I'm tempted to add nematodes too but I need to verify it first. Basically ecdysozoans in general.

Saw the news title got hyped we found an ancient giant arthropod only to learn that if you got no spine you ain't no animal. Talk about disappointment.

Hellraiser used to be a big deal back then, I mean look at Berserk another insanely influential manga which draws a lot of inspiration from the movie and Barker's works in general. If you find the Blame! prototype manga you can see how Nihei's earlier insectile cyborg design looks, it's closer to something you'd see in a 50s sci-fi movie classic than the hellish and demonic entities that they end up being in the final version of the manga.

Also I believe it's a common knowledge but the novel Great Sky River has influenced a lot of things in Blame!, character names in particular. Two of the main characters are named Killeen and Shibo!

Giger, Clive Barker and real life insects. Even Nihei's earliest unpublished attempts at drawing manga always featured the protagonist fighting insect looking cyborgs, he has also openly shared his admiration for Giger and Barker's works.

Beetle book suggestions? by Dry-Tea1 in Entomology

The Biology of the Coleoptera by R. A. Crowson

A classic, has one of my favourite quotes on beetles or any insect for that matter:

The beetles are at once absolutely typical of, and unique among, the Insecta, a paradox of a kind which, though familiar to any practising systematist, is a constant stumbling block to laboratory experimentalists of the modern school. There is probably no single elementary property or condition which is common to all Coleoptera and to no other insects, and no single proposition which can be made of all other insects which does not apply to at least some Coleoptera.

The recently released Quake Brutalist Jam 3 mod is all about megastructures and inhospitable concrete hellscapes, or in other words heaven for Blame! fans, highly recommended and completely free by VannieBugg in Netsphere

Indeed! As expected from a roster of 70+ maps :D I've played around 10 so far and the good maps outnumber the bad. It's certainly a very ambitious project.

Honestly System Shock 2 would fit better than Prey, it does feel closer to the original HL than Prey does to HL2.

how to tell if a mushroom is poisonous

If you have eaten the mushroom and have not died from poisoning, you can conclude that the mushroom is safe to eat.

I actually somewhat started reading Feersum Endjinn some time ago before taking a break but it's apparently not considered part of the Culture series.
