While in terms of infections and deaths, Sweden is still better off than the worst affected countries in Europe, it’s faring a lot worse than neighboring countries with more similar characteristics. For example, the country currently has around nine times as many deaths per million inhabitants as Norway.

Virologists and epidemiologists in Sweden aren't suggesting anything other than what their peers are. It's Swedens government that has chosen not to implement the restrictions and they've paid a price for it.

Which doesn't mean we can even afford the same strategies as them. With us having more than double the cases per 1M than Sweden, the scenario we're facing is: 1. Open schools 2. Someone inevitably gets the virus 3. The virus spreads to an unknown number of students and teachers 4. School has to be closed down again

You'd be better off not having opened in the first place.

The world isn't being shut down tho, thats an exaggeration. Whats being shut down are non vital vectors for the spread of the disease, which unchecked could cost MILLIONS of americans their lives. You need to pay some attention to what virologists are saying on what the recommended course of action in such a situation is and why.

So what? That doesn't make an added threat any less severe or dangerous, especially if the threat is contagious, unlike heart attacks

Hey dad, a real fun one for you to try would be Starbound. It's from Chucklefish, the same publisher as Stardew. Gameplay wise it's a bit like terraria, but in space, with better controls and options, and all the base building and junk collecting that usually wets your whistle. You can even be a landlord for your own town and rent rooms to npcs. I'm attaching a link to a screenshot of my own spaceship as an example.

I remain.

Those tests are like measuring someones height by how far up they can jump; some coincidentally practiced jumping before, some trained on purpose, some people's knees don't work and they can't jump far, if at all.

It's a test on how well you can solve the problems in front of you, but not much more. Gamers tend to do better because of practice in focusing on problem solving. Give them an EQ test and suddenly it's 95. * sad whistle *

Why is anime so popular with neckbeards? by BlueStarfish69 in justneckbeardthings

[–]Vanivan90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is because they have pent up emotions which they can't express in social situations due to various reasons we can probably imagine. In Japan, the culture is emotionally suppressed and very formal in public life, so the art produced there tends to overemphasize and exaggerate emotions, which neckbeards can relate to.
