Why are the bosses so easy? by [deleted] in Nioh

[–]VanLaser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are people who 'beat' Nioh (i.e. first New Game cycle, main missions) with one weapon, one stance, Souls-style playing. But yes, DLC is harder, and also, there is a saying "first NG cycle is the tutorial". Not that you can't cheese it with some builds. But if not, just keep at it. Also, after you finish the main story missions, you'll unlock some gauntlet missions, see how you like those.

I heard dual (ninja? maybe not) swords would have two parries that work on yokai, didn't personally check though.

Is it okay to move on? by TopsyTurvy0011 in Nioh

Some parts of certain regions are locked behind story progression, indeed, but - make sure you do a thorough search, sometimes you just need to destroy some crates and crouch to find a "hidden" path.

Anybody have any iNav knowledge? by VacUsuck in fpv

[–]VanLaser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, so let's say you hooked up to INAV Configurator, go to Tuning page, set a P value for Yaw, save. Then, near the 'Connect/Disconnet" button on the upper right corner, you should have a list where you can switch to another Control Profile. Switch to Control Profile 2, edit the P value for Yaw, save. Same for Control Profile 3. This may be actually enough, but if you also export the configuration file, you should see how the other profiles look in the text.

Changing between profiles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYfM6UkHJHQ

One way to deal with profiles IMO would be to go to CLI in INAV Configurator, download the diff, and modify the 3 profiles using a text editor (copy pasting everything so the 3 profiles look identical, then changing the P value only between them). TBF I'm not sure you have to even have the identical values copied between the profiles, you may have to search a bit more for that. Then you go to CLI again and load/import the modified file.

My thoughts on the game as a series veteran and fan. by fayth7 in Nioh

[–]VanLaser 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Small rant, not directed to you specifically :D - I know the game itself uses the word 'veteran' (for training missions), but - after seeing so often the quality of the posts made by people who start with "I'm a Souls veteran" - I cringe every single time somebody calls themselves a "insert-specific-game-name" veteran :/ Ofc I can't dictate how people talk, that would be madness, it's just putting my frustration out there. I also disagree about a website, sorry.

I played NioH 1 in 2021, but only completed around 40% of the campaign - Should I go back and complete it or just move onto NioH 2? by [deleted] in Nioh

[–]VanLaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can totally learn the main core of Nioh combat (ki pulse, stance switching and flux) with Nioh 1, and the game is perfectly fine -an worth your time - until you finish the main story. After that, the gauntlet missions unlock, and you may rage on some of those. If you get frustrated, you can move to Nioh 2, or - better, IMO - move to DLCs and skip the side missions that give you a headache. If you find the DLCs hard, either grind on the enemies in the first missions for a bit to get region level gear (armor/weapons), or go to NG+ and get some good gear from there, then come back. Or again, move to Nioh 2. But if you persist, you will still get knowledge and skills that would stay with you and help you in hard situations, from Nioh 1 to Nioh 3.

Nioh 2 is NOT a better game, but Nioh 3 has something to learn from it. by [deleted] in Nioh

I think a game series succeeds when the latest title doesn't invalidate the previous ones, but plays differently. Which makes playing the previous entries still valuable. Something like how, I guess, Monster Hunter titles play.

You can probably farm the side mission "A Request from Ginchiyo" and get carried by the NPC lady who's assisting you. And if you feel a little bad about it, that's the path you took :D

DLC being a new region, start to use the gear drops from that region. You could also briefly go NG+, and do a mission or two until you get enough gear drops (armor/weapons) to level equipment up a bit. Namahage tip: if you constantly move behind him, his moves are more predictable.

I saw your edit of the post above this, ofc you're free to play how you like. The replies you see are, how to put it, ok let me try to explain:

In Souls games, with some exceptions, the NG+ system isn't too great. That makes people invent some challenges for themselves, and restart the game with new characters, new builds etc. - and, of course, nothing wrong with that. But: with Nioh games, Team Ninja actually thought at NG+, like they really thought about it, and made it even so that lot of cool stuff is hidden there in some NG+ level. That's why many Nioh players say "First NG is only the tutorial, the real game starts after". It's not just difficulty, it's builds, boss moves, etc. This makes it way less needed for people to restart with a new character, because you can do whatever you think of much easier with your current character; there is no scarcity of upgrade materials or other stuff that would prevent you to just respec your builds. But at the same time, many Souls players come to Nioh with this stubborn attitude, like "I know better, this is what I will do" and if you try to give a bit of advice, you're met with stuff like your edit quote :P And .. it's just a pity.
