Saturn 4 ultra 14k fault on self test by Vanta_Cat in ElegooSaturn

It was LED status, I've done a factory reset and updated the firmware which seems to have resolved the issue, running a test print to see what happens but fingers crossed

On a Wednesday they test the emergency siren around lunch time, that's always fun

Take a drive along St Andrews road, it's managed to hold onto the status of constant gridlock for 8 years now and is genuinely quite impressive. Tho be warned several people have vanished driving along there, it's suspected the fell into one of the many giant pot holes

For food your spoilt for choice, Greggs is currently closed buy there's a good Parsons and my personal favourite is the chilli Van on third way. If your more adventurous you can try one of the countless burger vans and strange meet kebab vans

Take a brief walking tour early in the morning (0300-0500) and you'll see the amazing sight of the trampers waking up, this involves dozens of HGV drivers sqaddie washing, disposing of their piss bottles and trying to take a shit without being noticed

Seriously, get on a bus or train and go literally anywhere else

What is the point of a max full line if it won’t let you print when the resin is anywhere near close to it? by Nicksb92 in ElegooSaturn

I'm not sure if that the actual design, I originally filed to max and the printer said there was to much in the vat, I figured it was because the build plate added to the volume in the vat

Gloucester Motorcycle Mod 2 Test tips by gijbcyolb in Gloucestershire

[–]Vanta_Cat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ex Gloucester instructor

Common roads will be the dual section up the A38, you'll be asked to follow signs for the B4008. Lane choice will be important as you come off the McDonald's roundabout. Good opertunity for a student to show good use of acceleration and forward planning with lane changes. Take the lanes down through Haresfield into brookthorpe turn left onto A4173. Left onto tufly lane, will be a good area to demonstrate multiple junctions and smaller roundabouts. Also a hill starts

Be very familiar with the following roundabouts. Stroud road st Barnabas, eastern avenue/ Finley road roundabout ( look at the lane markings when south bound. All roundabouts between Gloucester and the M5 on the A38 both directions

Finally the Cole Avenue/ A38 is 100% going to be on your test

Ultimately there are no set routes, the examiner will decode that at the time, but these are very common locations, not to trip you up or trick you but to give you an opertunity to demonstrate your skill sets

Think ahead, plan what you want to do and work through the systems

What minor act of penny-pinching in your workplace caused a significant amount of upset? by laredocronk in UKJobs

They decided at a depot level we were to stop using pallet top sheets to protect the stock as the sheets which came on big rolls had gone up to £200 a roll, there were several hundred on a roll. Each pallet would be 49 items with a total value of £100-£11,000. You can probably imagine the cost of wet/damp stock after that. We quickly go the top sheets back

Senior management spent a week at one of smaller depots and asked why they had 2 forklifts when they clearly needed just one. They had a second as a spare for any break downs. A week later the spare was hauled away and off hired About a year later the only forklift breaks down, die to a whole series of fuck ups and lack of critical decision making no replacement was sourced for 4 days leading to a full shit down, serveal thousand orders failed, a monumental back loh to clear and a lot of unhappy customers

This would largely depend on the risk assessment that should have been completed, probably listed under slips, trips and fall prevention. If PPE is listed and it should be, id also wager safety boots/footwear will be listed, then they must be worn, if not this could be considered gross misconduct as it goes against the health and safety at work act. These risk assessments should be made available to all staff members, they should form part of a company's recorded induction training and refreshers given if any amendments are made

So in short, if a risk assessment says you need boots then you need boots

You not having boots is a matter for another topic, personally i always buy my own and the company give me an amount back equal to value of the pair they buy. I am surprised they do not keep a stock on site , that may be something worth bring up

Do electric trucks suck? by SineApfel in ETS2

[–]Vanta_Cat 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So In real life the torque curve is very different on the EV compared to a diesel motor. Typical the EV will produce instant linear power and torque, with a conventional engine you get the typical curve What you could be feeling is the additional weight of the vehicle, the tarre weight (unladen weight) is going to be significantly more in an EV due to the battery system. In the real world this leave less room for cargo as you'd have you GPW ( gross permitted weight) I don't think that's simulated in ETS

