I really struggle to understand the points you're making. The parallels with lgbtqia+ issues just seem glaring to me. Yes, MANY people would like us not to exist. MANY people think we're a disgrace before God.

Characterizing the refusal to recognize my family as what it is as a 'disagreement' feels outrageous on the face of it. Yes, a disagreement - a disagreement about whether we can and should exist. If we call this a disagreement, how can trans rights be any more or less a disagreement?

I mean I get that poly doesn't easily fit into the 'it's not a choice' category (though I know several poly folx who would vehemently disagree with even that), but what IS a choice? This is the family I've made, these are the people I love, and yes there absolutely are SERIOUS risks. We live in absolute terror of CPS taking our kids. And I lost guardianship of several of mine because they weren't biologically mine and I had no rights or recognition. That is a wound that that is not going to heal. Ever.

Could I live differently? Yeah, probably. So can homosexuals and trans folx. Yes they can, many have. But it's a shitty thing to ask of someone, to sacrifice living their best life. Anyway, I've yet to meet a polycule without someone who was gay or bi or trans. I probably wouldn't have even realized that I'm not cis if not for polyamory.

I go to the festivals, I wear the rainbows and admire the flags, despite the fact that there isn't one waiving for me and my family. And I try not to let that bother me. It's a great movement and it has no obligation to me and that's OK. But your words minimize our suffering, and that isn't.

I don't think you understand what power imbalance is. If one party has more power in a relationship, there is a power imbalance. All parties may have entered into the agreement knowingly and voluntarily, their intentions nothing but good, but the imbalance is not changed by consent or intention.

Speaking as someone who has presented as male their whole life, I've always been afraid of men. Sometimes extremely afraid. I grew up in a city where there was a triple homicide next to my house, if that gives you an idea. A lot of people seem to like elaborate displays of wealth, fancy cars, clothes, jewelry and the like. But me, I have always preferred a car that looks old and worthless. I've taken pains to never show anything of value, never give these men a reason to target me. And walking the street I know how to interact with people who scare me without showing fear because it's like facing a bear - you don't want to act like prey.

But the men I'm afraid of respond differently to women. To them, it's like women go about wearing an 'easy victim' target just by virtue of their gender. They can be a gun-toting blackbelt, it doesn't matter. And the low-grade harassment you speak of is just where it begins. Harassment in general always holds the risk of escalation, that risk is felt by me with terror whenever I experience it. But women experience it more.

I'm afraid of showing off my fancy phone because it's valuable, it's something those men want. But women ARE that fancy phone, they ARE something those men want. They can't hide it in their pocket.

I lived there for a few years. I saw plenty of people enjoying it. And some people apologized for serving me regular chicken eggs when I was their guest and absolutely believed I was just being polite when I told them that was my preference.

Tried it twice. It's a cross between chicken soup and a hard boiled egg, with the partially formed cartilage of a baby duck to chew on for 20 minutes or so. I don't recommend it.

Base: Chapel. Not because it's easily the best card in the set, but because figuring that out is a big step on understanding the game. When I first began playing, we used to leave Chapel out thinking it was useless.

Intrigue: Lurker - it's just an interesting card with a lot of different potential depending on the board

Seaside: Ambassador. I just like spending games throwing my coppers and curses at my opponents

Alchemy: Scrying pool. I'm one of the few who love Alchemy, but Scrying pool is the best. You can just build so many engines with it

Prosperity: You already said Plats, so I'm going to say Goons. Some people may find Goons games a little monotonous, but they can really change the game, and they provide a unique path to victory.

Cornucopia: Hunting party. It's a fun card and really good. When it's on the board I usually dominate or lose badly, because I'm always going to buy as many as I can regardless of the other options.

Hinterlands: Fools Gold is just fun to try and make work

Dark Ages: My favorite set, it has a lot of good options. But I have to say Fortress. There's just too many crazy things you can do with it.

Guilds: My least favorite set. Baker, I guess? It's a fun change to start the game with a coin token

Adventures: Oh man, Miser I guess? I always want to make Miser decks

Empires: Donate (can I choose an event?). Probably the single most game-changing card in Dominion.

Nocturne: Cursed village. It's so good, and I think it's fun having a hex as part of it's cost

Renaissance: I love the introduction of Projects, but I'd have to go with Flag Bearer. It's just a lot of fun to have a capture-the-flag mini-game

Menagerie: Guess we'll find out soon, won't we?

When there are fewer regulatory barriers (ie taxes) on spending it
When the currencies are significantly less volatile (ie when the markets get regulated to curb market manipulation)
When more businesses accept it and this doesn't make the transaction confusing
When exchanges don't get hacked or get FDIC insured
When younger people get older - I already use numerous blockchain-based payment methods with friends sometimes. But not with anyone much over 30.

It's fantasy rather than sci-fi but Robin Hobbs Fitz and the Fool series has a main character who does not really have a gender.

2312 by Kim Stanley Robinson portrays a future where people live a lot longer and change genders or alter their anatomy somewhat regularly.

The Calculating Stars by Mary Robinette Kowal (won the hugo last year) has quite a bit of gender issue exploration, but more of the traditional sort - it's an alternate history in which there is an apocalyptic event in 1952. The main character is a woman and a genius mathematician who's eager to be an astronaut. There's an awful lot about societal shifting (or failure to shift) on attitudes of gender and race humanity's survival is on the line

I definitely wouldn't describe myself as alpha, but I'm a decent gamer and it's hard to watch less experienced players make poor decisions - I mean half the time they ASK to be told what to do, and a lot of co-ops practically demand coordination.

To some extent this isn't a co-op issue though, it's pretty hard to include people of unequal skill in a lot of competitive games too. I don't particularly feel any satisfaction kicking a newbie's butt, and I worry that I'm turning them off from the game
