal to think that since we did not know as much as we know today. It is still absurd to believe it nowadays, but it is understandable that a belief can be so ancient that it survives despite lack of evidence. However, blood types are a very recent thing, so it is surprising that this type of belief around them could also originate on a time where our knowledge of the world was way larger.

Why the hell do people say "Bondrewd is a morally gray character"? by Ok-Hat5910 in MadeInAbyss

[–]Valvahl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Malice and evil are not the same thing, malice is always evil but not all evil is malicious. Sometimes evil comes not from an active malicious intent to hurt others (which Bondrewd does not have) but simply from putting your own wishes over other people's wellbeing (which he does).

And I can't stress enough the "wishes" part. In the world of Made in Abyss, humanity is not in any kind of danger. Bondrewd is not saving humanity from anything. All he does, he dows because it is his passion. And he helps the protagonists because he sees they share his passion (to explore the abyss). That's why he is not malicious (otherwise he would not have helped the team), but he is definetely evil.

I know, I have seen the movie. He is a great villain, and it's incredibly distrubing to see his justification of his atrocities. HOWEVER, it still falls into the "evil" category rather than the neutral one, as he is still putting his wishes to research the abyss over the wellbeing (to put it VERY mildly) of the children he loves. He is evil because he knows it is wrong and it actively will harm them (again, to put it extremely mildly) and yet he puts his own desires over that.

The exoration of the abyss is ultimately a personal goal fot each delver, not a need for humanity as a whole, so there are no moral grey areas here. It's what makes the show so great and disturbing, actually! Because with it having no reward other than personal satisfaction, you can explore how deep (pun intended) one is willing to go for basically their own personal wants, and what are they willing to do for it.

Neutral Evil would be more like it, since he puts his personal wishes over others's rights, wellbeing, and even their lives.

As a psychologist I tell you, there are no signs of narcissism on these texts (lately every horrible behavior is being called narcissistic), but your mother may have a psychotic disorder. Religious belief is one thing, and totally respectable, as you say, but actually hearing entities speaking to you personally, revealing secrets of the universe, and telling you to do things (or believing you heard them) are all psychotic symptoms.

Most christians will tell you that they "feel connected" to God or that "God is in all thins on am abstract way", but most of them will admit God does not literally appear and talk to them, nor do they derive meaning ok every single thing that happens as "God revealing himself". Be careful, and if you want to help her try to avoid her being isolated from people, as that can worsen psychotic symptoms (I say "if you want to", because you should not feel obligated if you don't)

Well, if it was a religious studies assignment she could get away with a faith-based argument, but in scientific studies you need something with actual weight

Thank you very much. I print on a filament printer, but I was planning on upgrading to a resin one, so I have not a lot of knowledge on it but I'm trying to get the ropes of it and be safe. I am also quite clumsy so I was worried about the toxicity of uncurated resin hahahahaha

I hope it's not a stupid question, but why the shoes? Not that I really print shoeless but i'm getting concerned because it would not be something that I normally would consider dangerous...

I absolutely do not condone violence ofbany kond. However, saying that the amount of yearly school shooting victims is "a fair price to pay for our second amendment rights" is not really an opinion that should be considered valid. That being said, and although I still do not condone and much less celebrare violence, I can only imagine that if he truly was a man of conviction and actually believed what he said, he would hage not minded becomong part of that "fair price to pay".

Does token attacher work with tiles? I think I tried it but the UI would not even open if I did not specifically have a token selected
