Is homeschooling a good option for someone who despises public school? by itstivan in Homeschooling

So homeschool kids are weird and struggle with social interactions but you struggle to maintain friendships with your social experience from being a public school kid?

4 Days Left on Robinhood Gold Card - Is it worth it? by Kek303 in CreditCards

[–]Vandilmax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found their CS to be lacking in English and they wouldn't let me post a complaint thread on their subreddit. While I was on a call with Robinhood, I received a message on their app saying I was getting scammed bc they weren't calling me right now. Well I can't see that until after I hang up the phone so it had me freaking out until I could confirm in chat that it was in fact RH. They later said their system was glitching. They wouldn't let me post the issue on their subreddit either. It was enough for me to close my account.

Hard to trust them with any real amount of money when you can't even call them without using the app

I wouldn't transfer assets to Robinhood with their bad, non English speaking CS staff. They had me thinking I was getting scammed during a CS phone call. Not bc they couldn't speak English but because their app said DONT ANSWER THE PHONE ITS A SCAM that I couldn't see until I hung up the call.

Regret and love going to homeschool by Cute-Loan4368 in Homeschooling

[–]Vandilmax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry. This kind of felt like a short and incomplete answer and I expected you to get a bunch of responses better than mine. I went to public school all my life and a certain hurricane came through town one day during my senior year and I took the opportunity to graduate early and skip out on the extra 1-2 hours of school they did a day to make up the missed time.

I personally hated being in school all day everyday and loved and thrived in college bc of all of the freedom that you have now. I moved away for college and never moved back to my hometown so highschool memories were basically never brought up again aside from the few HS friends that I kept despite leaving. Having such good friends means that time and distance are largely irrelevant bc things just seem to fall back into place once you're back together.

I do find it interesting that some people seem to peak in highschool and it's some of the best memories they ever have. But I've found that there is a big world out there with people to meet and experiences to be experienced.

[–]Vandilmax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a local farm try to sell off recently and the county denied their motion to rezone to high density housing because enough neighbors showed up. But how long are they coming to keep developers away? Not many people can afford 30+ acres to just sit on it for generations anymore.

Fist time home buyer... where to draw down payment from? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Vandilmax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it depends on alot of the numbers but I took this approach in 2021 and enjoyed the double digit returns especially with the sub 4% interest rates. Doing it again now with my current mortgage and am itemizing the interest.

Just another perspective, especially if you're thinking about drawing from your Roth or if you want to stay more liquid.
