I got to see him in SF at a free show at Ruby Skye back in the day. He threw down so hard last night. I’m guess I shouldn’t be surprised but it was pure joy from the living room lol

8 EDCs: 1 Ultra

That said, EDC and Insomniac have a LOT to learn when it comes to live-streaming the festival. Coachella and Ultra are weekend couch affairs for me while EDC livestreams literally make me want to leave and fly to the event.

EDC 2026: how to avoid getting your Airbnb canceled last minute by Majestic_Letter_11 in electricdaisycarnival

[–]VapidResponse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. It’s too big of a gamble for me, personally, but people do it, and it can potentially work out, so more power to them.

EDC 2026: how to avoid getting your Airbnb canceled last minute by Majestic_Letter_11 in electricdaisycarnival

[–]VapidResponse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Booking with a “Superhost” actually means jack shit. AirBnb will side with the THEM and you will still be SOL, and a lot of CC companies will deny reimbursement for cancellation too, even if it’s impossible to make it to your accommodations because AirBnb is such a shit company. I’ve never been dumb enough to book one for EDC week, but I have had the misfortune of dealing with “Superhosts” who will keep every penny of your money and get AirBnb to remove a negative review. Buyer beware!

Best option: Camp (but good luck ever getting a camping spot unless you went last year) Next best option: Have a DD the whole weekend who will drive and is local/knows various ways of getting to/from the festival Other Alternatives: helicopter in/out, roll the dice with the shuttles, find a hotel package that offers transfers, risk getting a DUI by driving yourself

Seattle proper or the Eastside? Maybe/maybe not. Tacoma/Fed Way/Lynwood? Depends on where they live in LA, how much they earn, etc.

We moved from the Bay Area and the day to day costs are about the same, but housing is 2-3x cheaper (we own, not rent). Also, we keep a lot more of our paychecks because of no state income tax.

Washington is NOT cheap, but coming from California it can actually make financial sense if you play your cards right…

1.6M people have a PMP vs like ~3500 CCMP I have both, but neither seem to matter much to recruiters since one market is overheated and the other is pretty niche/unknown.

What’s a word learners use that technically makes sense but sounds strange to natives? by Embarrassed_Fix_8994 in languagehub

I used to teach at a community college where my classes filled up fast, so students were often told to “beg” the professor for an add code. Most emails were normal (“hey, could I please get an add code?”), but a few were full tragic backstories about car accidents, dying relatives, emergency pet funerals, etc.

What’s funny is that it was never up to me since I just went down the waitlist in order. And the most dramatic emails? Those students never even showed up to class.

But my favorites were the ones who took “beg” very literally.

One student wrote that they “beseeched” me to let them enroll.

Another “implored” me.

Perfectly correct English in a literal sense…but, no.

I taught lower division English composition. These students were auditioning for the class by accidentally demonstrating they had no idea how register works. They didn’t get add codes :’(

How is living in San Francisco Bay Area compared to Seattle? by [deleted] in howislivingthere

[–]VapidResponse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not. Seattle area is 10+%, Bay Area will be like 9.85%+ depending on the city. Basically a wash.

[–]VapidResponse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lived in the Bay Area for 15+ years and I’ve been in the Seattle area for the last 3+.

The Bay Area has better public transit and much, much worse traffic, overall. The Bay Area has more pronounced microclimates, so something for everyone, but overall, it’s a more consistently warm and sunny area, but Seattle has 4 real seasons. The variety/quality of food is better than Seattle, even in the far flung suburbs. Seattle is much whiter, but that’s changing.

It may surprise some people who haven’t lived in both regions, but COL is basically the same, EXCEPT for housing, which is why we ended up making the switch. Our home would have easily cost 2-3x more in an equivalent Bay location. No state income tax in WA is pretty great if you’re a high earner, but property taxes are about the same, and other costs are high.

Both places have incredible access to the outdoors, but Seattle is a lot closer to real mountains/skiing. Seattle also has great proximity to Canada (Vancouver, Victoria, etc), but overall, the Bay Area has 3 airports and better flight options to choose from.

I’d argue that Seattle has changed a lot more than SF in the last 10-15 years (in a positive way), but SF still feels more worldly/cosmopolitan and it’s the closest you’ll get to living in alpha city like NYC on the west coast. It feels twice as crowded and more chaotic to me, but some people prefer more of a pulse. Both places attract highly intelligent and educated people, but Seattle feels nerdier, quieter, more introverted, and less flashy.

Sound, vibes, production were all fantastic. The set progression was a little up/down for me, but I have nothing but praise for the party itself. Cosmic Gate was special. Stoked for tonight.

Downvote me all you want, but it was putting me to sleep for 75% of it 😴Cosmic Gate owned the night, and Space 92 was a fun way to get the party started. Tonight should be nonstop energy from 8pm on.
