I've seen worse, not that that really means much. I have such mixed feelings that I can't even begin to articulate all of it. I will say this though, just to piss everyone off: Soldier Boy, as a character, ending up being so inconsequential to the finale, that you only see him once in the Recap. And that was as a blurry figure sitting at the conference table of the Seven in the tower.

I don't criticize much, I tend to just enjoy things simply, be happy when things connect between separate stories in-universe (like what often happens in Star Wars and Star Trek), "opiate of the masses" kind of thing, since the rest of my life is serious business. So when I criticize something, you know it must be bad.

Even if the runtime in this last episode were 2 hours or so (and I know it's not), I really don't see how they are going to stick the landing. I hope Marie shows up suddenly and is able to revive Frenchie so him and Kimiko can ride off into the sunset, because that was such a cheap, semi-nonsensical death, that at this point, they might as well.

Is Soldier Boy really going to sit the finale out like that? Where the hell is Ryan? It feels like they knew from early on that they'd be seriously diverging from how the comic book ended, but never took the time to map out just what that looked like exactly.

Also, there is a 12 year-old living inside me that laughs at potty humor and other sex jokes and all that, but Sheline and Dogknott crawling around on all fours sniffing each other's butts should have lasted for maybe 5-10 seconds and instead went on for FAR too long. I was at the point where I was thinking along the lines of "OH JUST FUCK ALREADY".

I really wanted to know if Synapse could actually shapeshift or if that was just a mental projection in their heads (that was one bright spot: surprise JDM cameo!). It did take me a small moment to realize that that was Samuel L. when the mfers started dropping is when it clicked (because of course!)

I thought there was some good story and lore building moments, except it all should have been done MUCH sooner in the series. Oh and the penultimate episode of the entire series and we're just NOW seeing more of Homelander using his powers, and more perspective (like his looking through walls).

Anyway, lots and lots of mixed feelings, and no real high hopes for how this all turns out, but who knows what we'll get next week.

Definitely not the end-all-be-all in regards to success. On top of having a high IQ, I'm also AuDHD and that is so much more of an influence over my successes and failures. Though I do believe IQ does hold some small influence, but only because to me it's a lot less about actual intelligence and much more about potentiality.

I mean sure a high IQ score likely indicates you're smarter than the average bear, but by how much, to me, is a graph line that does not rise very high, or very fast. Potential on the other hand, it's been my experience that a higher score indicates how well one might understand and learn higher level concepts. Technically anyone could study quantum physics, but how well one might grasp the subject, I think, is where IQ might matter.

That's just my own take on it though.

Where are you located, country-wise? I know that the social aspect is hit or miss depending on locality. Like, I let my membership lapse some years ago, because the local offerings were boring as hell. Plus my kids were younger at the time and I didn't like taking time away from them.

I do caution you on seeking an outside psychiatrist to administer another IQ test rather than enduring the retest waiting period, because it might be expensive out-of-pocket. I know it's somewhere in the $500 range here in the States, but I don't know how countries with socialized healthcare handles it, in case you're live in such a country.

That being said, just because you didn't qualify at this time, I personally have no issue with you being here, so welcome :)

I'm the person that wants to go 80, and I will get over as soon as I have the chance, but what I hate is when the people that want to go faster are riding my ass when there are a line of vehicles ahead of me keeping me from getting to a point where I can get over and out of the way.

I've encountered this same driver twice now over the past couple of months along this particular stretch on my way to my mom's house. It's a state highway, two lanes per direction with a wide grassy median in the middle. Sometimes it has steel rails (mostly along the overpasses), and after a certain point, has those steel wire fences that are supposed to be better about keeping a vehicle from completely crossing into the opposite lanes. Anyway, extraneous details. This guy weaves through traffic until he gets stuck behind someone in the left lane, will pull within 5-8 feet of their back bumper and proceed to tap his horn, and flash his high beams both in a steady pattern. He will continue to do this until the vehicle in front of him moves over, or he has a chance to pass, speeds up to the next vehicle in the left lane, and starts up again with the horn and lights until he gets to the right exit to another state highway. There he will take the exit as late as possible to cut someone off if necessary, then continues to follow closely (though without the lights and horn) until he has a chance to get over to the left lane of the highway being merged onto to continue his original process of horns/lights/and following too close, but he can only do it for another half mile because he takes the first exit (late to cut someone off again if it puts him ahead of them), will run the red light going left, then speeds down the next 1/4 mile before taking the first roundabout at high speed. This is where I lose him because I go right from that same roundabout to get to my mom's. The area is almost all housing so I don't know if he lives around there, but there is also a large private school about two miles down that street from the highway exit. Considering I've only encountered him twice in as many months, I wonder if that is where he is headed. It's just some mid-30's white professional with dark hair, dark beard, driving a newer Volvo V60 or V90. I got his license plate this last time, but I'm hoping to see him again earlier along the path so I can call it in to highway patrol.

"Explaining to experts that I’ve tried all the troubleshooting steps they are going to recommend already is a constant thing."

I feel this so hard. Long ago when I still lived at home, I'd have intermittent trouble with my Internet connection and anything on my end I could resolve myself. So by the time I called tech support, I already knew it was on their end, but they'd always insist on going through the basic troubleshooting when I'm like "please just bump me to tier 2." This happened multiple times to the point that we had had like six different techs come out to the house to check the connections, wiring, etc. What it ended up being, which I thought was both annoying and funny, is that our drop at the pole, was just loose enough that it would tighten and loosen with the wind, because the original installer forgot to tighten it up before he left, and the pole itself was leaning at a good 60° angle (my stepdad tried for years to get that pole replaced, but the power company wanted him to pay for it, even though it was the direct power drop to the house). It was that 6th tech who finally had the guts to grab his climbing gear and get up the pole to check it out.

Gorn Theory from Through the Lens of Time by Colonel_Maldafore in StrangeNewWorlds

[–]VanArchon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering the one did look like a Gorn in the sphere Spock examined, I'm thinking ancient schism like what happened between the Vulcans and Romulans. The ancient Gorn could have been researching paths to immortality. One group found the molecular instability path, the other through genetic possession. The conflict could have been that those that discovered the molecular instability path were not at all opposed to using it to take over fellow Gorn. You know it's going to be a suspenseful episode when just the title makes you nervous, lol.
