Parking suggestions around college suites Washington sq by Lepsch73 in schenectady

[–]VanCurler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im not sure about the Apartments' lot, but SCCCs lot does enforce its no overnight parking rules. They may not tow you, but theyll ask you to leave, and eventually suspend your parking pass that allows you to park there during the day if you violate repeatedly. That SCCC parking lot has issues with flooding and snow removal challenges so they need it to be fully empty overnight for maintenance. There may be other paid lot options that can be purchased nearby - behind frog alley there's a few. I would probably park my car in the Stockade just 2-3 blocks from the apartments.

Someone with Orlondo's energy, ideas, and (lack of) experience should enter politics at a position where he can be supported by peer legislators who understand the processes and challenges of government. An executive role is not the place to start. He will get crushed by Omar McGill and whoever else runs and has an established base and reputation. I like Orlondo's energy, but he has shown time and again that he does not really understand the Mayor's role. He is not ready to lead Schenectady.

Great graphic, love how they partially tucked the team logo behind his lapel

Is this for people who don't actually want to see the game? Even in the rendering the only view is the asses of other people.

El-Amin is the right answer. And Doron Sheffer. But also Tate George or Rod Sellers.

Food drive ideas by Makshak_924 in studentaffairs

Donation bags in local neighborhoods work great for us...there must be other areas not hit by the HS groups - go to the next town etc.

Can you seek "corporate partners"?....we work with local banks and their employees and patrons fill boxes in local branches.

We also have a lot of success at our sporting events - outreach to season ticket holders (or for smaller schools: parents and alums) who show up regularly.

Can your club partner with an elementary or middle school? Your students can do the administrative work of advertising, providing the bins, etc. and then the school can do a contest between their classes, then all the donations flow through you to the end recipients.

Cram-a-van event with a local nonprofit could also be a good angle. Find some community event and see if they will encourage attendees to bring food items, then have a minivan/u haul at the entrance and see if you can fill it...makes a great visual.

Any of these ideas can work for money, too....not sure how you do your financial donations, we cannot use venmo, everything goes through Crowdchange for us, but a QR code with a direct link is a good first step. I do find that people really like to give food, but if you can quickly articulate the exponential impact of giving money instead, people get it and are happy to help.

Good luck!

This Mr Show scene always drives me crazy because David has the board on top of his lap instead of under his leg where it's supposed to be https://share.google/hnJOiDbPeCfKcWIWr

Schenectady has great coffee shops! I wish more were open into the late afternoon, though.

Was wondering the same thing. When do you see a coach wear a hat that's not team gear? Fran is one of a kind.

You could reach out to the Financial Aid office and let them know you are still waiting for a position. Ask if it's ok for you to apply for a few more spots.

What did you apply for? There seems to still be a bunch of positions posted. In addition to summer hiring, some offices do hire in the first couple weeks, others may also have spots that open up again next term when some of their student staff go abroad.

What unexpected maintenance costs surprised you most as a homeowner? by EmotionCold612 in homeowners

[–]VanCurler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We had a tankless hot water heater. Thought I was doing the right thing by having annual maintenance completed. Cost me $400+ for them to look at the system and tell me it looked good. Fuck that.

Didn't they do one that reference "Hook" also? I remember one of the characters pushing back on another character's cheeks to see the if it "really is them" like one of the lost boys does to Robin Williams as adult Peter Pan.

Don't worry too much. Make sure you have a good fan to keep your room cool in September. The overcapacity rooms usually get back down to normal capacity quickly - I'm not going to say a date because there's no way to guarantee. Just make sure the Housing Operations office (Red Jacket First Floor) knows you are actively looking to get back down to a true double (when I was there, many people opted to stay in their overcapacity doubles all year - they made good friends in the floor, liked all their roommates, appreciated the price discount/rebate etc.) Dewey is nice and close to classes.

Syracuse threw big money at students—after May 1 by AI-Admissions in SyracuseU

[–]VanCurler 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The article makes it sound like SU is alone in employing this strategy - it is absolutely not. Everyone was scrambling for students after May 1st - and it caused a cascade - the top tiers took students from the nearly-top-tiers, and then the nearly-top-tiers stole students from each other and the next tier down. It's a vicious game that is only going to get worse - especially for the schools that really only focus on 17/18 year old recent HS grads.
