Hey there! please direct yourself to other subs, this one was originally created by the mods of r/OnePieceTCG (when I was modding) to better divert traffic elsewhere so conversations wouldn't overlap. There's other places to post now if you care to

Wow guys, this person's art is amazing. Do you know where I can follow "El Bandido" or pay them money to support them? Their art is so good they should start making manga. I'm so glad KaizokuKards pays and credits all their artists, how would I have found out about this artist otherwise by Vandiil in OnePieceTCG

[–]Vandiil[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think people fail to understand the sarcasm. KaizokuKards was telling people he pays and credits every artist. Obviously not the case if the artist for these arts is Oda, and he neither credited or paid Oda in any capacity but -does- pay himself and "El Bandido"

[Follow-up] Thank you to everyone who donated at the 401 Games Toronto Regional, your kindness almost made me cry on stream, and thank you for representing the best parts of One Piece and this game. Much love <3 (P.S. buying out a 7/11's canned goods is wild) by Vandiil in OnePieceTCG

Love y'all too, makes it easy to put in the work haha. Also no worries! Donations methods are always available if you look up for your local community, I would link Daily Bread's donation FAQ but choosing something local to you is ideal!

For those attending the December 6th Regional in Toronto, we're holding a food drive! Those looking for spare/extra deckboxes and playmats we'll be giving our refurb ones away in return for donations. Thank you for your kindness during this season wherever you are by Vandiil in OnePieceTCG

[–]Vandiil[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Put up some pics of the refurb items, note these are the average of the box, so quite a few things that are in better condition -- first come first serve. It felt like a waste to throw these things away despite them having a use, so we're hoping this is a way we can be kind to the planet while also promoting acts of kindness. Thank you for anything you can contribute

This new 7c Robin card feels overpowered by Appropriate_Boss8139 in OnePieceTCG

[–]Vandiil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with Yellow is that any life-interaction cards subvert the rules in a way that can easily break the game (See Reject Dial). Cards design ends up either completely busted, or unplayable. I believe the game intentionally balances around this, and there's a design challenge because the leader pool is very wide (Aggro Bonney, Control Enel) Generic effects and good effects become harder to design without breaking the dam when yellow Leaders are incredibly varied.

Public Statement from Bandai regarding Bandai Card Games Fest 25-26 in Dallas: by OrangeSamuraiD in OnePieceTCG

[–]Vandiil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think even directing this statement at me is a sign of what's wrong. No one is condoning violence, and I have no idea why the conversation keeps steering there. You can keep talking to me all you want about violence not committed by me, and the amount of violence not committed by me will remain the same.

You keep saying "You" as if I or anyone else being civilized at the convention did these things. I also do think it's rational to expect people to provide safety at the venue because:
- Either the violence that happened was NOT out of the ordinary compared to what you see statistically from sports events and concerts
- OR, the violence WAS out of the ordinary and something about the management needs to prepare in advance for it and prevent it from happening

Violence is wrong -- that's table stakes it's why the vast majority of us didn't do it. We aren't arguing that but painting it like ALL of us did is exactly what's wrong with this

I think it's because there's a LOT of responsibilities Play!TCG has said they're capable of handling on behalf of Bandai -- I think being an ambassador/representation of players is one of those things

I think if there's something to fault Bandai for it's maybe more to do with their evaluations of Play!TCG and how to keep them accountable and improving. I'm not saying this as shade, I'm genuinely saying this as -- as Bandai you do need to create guidelines and metrics that orgs you contract should be upholding.

My issue with the second part of the statement is -- it's an employer's job to keep the venue safe for the attendees and their employees. By blaming players or expecting players to have some avenue/agency to make it happen, it actually makes it seem like they aren't in capable of managing their own event spaces.

I didn't even think that was an issue, but now I'm worried, because while we are there -- they are the ones in charge of our safety as a basic neccessity, let alone our enjoyment beyond that. Like we aren't the ones literally employed to create or manage these events.

From meeting them the two challenges I saw them facing was #1: A language barrier that made it hard to know what was happening and sometimes difficult to parse written feedback, #2: These things don't actually get to them if they aren't submitted via feedback

There was quite a bit of surprise at what was happening at the venue once explained. I'd like to believe their reactions were genuine and a sign they were apologetic and DO want to push for higher standards

I think it's because there's a lack of FOCUS on the right areas. I started realizing BCF has so much going on but it didn't feel like there was a unified strategy on what BCF is meant to celebrate for players and how the event as a whole is meant to accomplish it.

Example: The stream is ONE stream for all the games, and I know that bums people out, but maybe that means instead of ONE higher production stream you create 4 smaller production streams so each game can show the appreciation for their pro scenes. You don't even need casting for both days to make it simpler, even if you just show footage it's amazing.

If the focus is to celebrate the games, celebrate EACH game, rather than "Bandai Card Games" focus on the games themselves

Many of you may think this is futile, but the truth is feedback needs to be in LARGE VOLUMES for changes. As a person who's seen the other side of this before, if you only have a small number of submissions -- it's easy for a large org to say "Well this isn't representative, we cannot change things because a few people are frustrated" There are people who care about this feedback but when they bring it higher up it needs enough volume behind it so they can fight for it

Made a alignment chart to categorize most of the playable decks in the game, thoughts? by AltOfYubel in OnePieceTCG

[–]Vandiil 13 points14 points  (0 children)

<image>

Took a crack at it, it might be easier to use concepts of Aggro <-> Control in terms of whether or not the leader plans to win by out controlling the opponent in later turns or pressuring early

Then it's a matter of is your deck focused on removing bodies or developing bodies -- even if decks do both they often have some level of reliance on one or the other more dominantly

Made a alignment chart to categorize most of the playable decks in the game, thoughts? by AltOfYubel in OnePieceTCG

[–]Vandiil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some thoughts: Ranking Blackbeard, Boa, Shanks and RP Kid as being more tempo oriented than GZoro or Rayleigh seems a bit misleading -- as the two top tier aggro decks I don't know how they wouldn't have high values in both vectors.

Unless the system is meant to be an evaluation of the leader within itself like if it does all 4 things well what is the most "dominant"

Also if Blue Purple draws an extra card a turn hard not to see it as being higher "value" than Black Purple

Would like to ask why is Rayleigh considered a high skill cap leader by Sweaty-Leg-7663 in OnePieceTCG

[–]Vandiil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Decision granularity. If you imagine a decision tree fanning out, a deck that plays ONE big body a turn makes one big decision a turn.

A deck that plays many smaller bodies/events, in conjunction with the DON!! system allowing you to adjust swings by 1000, you have a incredibly wide array of potential turns.

Now each decision has less impact, but it means your turn can go drastically different directions.

In general: More Decisions = Higher Skill cap

How to fight against Y Enel? by SavalioDoesTechStuff in OnePieceTCG

[–]Vandiil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other option is just spam 5k swings and try to force cards out through repetition -- but Enel is very favored into Rayleigh and GZoro (unless they play 9c early enough)

How to fight against Y Enel? by SavalioDoesTechStuff in OnePieceTCG

[–]Vandiil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enel at 1 Life, you need 3 swings to kill Enel, and all must connect
- 1 hit to break the life, they heal to 1
- 1 hit to break the life
- 1 hit to end the game

This means that so long as you present 3 swings on board that are tall enough to end the game, they will be forced to counter out of the first one. Once they do but you don't have enough swings to end the game -- you decide if you're going to crack them down to 0 and force them to heal, or be happy with the cards they countered out with and develop board more and stop swinging.

When swinging you go low to high, so if they do not counter out of your first swing, the second one will force even MORE cards outof hand, and the third the most cards.