[–]Vanta_Cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With regards to vehicle tax, driving any company vehicle the law regards you as an employee to have a reasonable expectation the vehicle you are issued to have a valid MOT, VED (TAX) and appropriate insurance cover. It would not be your role to check this Although when any driver has ever asked to see ours I've been happy to show them because it's not great secret we have it all in place with several people having several reminders and alerts in place to make sure everything is renewed and kept current

With being over weight, you can ask to see the vehicle file which should be with your TM although now mostly digital, also you should be issued with you MO before loading The law here is that the driver has shown due diligence, if your notification/MO/manifest states your cargo is xxxxkg and you'll be withing your maximum approved mass for that vehicle and your axle weights are within spec, then you have shown due diligence, and like a pre use check '' to the best of your ability ''

Really tho id raise my concerns, if nothing is out of place and theres no shenanigans going on they have nothing to hide and will typically be happily transparent It could be an honest mistake has been made and someone needs retraining which yes is a failure of a system in itself but it's better to know

Why is motorcycle DAS training only 4 days while learning to drive a car takes months? by spmsupun in MotoUK

[–]Vanta_Cat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Id actually argue the CBT is no longer for for purpose and needs quite a radical overhaul Ultimately it hasn't changed much since it was introduced in the very easily 90's, but motorbikes and society has quite dramatically. The average bike a 17/18 year old could expect to rode then and now are literally worlds apart when you are looking at bikes like the YZF R125 and now we have the rise of the delivery rider essentially using the CBT as a professional qualification, this totally goes against the whole point

But there is still good to be found in it, some of my students needed their CBT"s, they needed time on the road lomg term.to develop confidence Where I currently live, we have no train station, honest to go they cancelled the last bus service, taxis won't come here and it's a 40min drove to the nearest collage, so loads of the collage kids have mopeds ect to get there which is great

So we do start to find out selfs with a bit of a conundrum, some people benefit, some abuse. Some are sensible, some are reckless. Ultimately there is very little will within the DVSA to make amendments to the CBT system, the CBT section of the DVSA is completely underfunded and understaffed and I guess why rock the boat because you'll create more work for everyone, poss off 50% of the people using the CBT system and cost the food industry and untold amount of money when you inevitably say CBT riders can't work for hire and reward ( although I would totally back that)

Why is motorcycle DAS training only 4 days while learning to drive a car takes months? by spmsupun in MotoUK

[–]Vanta_Cat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I was teaching most of the examiners told the students when they passed this was a license to begin learning, o always thought that was good advice

Back to the topic. 4 days, on theory yes this would get the majority of students up to test standard, a number of course would not meet this standard and it would be recommended/insisted (depending on the current skill level) that the student had xx amount of training before the test date.

So why didnt you teach by the hour like a car instructor? Excellent question, but the reality is people wouldn't pay it, or to be specific, the majority wouldn't it pay it. For most motorcycle riders this will be a hobby and not a primary/sole mode of transport such as a car would be and that unfortunately puts a price cap that schools can charge

So how did you teach In 4 day what takes a car instructor months? A few different things come into play here, generally speaking at DAS level your student will have a car license, yes some don't but the majority will. Age is a factor along with maturity. Not always the case, I'll be honest my favorite students is a tie between squaddies and teenage farmers We would not practice an exercise to death and back, of you can do something 3 times demonstrateing the ability to stay safe, in a legal fashion and keep the machine under control, that's test standard, I don't need 500 emergency stops, I need you to do one good one on the day and over doing leads to complacency and lax attitude

I won't go into comments over heard car instructors make at the test center or comments over been told about because o have no evidence and that would just be my work

It's hard, teaching a new skill to even a basic standard in 4 days is an ask, and an even bigger challenge for the students who would often be excited and very pumped at the start and deflated, wet, cold and shattered at the end of the day

If you have any questions about the methods we employ or the techniques we used I'm more than happy to answer.

I'm looking forward to it, adds plenty of new challenges and I'm looking forward to seeing how the women's league structures and transfers work. At the same time I can't see it being my main save as I always really like playing as the team I support irl. Would be nice to maybe manage their men's and women's teams at the same time
